Recapped: 12/25/2015

What happened: Dinastia kept his minis title. Daga & Suicide continue to feud. The original Psicosis returned.

What was good: I enjoyed the minis match and the Daga/Pain vs Suicide/Speedball match.

Where can I watch it: It’s up on AAA’s channel and my own.

This is the final new AAA show of 2015. The next four weeks are repeat material. I’ll put up a post going thru all of them after they’ve over.

Match 1: Dinastía vs Mini Abismo Negro for the AAA World Minis Championship
Gimnasio Municipal Josué Neri Santos, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, 11/15/2015
Video:

Winner: Dinastia (Tulancingo Special)
Match Time: 9:17
Notes: Seconds are Aereo & Pagano. Piero is referee. Mini Abismo shook Dinastia’s hand post match, then struck him down and walked out.

Review: [good] solid title match which didn’t do anything to stick out, but also didn’t disappoint. It felt distinct than a normal match, with Dinastia’s attempts at runs off offense being quickly thwarted by Mini Abismo for quite a while, and both guys going for more pinfalls than in normal matches. It could’ve used more time to develop, and it’d be nice if a single AAA match could happen the match stopping so the seconds could go thru spots, but at least they got in and out quick. I would’ve liked to see each other pushed a little farther, but the Mini Abismo escape dive bit was nice and all of Dinastia’s big spots look good. If you like Dinastia, you’ll like this.

Dinastia outsmarted
spinning DDT
Abismo brainbuster

Match 2: Australian Suicide & Speedball vs Daga & Steve Pain
Gimnasio Municipal Josué Neri Santos, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, 11/15/2015
Video:
thecubsfanLucha Libre AAA

Winner: tecnicos (Suicide shooting star double knee drop to the back Steve Pain)
Match Time: 10:57
Notes: Daga attacks Suicide as he’s walking to the ring, then lays out both Speedball and Suicide after the match. Daga threats to send Suicide back to Australia.

Review: [great] turns out Suicide & Speedball are the best tag team in Mexico, or at least looked like that in this match. Sorry Jack & Angelico, but the double shooting star press spots were so cool and they had a lot of offense that worked well together. There were so many kicks in this match, which is every Speedball match, and I think this might have exceeded the previous match as Speedball’s best AAA performance. Crowd loved him and this match. Daga sold for them both really well when not on his own offense, and that run where he was taking one after the other was really good. Steve Pain didn’t get as much to do, but the double submission spot was great. Didn’t quite have the pace as the trios match from a couple weeks ago, but this was still way up there.

Match 3: Chris Masters, Psycho Clown, Rey Misterio Jr. vs Averno, Chessman, Psicosis I
Gimnasio Municipal Josué Neri Santos, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, 11/15/2015
Video:
Lucha Libre AAA

Winner: tecnicos (Rey Mysterio frog splash Psicosis)
Match Time: 14:28
Notes: Psicosis is a surprise wrestler, replacing Cibernetico. He’s introduced as a Perros del Mal member and is wearing the shirt. Averno & Chessman are still wearing the Hell Brothers gear. Chris Masters is a surprise wrestler, replacing Alberto. Rudos jump the tecnicos. Psicosis, as normal, brings a chair into play as part of the long opening beatdown. Masters’ injury is either edited out or totally missed by me, but he suffers a knee injury very quickly. He tries to do his normal match, but is blowing spots very badly during his big run of offense, then is unable to stand after and lays on the ground a lot. He comes back in for the finishing run and lands even worse on the ground while trying to protect himself. Doctors finally check on him after the match is over. Rey Mysterio dedicates the win and the frog splash to Eddie Guerrero

Review: [ok] Crowd really loved Misterio and that carried a not so great match. There has been worse, and this was better than the matches last week by the end, but it also was a few minutes too long and hampered by Masters’ injury. Beatdown went really long, so long that I thought maybe Masters getting hurt messed something up, but he was in and trying to do normal offense later on. It was just too long. It’s actually kind of amazing Masters was able to do as much as he did, but the effort seemed to leave his knee much worse – he was limping early, and done after the double flapjack attempt on Chessman and Averno. He gets credit for trying to be professional. This would’ve been such a strange show leading into Guerra de Titanes if it had happened – this feels like an average TV taping in the middle of a cycle, not something set up for right before the PPV. The crowd really makes this much more enjoyable than it would’ve been in another arena, I hope they go back to Juarez again.
