CMLL Puebla: 2015-12-28

CMLL Internet Exclusives: 2015-12-28
Recapped: 12/28/2015

What happened: Policeman lost his hair to local hero Stigma. The oddball team of Ripper, Kraneo and Mephisto beat the Sky Team to earn a trios title match (probably next week.) La Mascara defeated Negro Casas in a single match. Arena Puebla appeared to be filled to capacity for the show.

What was good: Pretty much everything. Avoid the segunda and the cage match is a cage match, but the other stuff was perfectly entertaining.

Where can I watch it: It’s up on CMLL’s channel.

Match 1: Astro, Meyer, Zaeta Roja vs El Malayo, Guerrero Espacial, Mini Joker
Arena Puebla, 12/28/2015

  1. tecnicos
    • Zaeta Rojo powerbomb Guerrero Espacial (6:15)
    • Astro quebrada Mayalo (6:31)
  2. rudos
    • Guerrero Espacial el Pulpo Meyer (4:44)
  3. tecnicos
    • Zaeta Roja Salida del Sol Guerrero Espacial (3:22)
    • Astro half crab Mini Joker (3:51)

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 15:06

Review: [good] Fine opener match, especially considering the lack of experience from all involved. Maybe a generous grade but it was entertaining. Bumpy at times but it’s a lot of young kids so it’s to be expected. Zaeta looked good at times, looked not good at other times, needs a lot more practice with Kalisto’s finisher. Mini Joker was the stand out on the other side. Lots of half crabs for finishers, felt like a NJPW opener.

Match 2: Black Tiger, Millenium, Starman vs Cancerbero, Fuerza Chicana, Raziel
Arena Puebla, 12/28/2015

  1. tecnicos
    • Millenium top rope tope con giro Fuerza Guerrera (7:19)
    • Black Tiger huracanrana Cancerbero (7:29)
  2. rudos
    • Cancerbero motocicleta Starman (6:10)
  3. rudos
    • Fuerza Chicana cradle DDT Millenium (5:11)
    • Raziel tapatia, Cancerbero reverse neckbreaker (6:17)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 19:56

Review: [ok] Raziel know how to work a long boring match like no one else. This one went really long, way longer than it needed to be. The first fall seemed like it went really long with the mat wrestling, and then the second fall couldn’t really shake out of the funk. This wasn’t much of a match for the tecnicos. Large crowd didn’t explode much for the comeback when it finally happened, they didn’t get to do much on their own, and the tecnicos got beat in the end anyway.

Match 3: Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Kráneo, Mephisto, Ripper
Arena Puebla, 12/28/2015

  1. rudos
    • Kraneo running hip smash Mistico (2:35)
  2. Sky Team
    • Valiente Buster on Ripper (3:12)
  3. rudos
    • Mephsito Devil’s Wings Volador (2:48)
    • Ripper face first powerbomb Valiente (2:52)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:38
Notes: rudos challenged for a trios title match, then took Mistico’s mask after the match. Volador wanted a mask vs hair match with Ripper, which is not happening.

Review: [good] this was a great change of pace: a speedy high spot focused trios match with some comedy between Volador and Mije. It was nothing more than the sub ten minutes of a normal Sky Team match but it felt like a lot more coming after the previous boring match. Title match should be fun next week, even if the rudos have no shot at winning.

What happened to Mije? Volador happened.

Match 4: La Máscara vs Negro Casas
Arena Puebla, 12/28/2015

  1. La Mascsara double knee smash (0:50)
  2. Negro Casas casita (1:26)
  3. La Mascara foul (5:28)

Winner: La Mascara (2-1)
Match Time: 7:44
Notes: Terror Chino got knocked down and missed the foul kick, as usual.

Review: [good] Entertaining match, probably more than I expected. La Mascara has switched from being a third rate Hector Garza to a second rate Ingobernable La Sombra and it’s actually a marked improvement. Just the right combination of sarcasm, arrogance, and occasional actual wrestling. Negro Casas was working hard too, and they packed a lot into the time they had. This is one where it would’ve been better just doing it a lightning match, because the first two falls didn’t add anything to it, but it was still a fun time.

Match 5: Stigma vs Espíritu MalignoFuegoRey CometaKing JaguarSkándaloOkumuraPolicemanDisturbioCanelo Casas in a cage match, loser loses mask or hair
Arena Puebla, 12/28/2015

  1. Okumura escapes (3:23)
  2. Disturbio escapes (4:43)
  3. Rey Cometa escapes (6:01)
  4. Canelo Casas escapes (6:50)
  5. Fuego escapes (7:18)
  6. Espiritu Maligno escapes (8:22)
  7. King Jaguar escapes (10:32)
  8. Skandalo escapes (13:45)
  9. Stigma piggyback stunner Policeman (16:15)

Winner: Stigma
Loser: Policeman
Match Time: 16:15
Review: [ok] it was a CMLL cage match, what do you want. It was better than the Friday one because it felt like they had worked out more elimination spots (rather than people just leaving), though there’s not so many spots that you didn’t get a lot of repeats from one to the next. Guys got to stop trusting other people to go up to the top rope. Rey Cometa did a top rope Spanish Fly and a crazy exit from the cage, so he’s still crazy. They did a better job of teasing alternate outcomes than the cage match. Super Comando and the Panther had the much more dramatic ending; this one only lasted as long as it did because Stigma couldn’t get his finish set up right.

  1. I noticed policemans hair wasn’t gelled as usual in his entrance, so he must not have fancied his own chances Honestly thought we mite have had scandalos mask when jaguar escaped!
