  1. DQ Trauma II [plastic chair shot to the back] (9:10)
  2. Golden Magic Anibalina (9:27)

Winner: Golden Magic (2-1)
Match Time: 18:37
Notes: IWRG actually airs taped promos from both guys before the match.

Review: [ok] This has nothing to do with this match, but this show also has the Impossible/Hijo del Pantera title match that’s clearly everything I want to see from 2015 IWRG judging from my picks, and yet I could not get that match to record. Life is cruel. It’s too bad, because maybe I would’ve got into that match and this one didn’t connect to me it all. It’s just a very generic IWRG match, with technical master Trauma II no better than Golden Magic on the mat, and really neither guy showing as strong a personality as they’ve displayed at other times. Trauma II getting disqualified for using a chair shot makes sense for a title match, but feels like an easy way out of Trauma having to drop falls. Mr. Magia being dressed in gear when his only role on the show is to second his son seems like a little league parent. The finish seemed to come as a surprise to everyone but the referee, though the crowd did react well. Much better than me.

    • Rush senton Volador Jr. (4:17)
  2. tecnicos
    • Volador backcracker Rush (4:28)
    • La Mistica on La Mascara (4:36)
  3. tecnicos
    • DQ Rush [foul kick to Mistico] (10:34)

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 19:27
Notes: Match is slightly edited but otherwise a really easy watch for a handheld match.

Review: [great] weird alternate universe where the Ingobernables are actually full time rudos and the promotion feels on fire. Caristico is totally fired up for this match and the crowd is right with them. Rush & La Mascara play off it the right way, with Mascara specifically dropping most of his mannerisms and playing a much more suitable straight rudo for once. (He’s better than usual, though the lack of camera switches expose how much fake slapping he generates on soft kicks, and he blows a double suplex badly.) Volador’s weirdly the worst guy in this match, looking off in the second half of the battle, and deflating the crowd with the bad handspring tumble. Carisitco is surprisingly the sharper looking member of his team, set on having a strong performance in his return to Arena Mexico. This leans a bit towards all star match rather than exhibition; this is one where there’s no real attempt to win until it’s time for the finish, but the atmosphere makes up for it. A very suitable return for Caristico and worth checking out.

  11. Toro Machine tilted crab Aramis (26:22)
  12. Dragon Fly guillotine Toro Machine (27:15)
  13. Rene Rocks cradle powerbomb Latigo (32:07)

Winner: Rene Rocks
Match Time: 32:07
Notes: No elimination order because I’m not sure who most of these people are. Latigo has the match won when two of the visiting Morelia team pull him out to disrupt the team. There’s some finger pointing and tension on team IWRG after the match, with people literally kicking Latigo while he’s down. Scrums break out, with Eterno rushing into help his guys (Alas de Acero, Aramis, Fly Dragon and Atomic Star.) The other four are all unmasked. Eterno takes the microphone to yell at the tecnico losers and challenge the winners. Rene defends his side.

Review: [good] Not the crazy go nuts cibernetico of times past, but a solidly entertaining cibernetico for rookies. There are some guys who don’t appear to be much good, but there’s a few interesting people on the outside team, and an actual angle in one of these. Plus, the usual mid match riot is fun (and always a good jumping in point.) The Eterno/Terry split is really hurting the home team’s record in these matches. Hijo del Alebrije is a guy I’ve seen listed on a million IWRG matches and watched about zero of them, but he seemed perfectly fine here as a slightly tall luchador who can do some moderately well flips. I could’ve used more flips out of Aramis and Alas de Acero – this match ended up CMLL style with rapid fire eliminations once they got going – but they got in some unexpected tag team spots. This match was as hard to follow as all of them: the announcers not only barely know the visiting team (pretty sure they called two different people Toro Machine, and Hades & Obituary never seem to be called by name), but they’re not really clear on the names of the guys who are on the show either way. IWRG’s crack production crew includes a handheld guy who is rooted into his spot and refuses to move even when the referee is directly standing in front of him. Black Drago helps out by wearing a completely red outfit, but at least has his name on it (as Black Dragon). Rene Rocks stood out the most positively on the Morelia side; he does a lot of strikes and they don’t look like they make a big deal of impact, and he’s a guy in black gear with a normal person look, but he has some sort of charisma that makes him stand out. I can’t even explain it but there’s something there with him, and he seemed to move around well. He seemed like the right pick to win.

Winner: Mala Hiebra
Match Time: 6:57 in highlights, including some time between the falls

Review: [good] that’s a low rating; I have trouble scoring highlight only matches as something you should watch, but this is really close to being one. It’s maybe just more hurt by knowing you can’t watch the whole thing; it looks extremely fun for the amount (50%? 30%?) we actually can see. Mala Hiebra remains on fire as a trio and are now way over with this crowd, and the Turtles can keep up with them. I don’t know who the new Leo is, but he seems to be a very good luchador who does really well in his spots. The turtle comeback is awesome, as is the finish. I would definitely watch this again if it came out in full.

RUDO VISION+LuchaTV

Winner: Aramis, Fly Star, Toxin
Match Time: 6:07 shown in highlights

Review: [ok] This was highlight too, but this one was a lot harder for me to watch (like there was something off with the video) and I have no idea why. Everyone seemed harder to identify, which I guess is going to happen when watching brothers luchadors and not brother ninja turtles. Maybe that’s why this one felt more like a collection of really cool spots and less of a match, because I couldn’t even get a good grasp of who was who and who was on each team. The spots are cool, but you’d get all you need out of it from the +LuchaTV version specially designed for highlights. There’s some value here, but the previous match was much better given the same limitations of format.

Winner: Caristico (La Mistica on Angel de Oro)
Match Time: 16:43

Review: [good] It’s Caristico’s debut with Cara Lucha, but the rudos steal the show. Caveranrio and Hechicero are the best tag team that hasn’t been a tag team much this year. They’re great together, with fun teamwork and chemistry, and dominate the first stretch of this match against the two tecnicos. Caristico and Angel de Oro are reduced to getting in a move here and there for a while (until it turns into everyone just getting in a move) and look better doing that than their normal big runs, so it works for everyone. Crowd is into the match, enjoying the brawling early and the big moves get a reaction late. Caristico looks good when he finally does get out on offense, so good that I’m surprised he didn’t ask to work with these guys again. Maybe that’s just more what I want to see.
