Pentadriver

Recapped: 11/27/2015

What happened:  Pentagon beat Jack Evans to set up a tag title rematch. Mamba attacked Pimpinela Escarlata to continue their never ending feud.

This turns out to be Cibernetico’s last TV appearance. He jumps to All Elite soon after this airs.

What was good:  I liked the opener the best. The other matches were not bad, and it was an overall fine show.

Where can I watch it:  It’s on my channel and now on AAA’s channel

The review of last week includes Electroshock carrying Rey around on his shoulders, which we didn’t actually see last week.

The show starts with an edited version of the main event from last week (as the UTDN bonus.) The post match attack cuts out at the same time.

Match 1: Faby Apache, Mr. 450, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Hombre Sin Miedo, Mocho Cota Jr., Taya

Winner: rudos (Mocho Cota Jr. powerbomb Mr. 450
Match Time: 10:58
Notes: First match on the show starts at 19:00 if you’re watching on YouTube. Leo Riano replaces Andres Maronas and Arturo Rivera for this taping.

Hijo del Tirantes is referee, and takes an armdrag from Faby as always. Mamba, in street clothes, attacked Pimpinela after the match and declares herself as the only queen there. Mamba also declares Mocho Cota is a the King, an odd statement that’s not dwelled on.

Review: [good] much better than the last Taya/Faby opener, which the locals really adding to the match and feeling much more like a fight than something to kill time. It was heavily built on a lot of loud chops, with the action picking up as they went along. The usual Faby/Tirantes shenanigans were kept to a minimum. This last half of this was the best Mr. 450 match so far, and he actually did a 450 splash – didn’t quite hit, but he did it. Pimpinela is still a limiting factor on these matches, but was used well here. Mocha Cota winning clean, when he’s unlikely to appear until the next time they’re in Nuevo Laredo, sure is weird. Just normally weird, so about right.

strange teamwork
Mr. 450 does a 450 before a German suplex
450 tope
Mr. 450 does a 450 (and misses)

Match 2: Angélico, Garza Jr., Jack Evans vs Hijo del Fantasma, Joe Lider, Pentagón Jr.
Polyforum la Fe, Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, 11/02/2015
Video:

Winner: rudos (Pentagon Pentadriver Jack Evans)
Match Time: 16:24
Notes: Pentagon confronts Jack and Angelico in the entrance way. Copetes is referee. Pentagon Jr.’s package piledriver is now the Pentadriver. Hijo del Fantasma’s tope is the Flecha Negra.

Review: [ok] Kind of disappointing. The rudo section was the style I don’t like and the tecnicos never got rolling. Garza Jr. had a bad match. Rudos constantly using chairs and a stapler on the tecnicos, but Jack needing to crawl to the corner to make a legal before Garza Jr. can help out is cartoonish. Crowd was loudly behind the rudos, Pentagon Jr. in particular, and heavily disliked Garza Jr. Garza did the stop sign spot twice, I’d boo him too. Weird they edited the sunset flip bomb with Angelico & Lider and left Garza hitting the top rope and diving to his doom alone. This editing also featured a zoom in on Pentagon Jr.’s shoulders being off the mat while he was being counted down.

that’s one way to stop him
great moments in AAA editing

powerbomb backbreaker

Noti AAA

  • Dr. Wagner Jr. appeared in Nuevo Laredo – more on that next week
  • Recap of last week’s show ending attack on Electroshock again, focusing on Pirata turning on Electroshock
  • Hijo del Fantasma is still looking for a challenger
  • Joe Lider & Pentagon Jr. appear to repeat their tag title challenge. Pentagon Jr. is still really upset about losing their tag titles because Steve Pain lost.

Match 3: Drago, La Parka, Speedball vs Averno, Chessman, Cibernético
Polyforum la Fe, Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, 11/02/2015
Video:

Winner: tecnicos (Drago Dragon’s Tail cradle Chessman)
Match Time: 14:57
Notes: Rudos attack the tecnicos after the match, but they cut away as quickly as possible.

Review: [ok] standard AAA main event, with the tecnicos going thru all their offense. This worked out because the Hellbrothers were game to make all the offense look good, as different as Speedball’s martial arts kicks and La Parka’s offense. This works to Speedball’s benefit. He looked lost in the early chaos, but does a better job going one on one thru the rudos. (though Cibernetico has trouble selling for the kicks in any meaningful.) It doesn’t work as well for the viewer when La Parka has three and half minutes of comedy he’s going thru. The live crowd liked it better. This was both definitely better than I thought it’d be and a good sign for Speedball and overly long.
