Mistico and Caristico unite, DTU tag tournament, who owns the Hell Brothers names?

DTU (SAT) 12/05/2015 Autolavado VM, Tulancingo, Hidalgo [DTU]
1) Pesadilla ?? Black Fire, Hormiga, Black Boy, Abadon, Paranoiko
2) Atila (Veracruz) & Tiburón (Veracruz) b El Chato & El Nene and Flyer Boy (Veracruz) & Lobo Kid (Veracruz) [DTU NEXO, semifinal]
The Veracruz duo advance to the 12/19 final
3) Corsario Negro Jr. & Drako b Jimmy & Kevin and Ángel o Demonio & Ovett [DTU NEXO, semifinal]
Jimmy & Kevin fell apart yet again. Corsario Negro & Drako advance to the 12/19 final.
4) Drastik Boy b Lokillo, Ángel del Misterio
5) Cíclope & Miedo Extremo L Chica Ye-Ye & El Exótico and Lanzeloth & Rocky Lobo [DTU NEXO, semifinal]
Ciclope & Miedo were counted out and the other two teams went to a draw, so the three way title match will now be a four way title match.

In much the same way as NJPW, the people in DTU’s advancing to the tag title match on their biggest show of the year were always going to be the regulars who weren’t already in an important match. The Veracruz guys are a curveball but seem unlikely to win. Also much like NJPW, DTU actually posted their own results so people who have an idea who won and lost. That’s helpful.

CMLL (SAT) 12/05/2015 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Apocalipsis b Bengala
2) Inquisidor b Robin
3) Súper Halcón Jr. b Hijo del Signo
Halcon won with the Halcon Driver (which looks like a Michinoku Driver)
4) Hombre Bala Jr. DQ Nitro
Nitro fouled Bala for the DQ.
5) Sangre Azteca b Tritón
Azteca used the counter dropkick to set up the win
6) Guerrero Maya Jr. & The Panther b Misterioso Jr. & Sagrado
Maya & Panther won again, demanded an Arena Coliseo tag team title match.
7) Atlantis, Blue Panther, Titán b Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
Mexican trios champs lost a non-title match, though it’s unlikely to be mentioned again.

On Super Libre, Delta said he doesn’t know why he’s no longer teaming with Maya, but it does seem like that team’s done. T. Panther happens to be in the spot now, and I guess we know if it’ll stick depending on if they get the titles.

CMLL Elite (SUN) 12/06/2015 Arena México [+LuchaTV, CMLL, MT]
1) Astral & Principe Diamante b Mini Karonte & Pierrothito
Mini Karonte was introduced by his brother Caristico. It’s unspecified if he’s Mini Murder Clown or someone new, but he has the body type of Mini Murder Clown. Pierroth replaced Demus.
2) Magnus & Robin b Eterno & Fresero Jr.
Fresero Jr. replaced Tabu on Wednesday.
3) Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus b Argos, Canis Lupus, Emperador Azteca
Argos was injured and stretched out.
4) Rey Cometa & Stuka Jr. b Trauma I & Trauma II
5) Black Warrior, Marco Corleone, Rush DQ Bestia 666, Damián 666, Halloween
Halloween fouled Marco.
6) Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. DQ Cibernético, Mephisto, Sharly Rockstar
Sharlie Rockstar (ex-Charly Manson) was added on Friday. This is his first match in four years (prison.) Cibernetico, Mephisto and Rockstar were wearing Hell Brothers shirts and introducing themselves under that name. Rudos were DQed for attacking the referee, then attacked Mistico after the match. Caristico made the save. The two Misticos faced off, but shook hands and announced they’d form their own team.

Mistico and Caristico not only said they were forming a team, but said they’d have a mystery third partner next week. I believe Sin Cara is busy. Maybe Sagrado is free. Maybe el Angel is free. There are so many knock off Mistico’s to choose from.

Attendance was nothing special for this show, the same as Sundays were doing before the format chance (or maybe worse.) At this point, the undercard is probably the same cost or cheaper, but the main events are probably not. There’s a lot of reasons why this concept might not be working – the Rockstar/Manson return story got a little pick up on Sunday, but not enough to mean anything – but I think it’s mostly not going to mean a lot unless they get TV coverage. There does appear to be cameras at ringside for this show, but that doesn’t mean it’s going anywhere.

The rudos wearing the AAA Hell Brothers shirts is quite a thing. My recollection was AAA owned that name, but it’s good to check the facts to make sure they match up with what you remember. According to the Mexican trademark office, the owners of the phrase “Hell Brothers” and the logo is two people jointly: Cibernetico and Averno. (The actual PDF doesn’t seem to have both the names on it, and I’m not sure what the difference is, but “Renato Ruiz Cortes” is on the digital page.) This appears to confirm Averno was planning to leave AAA at that date and to work that first 11/15 show with Cibernetico. He might have changed his mind later on, but all the shows which have come out with his name on it are there probably because he said he was going to do them. The trademark was filed for on November 6th. Cibernetico’s last match with AAA was on November 5th in Guadalajara.

It’s strange Chessman’s name wasn’t on the card, but maybe that means he wasn’t ever close to going, or wasn’t at that moment they got to put that paper work in. The filing date being on 11/06, nine days before Cibernetico’s scheduled first match, suggests his jump was something being worked out for a while and not just put together right before the card went up. The trademark hasn’t yet been approved (so AAA could fight if they’d like, and they probably would like.)

Sharly Rockstar said leaving CMLL last night time was one of his big mistakes. In video, Sharly implied he was recently released, but didn’t offer any other details. Electroshock and Lady Apache wrote well wishes about his return on Twitter.

I presume that’s Mini Murder Clown, but Mini Murder Clown is still showing as listed on AAA spot shows. Don’t put it in your wiki yet.

Lucha Memes added another match to their 12/25 card. Show so far
Negro Navarro vs Virus
Black Terry & El Dandy vs Trauma I & Trauma II
Keira vs Marclea (c) for CMLL Women’s Championship
Negro Casas vs Dr. Cerbero – new

Alberto did work the WWC show last night as scheduled. He lost to Ray Gonzalez by DQ when his brother Hijo de Dos Caras ran in for the DQ save. Alberto’s WWE deal likely precludes him from working any more with WWC – this was agreed to before Alberto went back and WWE allowed him to keep the date with WWC – but it looks like Hijo de Dos may be inserted to take over the feud (and take the eventual loss.) They had a good turnout for the show; saw an early estimate of 4000

Lineups

DTU (SAT) 12/19/2015 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Destello vs Vengador, Aeropower, Ángel del Misterio, Aero Power, Perro Negro Jr., Joven Maravilla, Adrenalina Fly, El Nene, El Chato, Niño De Cobra, Flyer Boy, Kid Lobo
2) Chica Ye-Ye & Exotico vs Atila (Veracruz) & Tiburón (Veracruz) and Corsario Negro Jr. & Drako and Lanzeloth & Rocky Lobo [DTU NEXO]
vacant titles
3) Kevin vs Tony, Jimmy [hair]
4) Black Fire vs Drastik Boy vs Lokillo vs Jinzo
winner will get to go to WXW Germany
5) Ángel o Demonio & Ovett vs Black Terry & Blue Panther and Paranoiko & Shyru Dragon
6) Cíclope vs Miedo Extremo vs Violento Jack vs Aero Boy [hair, mask]

This is the 8th Anniversary show card. Violento Jack has Japanese spikes to use in his match. So that seems fun. My guess is Drastik Boy wins the WXW trip because we can be pretty sure he has a visa. I like Lanzeloth & Rocky Lobo in the tag title match. I can not pick between the Nerds, it too hard. I hope friendship wins that match.

12/05 AAA TV Results (Neza)

AAA TV (SAT) 12/05/2015 Arena Neza [AAA, Estrellas del Ring]
1) Fireball & Neza Kid b El Apache & Soul Rocker
Added match. Fireball beat Soul Rocker with a Flama Fly.
2) Dinastía & Venum b Mini Abismo Negro & Mini Psycho Clown
Venum was sort of a fill in for Mascarita Sagrada, as the opener got split in half to add another match. Dinastia beat Mini Psycho Clown with the Tulancingo Special. Pentagon, Daga and Lider destroyed the tecnicos and dedicated it to Perro Aguayo Jr.
3) Faby Apache & Goya Kong b La Hiedra & Lady Shani
Both tecnicas beat both rudas
4) Angélico, Australian Suicide, Jack Evans b Daga, Joe Lider, Pentagón Jr.
Suicide got a surprise win over Daga, but Daga took his mask and Pentagon laid out Evans again. Daga challenged for a mask vs hair match (Suicide didn’t respond) while Pentagon & Lider are still going after the tag titles.
5) Dark Cuervo, Dark Scoria, Zorro b La Parka, Monsther Clown, Murder Clown
Rudos get their first win as an official trio.
6) Fénix, Psycho Clown, Rey Misterio Jr. b Averno, Brian Cage, Chessman
Averno appeared as scheduled. Rey Mysterio appeared on crutches and said he was unable to wrestle. Rudos attacked, with Blue Demon appearing to make the save – Rey still got in a 619. Fenix won with a 450 splash on Chessman.

Air Date: Might be a while. Right now, we know Juarez will finish on 12/12. The Best of episodes are intended to be three weeks of holiday filler, so they make the most sense as airing 12/19, 12/26, and 01/02. That would mean this taping is the first new episodes of 2016, and would air 01/09 and 01/16. Whatever order they go with, AAA now has enough TV to last thru mid January.

Guerra de Titanes figures to be in first half of January to air directly following that show. That’s long enough away where AAA still has a bit of time to figure out where and when exactly. The complication is Lucha Underground is scheduled to tape January 9th/10th and January 16th/17th, ruling those out for a big AAA show. It probably has to be that first weekend of January – 2nd/3rd or even a Three Kings Day show if their luchadors aren’t already committed to other shows – unless they’re going to have a midweek PPV.

The handling of the Rey Mysterio injury is a bit shady. Blue Demon was in town last night, signing autographs at his shop near Arena Mexico, so this probably wasn’t a last minute injury substitution. Rey being in Arena Neza was the big draw for this show, but AAA (main show) TV tapings do very well in Estado de Mexico always; they could probably sell out 6 tapings a year in the Mexico City area if they weren’t concerned about hurting TripleMania’s specialness. Maybe they had a notice on the ticket window like they did for Alberto, but this fits a pattern.

What would’ve happened if Guerra de Titanes happened as scheduled and Rey/Mundo was still the main event and the only match of notice? I dunno, but I’m glad we didn’t find out.

One item coming thru stronger on TV than in the live event recaps is the tag title feud is partially a setup feud. Pentagon lays out Jack (and not Angelico) every time and has started about talking about going after Jack’s hair. It kind of reminds of the Perro/Jack feud from a few years ago, which was a fun idea for the time they teased it and then never really paid off. This is also a fun idea! Hopefully it’ll end better. The other TV thing I’ve picked up is AAA is working very hard to get Pentagon Jr. on TV each and every week. If he doesn’t have a match, he’s running in beating up people like he did with the minis here. The match results aren’t moving as quick with him as you’d like, but they trying to treat him like a bigger deal.

Not a lot else of note. Averno did show up here and not in New York, and I’m now skeptical he’s working any of the Caristico/Elite dates. This show still seems to be building towards the Guerra de Titanes card we thought was going to exist, not the one that was announced (and still might exist.) Zorro, Cuervo and Escoria might need a name, but also seem like a darkhorse bet to end up the trios champions whenever that gets addressed, since they’re a trio and there’s not that many of them running around right now.

Next show is sometime 2016.
