Tortugas Ninja: Leo vs Rafy vs

Winner: Leo (top rope huracanrana on Rafy)
Match Time: 12:03
Notes: This was supposed to be all four Ninja Turtles, but Teelo didn’t make it and only appeared sparingly the rest of the year.

Review: [great] liked parts of the match really good and didn’t like other parts that much. The three way spots were very creative and fun. I liked the double dragon screw and the backcracker breaking up a reinera stood out, but there were a lot of similar cool moments. This would’ve been a very watchable match with those elements alone. They added mask ripping and bleeding and that’s where it didn’t work as well for me; it’s not only needing bleeding here, it’s also how they were so completely unsubtle about passing around the blade to do it. It was the fakest part of the match featuring three Ninja Turtles fighting and it also slowed the action way down right in the middle. Maybe they couldn’t keep the pace up otherwise and probably the live crowd wanted ot see that much more than I did, but it was going along well without it. I did like that Rafy was kind of a jerk to start it, which I believe fits the character.

Winner: Extreme Tiger (capture supelx)
Match Time: 10:22

Review: [good] Part of Flamita’s one man Mexico Super Juniors. He did not pick up three points in this one, much to my disappointment. Tiger did not seem in Flamita’s league early, with Flamita seemingly allowing him to get in a shot or two before swatting him down. Tiger took over the middle part of the match and the big run of Flamita offense I was hoping for never really appeared. Tiger did look better than usual (though there’s one kick he misses and Flamita sells anyway) and the big moves were really big moves, but I kind of wanted more Flamita. Match is worth watching to check out the Arena Azteca Budokan entrance catwalk, an amazing structure of very limited functional use.

Review: [good] I thought I needed to watch some Spider Boy matches. Kidding. It turns out you should avoid watching Spider Boy matches. He’s not very good and neither much was Psicopata or Leviatham. Terry 2000 built his appearance mostly around doing dives into the crowd. Those four felt like they took up way too much of the time, while the rest of the match built up to an interesting singles match between Flamita & Sadico. That match never happens, because lucha libre, but the last couple minutes gave us pretty much all the near falls we would’ve expected from that. Sadico’s not sometimes the smartest wrestler – I’m not sure headbutting a knee is the best strategy, but he can go and that’s really all you need for a Flamita match. Crowd was way into Flamita – and into this whole show, it seemed like – and reacted big for all of his usual near falls. Watching this one after the last one makes it feel a bit familiar, but the last few minutes of work does a lot to make up the sloppiness from the other wrestlers. And, if you like people diving into the crowd, this is another match for you.

Psicopata is not much help
Terry still caught up with him
no one helps Spider Boy
this seems like a really bad strategy
wait for the last one

Flyer vs Aramis

Winner: Flyer (middle rope Canadian Destroyer)
Match Time: 14:16

Review: [ok] Disappointing match, feeling like the downside of indy. Flyer, given a chance to cut loose after usually be limited in openers, does two straight Canadian Destroyers, argues with the referee a lot and one more for the finish. He comes off as a limited luchador who’s weaknesses are being hidden in singles matches, and worse than he did in the En Busca de un Idolo matches. He desperately needs more offense. Aramis didn’t do great here either, but he’s looked better with other people so I’m more willing to write this off as a one night bad night.

Winner: Team CaraLucha (Rayo Star & Sky Star Spanish Fly Leo)
Match Time: 10:08
Review: [good] Exactly the kind of match it should’ve been with these two teams: a ton of moves in a short amount of time. It sometimes felt like more of an exhibition of moves than a fight, especially everyone literally standing around waiting to hit moves to start, but they got more competitive later on. Ninja Turtles working a bit as a rudo were fun, and they were the more interesting of the two teams. Team Kriminal Boys and Sky Stars stick a bit too much to the repeating big indy moves while Mike is catching dives and throwing people all over the place. I guess the right team won, but I like the other team better.

Arena San Juan Pantitlan, Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, Estado de México, 06/14/2015

MisticieroTVtvluchadelpasadothegladiatores.com+LuchaTV

Winner: Volador Jr.
Match Time: 20:59

Review: [excellent] Not sure if this was going to live up to the hype early on, but it definitely got there by the end. This is a 20 minute match that flies by, going thru a few different stages. Volador works heavy rudo early on, less so early on, but his merciless attack on Flamita’s knee gives this more of an edge than the usual flyer dream match. Flamita’s the definite underdog in this one, even more so after he slips and takes a crazy tumble over the ropes to the floor. It looked and felt like a war at times, with both men looking barely conscious and times and Flamita coughing up after a particularly hard clothesline. This had all the big high spots from each two, and near finishes the crowd believed in. It was not a flawless match, and I had a few problems with this match at times. Flamita whiffs a backcracker at one point, which leads him and Volador into just repeating the same of spots and going down for another double knockout spot. The double knockout spot gets way over done in the last third of the match. I could see arguing Triton/Cavernario was a better match than this, but the finishes carry large weight for my reviews. Flamita & Volador nailed theirs and the guy who made the match more noteworthy won. That helps a lot for me.
