X-Fly loses his hair in IWRG, Puebla preview

I’m missing the undercard results from last night’s IWRG show. The main event ruleta de la muerte saw X-Fly bleed a lot, to the point where he was unable to help partner Danny Casas by the end of the tournament. Casas lost the semifinal to Diva Salvaje & Toscano by himself and beat X-Fly to take his hair after more of a battle. After the match, X-Fly talked about possibly going home to his family and retiring from lucha libre after another bad luck loss. X-Fly is one of the busiest indie guys in Mexico, and is still booked for a lot of shows going forward. I’d guess this was more inspired by losing his hair after losing a lot of blood and nothing an actual retirement plan.

In the last normal trios match of the card, Relampago had problems with Golden Magic and randomly turned rudo. Between that and the Black Terry/Eterno feud, it feels like IWRG has already figured out it’s late December/early January cards (which are usually Anniversary celebrations for the building and for the promotion separately.) The Mexico State Trios titles being brought up is interesting in only that all the Mexican State titles were planned to be vacant to start 2016. That may just be talk, or maybe the trios titles will be exempt, or maybe they’ll just do one last title match before they give them away.

CMLL’s Arena Puebla show has Atlantis, Mistico, Volador Jr. versus Euforia, Gran Guerrero and Ultimo Guerrero. Semimain is a rematch between Marco, Maximo, Porky and Kraneo, Ripper and Shocker, which seemed to be setting up a Shocker/Maximo title match. Puebla locals on the show are Lestat, King Jaguar, Policeman, Guerrero Espacial, Fuerza Chicana, Meyer and debuting mystery man Magia Blanca. There’s no super promising match on the show and it seems like an easy one to skip, but it still will air on YouTube at 9pm CT and I’ll have a recap later tonight.

AAA’s announcement over this weekend is a “A Tribute Lucha”, a new book of lucha libre photography. It doesn’t appear to be on sale yet; the publishing company doesn’t list it on it’s website. I don’t know how to buy it.

An article on the Que Viva el Rey show in Merida credits Rey Misterio and Blue Demon for staying long after the show to sign autographs and take pictures. They say the show drew 3,500.

Daisuke Hanaoka is almost certainly losing his hair this weekend in Xalapa.

DoradaFan has highlights of 07/20/2015 Arena Puebla. I still need to go put that show back on YouTube.
