Review: [good] Not giving up on the Ninja Turtles! They wouldn’t give up on me. This is a rare chance to see the Terrible Cerberos wrestle as a rudos, and they’re particularly harsh to this tecnico team leading to the win. The Ninja Turtles really never get to cut loose; the first fall is turtle technical wrestling (with Skayde the one doing the highspots) and the comeback doesn’t really get going before the finish. That mat wrestling is good, especially Mike and Black Terry’s opening section, but it another match where their characters kind of disappear. Never reaches the heights it might and is another one IWRG match which feels like part of an unfinished story, but an enjoyable match on it’s own.

Notes: No sound on this one and the frame rate is messed up.

Review: [good] Another strong Impossible title match with some creativity. I don’t like how he has to force the stairs silla every match, but Imposible will give you things like the corkscrew headscissors being used as a setup for a finish (not just a first fall mat wrestling show off move.) They packed a lot in the third fall, with Leo feeling like he could’ve won. Would’ve liked to be able to hear the crowd to see how much they bought into it. Finish seemed abrupt, with a counter dropkick ending it after Leo had hit many big moves, but they acted like Imposible broke some Leo ribs (and maybe he did!) so it ended up working.

this spot is forced in the context of the match, but looks good out of context in a GIF. Good GIFs do not necessarily mean good match.

Winner: Team Eterno (2-1)
Match Time: 16:07
Notes: Referees were outside checking on people when Eterno got in the foul.

Review: [good] energetic rookie match with some flaws at times. Aramis is the one from this group who’s taken off this year – though mostly outside of IWRG – and you get a little bit of that here, but all four trainees are treated about equal. The brawling works for the intra school battle. Aeroman did some neat flying, but had a brutal kick sequence in the third fall. Atomic Star looks not much like an Atomic Star, or much of anything, even though he’s capable. Classic AYM production work, cutting away from the Spanish Fly as it happens.

Eterno definitely teaching many ways to leap off the top rope
different kind of veg-o-matic
that doesn’t seem fun for anyone

This is technically a Lucha Libre Boom show, but it’s the same arena.

Review: [great] similar in style and about at the same level as some of the big AAA multiman matches from recent years. This is definitely worth watching if you were into those, and it’s a nice snap spot of this style of lucha libre in 2015. It’s in a much a smaller building than those AAA matches and must’ve felt incredible live. Those AAA matches were probably a little bit better at hanging together as matches, while this was a lot of guys going thru very unrelated sequences and people just walking away from the action for no reason other than they weren’t part of the next spot. The dive sequence early on was fantastic, and may have set the record for most dives into a crowd in a single match. Flamita looked a cut above, with people wanting to forearm him in the face and Flamita hitting back harder every single time. He didn’t get a lot of time until late, and the moment where they teased he might go out much earlier was kind of upsetting for that reason. Freleance & Suicida stole the show (and the finishes were kind of set up for that) with their runs in the match; they were in most frequently middle option. Golden Magic did not look bad, but it was odd that the arena hero was the least impressive guy in the match. (He was also the guy who kicked out of his finish 3.0001.) It didn’t feel like Dinamic Black was the right guy to go the final either, but he also wasn’t bad – no one was bad here. I’m not really sure why there were two referees in the ring for this match the whole time, except it made for a ludicrous moment where they threated to end the match by countout when it was down to three. Also weird: whoever was masquerading as Hijo de Carta Brava, because he was much taller than the regular two Juniors and didn’t fit in this match.

the good thing about the slip is it gives extra time for the fans to get out of the way
no idea who he actually landed on
this match wasn’t all leaps into the crowd but they’re fun to GIF
don’t mess with Flamita

    • Hijo del Pantera single underhook buster Hijo del Diablo (13:11)

Winner: Panteras
Match Time: 28:31

Review: [ok] this match made the watch list to check in on what Hijo del Pantera after returning from Japan and Dragon Celestial after the character change. Are they interesting luchadors? I still have no idea. This was a slow technical match with low energy most of the way. It didn’t really pick up until six minutes into the third fall, which is a long way to go for a match to pick up. The last couple of minutes feel like they belong to an entirely different match. They seemed to be going for classic title match style, which didn’t work well and came off more as move release move style with no real sequences or back and forth. The sons mostly worked the opposite fathers; the 60 seconds they got together looked good, though that was also during a stretch of some awful AYM camera work. Maybe the style would’ve works better for other people, maybe my ratings for this match and the last say more about me, but this match really didn’t much for me and OK seems generous given how much time it took to go anywhere.

Review: [ok] another match where I saw a bunch of IWRG young people who’ve been around a bunch this year and just wanted to find out if any of there were good. They’re not great, but they have promise. Omega and Atomic Star have been around for a lot longer than the other two and it shows; Atomic Star was easily the best guy in this match. Newbie Eternus blew his first move of the match but looked better than rest of the way and took some high backdrops. Ram, who’s a regular in Arena Aficion, looked the least impressive. They all showed some skills but also looked super sloppy at times; this was like an Arena Puebla opener, but those usually have at least one vet to keep it looking good.

his first move of the match!
When you wear fringe on your pants in Mexico, you’re required to do this once a match. It’s a tough but fair rule.
