RIOT (SAT) 11/14/2015 Arena Femenil, Monterrey, Nuevo León[LuchaMania Monterrey]
1) Karisma b Poly Star
2) Tony Rodriguez b Erick Ortiz
3) Arez & Belial b Hooligan Byron & Kaientai
Kaientai & Hooligan Byron are going by Generation One. Arez beat Kaientai with a Samoan Driver.
4) Rico Rodríguez b Alberto Dos Rios
Tony Rodriguez challenged Rico Rodriguez after the match, but Rico explained he only wrestles top stars.
5) Low Rider & Sammy Guevara b Kratoz & Ultimo Ninja
Low Rider dropped Ultimo Ninja with the Pisoton Doble and Guevara added kicks to win. The outside rudos had earlier taken out the referee, which the Monterrey guys felt cost them the win, and they wanted a extreme rematch. Low Rider accepted, but Sammy had no idea because he doesn’t speak Spanish.
6) Dralion b Impulso
Dralion used a variant of the Dralion Suplex for the win. Dralion said he wanted to fight Arez next. Arez came out and said OK, but it’d have to be at another show – he’s down to one pair of pants after Caifan ripped up his other pair on the last show. Remembering that, Arez took the moment to challenge Caifan to a title. rematch (for the Perros del Mal Light Heavyweight Title.) Fans asked for a three way match between Arez, Dralion and Caifan.

I can’t fight because I only have one pair of pants is the best reason not to fight that I’ve ever heard.

A show. No sign of any angle. Not missing this show all that much.

The weekly AAA in Guadalajara Thursday show was canceled this week. They’re supposed to run two more weeks, and say they’ll announce lineups soon.

Konnan was back on his MLW Radio podcast yesterday. I took some notes. Konnan claimed Cibernetico was still under AAA contract, AAA lawyers have told Cibernetico’s people, and they will go to court to enforce the lawsuit. It was explained this didn’t happen with some of the other departures because Alberto’s contract had expired a month prior and Myzteziz was never under contract. (It’s unclear why Cibernetico was the only one of these three under contract, or why AAA would sue to bring Cibernetico back.)

Konnan says Elite is throwing big money at AAA wrestlers because they’ve found bringing indie wrestlers in to main event hasn’t worked. Cibernetico was offered a multiyear deal and a signing bonus. (Elite being around for multiple years seems optimistic.) Chessman, Cuervo, Averno, Sexy Star, Pentagon and others were all offered deals, the others turned it down, and so Black Warrior got brought back once again.

Konnan and Court Bauer also talked about the Verano de Escandalo Guerra de Titanes card that was posted here. The segment came off as if Konnan was hearing the final lineup for the card for the first time. Konnan explained he wanted to do a tournament for the heavyweight title and Speedball & Willie Mack were originally supposed to be in the tag team title match instead of Chessman & Averno. Konnan said the Hell Brothers were added for political reasons (probably because of the Elite offers.) Jack Evans voiced his displeasure with Averno & Chessman being added; Konnan too has posted comments on Twitter in recent weeks that seem like unhappiness with being overruled on booking decisions, and it came off like this card was more of that.

I’m kind of two minds about the tournament. AAA looks clownish by going out of the way to announce they were doing a tournament and then not doing a tournament. On the other hand, there’s no real point to doing a tournament if the final was going to be Johnny Mundo versus Rey Mysterio. That’s easier match to sell than a tournament, Rey doesn’t need to be wrestling multiple singles matches on a show, and the appeal of a tournament is someone unexpected might reach the final or win and these are the two most expected guys.

Mundo/Rey makes sense as the Guerra de Titanes match if that’s locked in for TripleMania in some fashion, and those are the two biggest names AAA has access to at the moment. It just doesn’t feel like a safe bet to lock in Rey can’t stop saying he’d go back to WWE if they gave him the right deal (especially when they just gave Alberto that deal!) I don’t have a real solution here – if Rey’s going to be booked like the best guy in the promotion, he should be champion, but the only way to bring someone up to that level is to give them some of those big wins. Rey/Mundo is probably the best decision for Guerra de Titanes and for TripleMania 2016, but maybe not for TripleMania 2017 and 2018 and 2019 when either or both aren’t good bets to be around.

No Suicide/Daga, no Fantasma open challenge (especially given Speedball has nothing to do) feels like whoever put together this card for AAA’s biggest show of the year isn’t actually watching AAA’s TV. Maybe they’re waiting for it to go up on YouTube too. I’m also not sure why Averno & Chessman had to replace Willie Mack & Speedball instead of just having both teams there: four ways are dumb, but not really any dumber than three ways. It really should only be a 2v2 match given the angle they’ve done on TV (or they should’ve done something in Juarez or Xalapa to explain why it’s a 3 way match.)

Bobby Z is unhappy with the FantasticaMania roster. Bobby feels that winning En Busca de un Idolo not only gave him the opportunity to win, but his prize was also Guerrero Maya Jr. NOT going to Japan and they’ve taken that away from him. This is a fair point, but he probably should be more concerned that he’s never gotten his title match either. (This is also a strange article for CMLL to put out, pointing out the flaw in their own booking, unless they’re planning on resolving it somehow.)

There’s a lucha libre photo exhibition opening tonight in Mexico City’s Museo Modo. AAA luchadors will be there as well and AAA held a press conference today talking about it. The exhibition is running thru mid march next year.

Puebla announced the cards for it’s lucha libre expo this weekend. There also is a column critical of the woman in charge of lucha libre commission for doing too much press as part of a future bid to run for office.

New promotion Independientes Lucha Libre Mexico held a press conference to introduce themselves. Dinamo is the general director, Climax is the general coordinator, Bad Boy is programmer. They’re planning to run every two weeks and are the 500th promotion vowing to bring back traditional lucha libre.

Apolo Valdés writes about Cibernetico coming to CMLL.

Segunda Caida reviews Puma, Tiger, Virus vs Dragon Lee, Esfinge, Pegasso.

Lineup

CMLL (TUE) 11/24/2015 Arena México
1) Bengala & Flyer vs Artillero & Cholo
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Stigma, Súper Halcón Jr. vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Sangre Azteca, Skándalo
3) Estrellita, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit vs Amapola, Dalys, Zeuxis
4) Fuego vs Virus [lightning]
5) La Máscara, Marco Corleone, Rush vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Thunder
6) Máximo Sexy, Super Porky, Valiente vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Último Guerrero

This card is not so good. A lot of these guys (Rush, Thunder, Ultimo Guerrero) aren’t usually working Tuesday shows, which I guess might mean something is up for Friday. But this card is not so good.

CMLL (TUE) 11/24/2015 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Magnum & Metatrón vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Fantasy vs Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Violencia
3) Blue Panther Jr., Delta, Rey Cometa vs Boby Z, Tiger, Vangellys
4) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Stuka Jr. vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
5) Atlantis, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Mr. Niebla

A better card, but also just a show.

One thought to “Cibernetico still under AAA contract?, non-existent tournaments”

  1. Couple of questions.

1st:If Alberto’s contract had expired a month prior, why did he still have the title? Sounds like when Jarrett had the IC belt after his contract expired. AAA is looking indy-riffic this year…

2nd: If Myzteziz was never under contract, why not, and why register the name and not put the person using it under a long term contract? AAA is looking indy-riffic this year…
