Winner: tecnicos (Charly Madird spinning DDT Fulgor I)
Match Time: 8:12
Notes: Fuglor I beat up Madrid post match for no obvious reason (except to make sure everyone gets to do a finish.)

Review: [OK] And now is the time where I watch some of the stuff I recorded months ago, didn’t pay much attention, and now are long gone. There are guys I like in this in other environments. It didn’t work as well here; match just didn’t have a good rhythm and felt like it was slowing down and speeding back up irregularly. Match appears edited with crowd shots every minute or so, but then there’s also a twenty second dead stretch with the tecnicos forgetting to come back in that’s still there. (Sound is out of sync, wish I could go back in time on that.)

Winner: Terry 2000 (double armscissors)
Match Time: 11:05
Notes: Terry 2000 talks about the titles he’s won and they show highlights of him in big matches as he talks about the big names he’s teamed with. He also walks around the arena to point out where different things happened – the place where he was stretched out once, the high place where he jumped off once. Sadico is also interviewed about facing Terry 2000 and his style. Terry 2000 talks more about being the first lightweight champion. We see the ring about 6 minutes into the segment.

Review: [ok] Decided to check in on AULL too! And, maybe it wasn’t worth checking in on. Terry 2000 may be good, but Leviatham is just a guy (and didn’t reach OK in the match I saw live in September.) There’s not many people here for this match and the lack of noise helps prevent it from reaching an interesting level, but these guys weren’t doing a lot on their own. It was just a sort of basic title match highlighted by dive into the crowd (or empty chairs), and the guy who’s been the big pushed local for a decade winning another match. I don’t want to slight Rocky Santana or anyone else, but it does seem notable that Arena Naucalpan’s turned out a lot more good or better luchador than Arena Lopez Mateos has in a similar amount of time. The interviews they did before the match were a good idea and I’d like to see more of before any more generic promos, but it did go on a little too long.

Romano Garcia cradle Euro (9:03)

Gallego figure four Filder (9:27)

Winner: Los Diabolicos
Match Time: 9:27
Notes: Rocky Santana talks about some awards he’s won. Filder & Dante talk to each other about how hard they’ve worked in the gym, but fighting the maestro team is going to be tough. Both sides shake hands before the match.

Review: [ok] Hey, Rocky Santana himself. This was a strong first fall of a three fall match which turned out to be a one fall match. They were working as a slow build up pace, still doing mat work five minutes into the match, when they only had nine minutes. That wasn’t super great, though it was good how the veterans went out of their way to let the young guys looked as good or better than them on the mat. The story of this match is both sides played fair, the Incontenibles put up a strong challenge (and hurt my argument from the last review), the vets played a veteran trick by moving out of the way for the dives and that was it. It was a sound story and maybe the length you go for a weekly TV show, but it’s more of an introduction to the characters than something you’d look back on (especially when there were only a handful of these episodes.) The young guys generally looked OK, but they didn’t stand out much and didn’t really have a chance to do so.

  3. Reyes del Atlantida
    • Guerrero Maya Sacrifica Maya Negro Casas (4:44)
    • Delta Formacion on Felino (4:47)

Winner: Reyes del Atlantida (2-1), new champions
Match Time: 11:51
Notes: Times from the ClaroSports version, which is listed as a little longer than the LATV one.

Review: [ok] I had this on my list even though I wasn’t really sure if I had recapped the match already. All the Reyes del Atlantida matches can blend together in your mind. This was the Reyes winning the belts as a transitional champion so Mr. Niebla could go back on suspension again. He’s back, made the anniversary show, and hasn’t seemed to lost his spot at all despite more issues. Niebla works a lot with Delta to start the match, and that’s a guy who sure seems to have lost his spot this year. The bad performance in En Busca de un Idolo (and maybe injuries sustained during it) has not just limited his movement up the cards but seemingly sent him back down a bit. Delta breaks out more unique offense in this match than most of that tournament, but he also falls down while trying to apply his finishing hold. That’s the most noteworthy thing of this title match, which plays out like a normal semimain and ends on the first serious attempt to win the match of the third fall. There’s no special drama to it, it’s a simple thing. The usual trios spots feel lesser than average if anything – the submission break up spots feature some really basic holds with no attempt to convince anyone that they might work. Crowd reacts for the title change and it sounds good because it’s a big crowd, but this match is just a match.

  7. La Sombra double knee smash Pólvora (12:31)
  8. Marco Corleone Aero Italia Bárbaro Cavernario (13:10)
  9. Marco Corleone La Sombra (15:09)

Winner: Marco Corleone
Match Time: 15:09
Notes: Watching ClaroSports version, which includes the battle royal. I am not going to recap that. Dragon Lee does manage to take a flip bump on a La Mascara superkick because he’s a crazy man. Sides are Polovra, Morphosis, Titan, Kamaitachi and Marco versus La Sombra, La Mascara, Ripper, Dragon Lee and Barbaro Cavernario. Ingobernables are not happy to be on opposite sides. Titan & La Mascara’s double elimination comes after Sombra breaks up a pin to save his ally. Sombra tries to sneak cradle Marco when they match up again, but Marco kicks out at two. Sombra dominates, but Marco stops Sombra with a big punch as he rushes for the double knees, body slams him, and lands the Aero Italia for the win. Replay shows Marco clipped the top rope on the way over; it was pretty hidden live.

Review: [good] A fun random cibernetico. It felt like it could’ve been more serious and bigger at the end, but they were a little rushed for time. I remember being unhappy with the order of elimination when this match occurred and the end of the match probably would’ve been better with some of those guys left, but they managed to give the early exits a lot of stuff to do. Maybe Kamaitachi was the only who was really limited, but he got to dance and that’s alright. Dragon Lee & Titan had a great counter/reversal sequences leading into Titan’s dive. Cavernario and Marco played off each other well early and set up Cavernario’s dive later. Ripper got in a lot off offense on Titan before he was gone. Seeing Pólvora nearly beat Sombra was weird. The last 90 seconds of Sombra/Marco was really good, and another point where I wish they had more time to go into it. Sombra sure does have a habit of trying to sneak cradle his friends.

thecubsfanRUDO VISION

Winner: tecnicos (Saru Canadian Destroyer Sucesor)
Match Time: 10:05

Review: [good] Sound is off on this FULL show too, though it gets better as it goes along. It sounds like a gun shot every time some hits the mat, which remains weird the whole way. There’s also almost no one here, though the acoustics are really good at making it seem decent. (It’s too bad they didn’t draw at all, because it seems like a good place for lucha.) This is clipped, more than the other FULL match to the point where it’s distracting. There are problems with this match outside the of the production – the tecnicos make their comeback, and then the rudos just do more moves – but there’s enough enjoyable stuff to make it thru good. Saru has a memorable wacky gimmick, but he also seems uncomfortable during sequences, hesitating enough to throw off the timing of spots. Fulgors and Alfa/Omega worked really well together, with the Fulgors tag team offense coming off well and all the dives looking great.
