Cibernetico & Chessman to Elite?, Cara Lucha, AAA announcement

As a part of my system, I always do the lineups last. I like to leave you with what to look for next. I’m not going to do that today. Here’s what lineup CMLL has listed for next week.

Elite Lucha Libre (SUN) 11/15/2015 Arena México
1) Fantasy & Stukita vs Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Olímpico
2) Emperador Azteca & Metaleón vs Cancerbero & Raziel
3) Silueta & Syuri © vs Dalys & Zeuxis [REINA TAG]
first defense
4) Ángel de Oro & Golden Magic vs Pegasso & Rey Cometa
5) Máximo Sexy & Valiente vs Bestia 666 & Mr. Águila
6) Carístico, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. vs ?, Chessman, Cibernético

EDIT: The lineup was removed from CMLL’s website about a half hour it was posted. Alfredo took a screen shot here.

AAA’s Hell Brothers (plus a mystery partner who may or may not be Averno) are listed as headlining Arena Mexico next week. Could this be Chessman & Cibernetico jumping from AAA? Could this be some sort of bizarre agreement between CMLL, AAA and All Elite despite AAA never wanting to work with Caristico again as recently as a month ago? Could this just mean Elite has a crazy amount amount of money to throw at people? Yes to all! It’s late, it’s Sunday, no one’s going to react to this right away, but this is obviously a huge deal with big ramifications (and small ones – those guys are supposed to main event the Juarez TV taping that night) to lucha libre. I have absolutely no idea what to make of it.

Cards are subject to change – Maximo Sexy is on this card because he backed out of jumps to AAA before. I’m not sure AAA would actually mind losing those two from an in-ring perspective. Both guys seemed to not fit with the match style AAA wants to do going forward, but it’s more an embarrassment of more people jumping off the ship (to the point where you have to start to be a little concerned about the ship taking on water or something.) This match isn’t probably going to be good for Elite either, but it’s a crazy main event people are going to go see just to see if it actually happens.

Absolutely everyone is going to believe that’s Averno – but if was Averno, why not just list him? And can we really believe Caristicio now when he say he didn’t try to get people to jump with him when AAA guys are following him to his promotion?

Rest of the card seems OK.

The rest of the news, as I had it before that card got posted.

Cara Lucha (SAT) 11/07/2015 Arena San Juan Pantitlan, Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, Estado de México [@TKD_117, +LuchaTV, Black Terry Jr., Estrellas del Ring, KronoSports,The Gladiatores]
1) Estrella De Oro & Zonik b Vengador & Yin Sang
One of the better matches on the show.
2) Centvrión, Fly Warrior, Látigo b Leo, Mike, Rafy
It was supposed to be Teelo, but (a new) Leo replaced him. Also, Mike didn’t have his shell for much of the match. Good match, money thrown in.
3) Aramis, Fly Star, Toxin b Magnífico I, Magnífico II, Templario
Good match.
4) Drastik Boy, Emperador Azteca, Sensei b Andy Boy, Danger, Guerrero Mixtico
good match
5) Tiger b Golden Magic
Tiger replaced Angel de Oro and won with with two Canadian Destroyers. Fans were anti-Golden Magic, still upset about the Castillo del Terror finish. Tiger asked for a title shot (IWRG Juniors), which Golden Magic ignored.
6) Carístico b Ángel de Oro, Cavernario, Hechicero Caristico vs Hechicero vs Cavernario vs Angel de Oro 07-11-15 (posted by tvluchadelpasado)
Angel de Oro replaced Flamita (working with AAA.) Caristico beat Oro with La Mistica. There were post matches challenges for a a Caristico/Angel de Oro vs Barbaro/Hechicero match, and the rudos took the tecnico’s masks.

Show sounds like it was pretty fun. Black Terry Jr. has highlights of the main event already above. Don’t know why they’re changing Leo’s identity. I feel like I want to blame the podcast.

CMLL (SAT) 11/07/2015 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Leono b Apocalipsis
2) Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Violencia
3) Okumura b Súper Halcón Jr.
4) Sangre Azteca b Hombre Bala Jr.
5) Princesa Sugehit & Silueta b Amapola & Tiffany
6) Super Porky b Kráneo
7) Dragon Lee, La Máscara, Valiente b Ephesto, Morphosis, Ripper

Usual note about nothing happening on these shows.

ELITE Lucha Libre (SUN) 11/08/2015 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Dinamic Black & Metaleón b Cancerbero & Raziel
moved to the opener.
2) Amapola, Dalys, Zeuxis b Estrellita, Silueta, Syuri
Dalys & Zeuxis challenged for the REINA tag team titles held by Silueta and Syuri.
3) Ángel de Oro & Golden Magic b Gran Guerrero & Kamaitachi
Tecnicos won despite Golden Magic being hurt on a dive.
4) Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., The Panther b Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II
Panthers took 1/3, Blue Panther submitting Negro Navarro in the third.
5) Bestia 666, Damián 666, Halloween DQ Máximo Sexy, Valiente, Volador Jr.
Damian faked a foul from Maximo to draw a DQ. Maximo challenged everyone to a hair match.
6) La Sombra & Último Guerrero b Atlantis & Carístico
Rudos took 1/3, with Sombra defeating Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero giving Caristico his first pinfall loss in Arena Mexico.

Attendance looks as terrible as that main event booking decision. I don’t know why you possibly have Ultimo Guerrero beat Caristico.  Even if they’re running the rematch or a singles match next week, they really didn’t need to beat Caristico to do that, they didn’t need to beat him clean and Ultimo Guerrero is the last guy who should beat him. Otherwise, great move! This is the same sort of dumb that seems to be involved in all Ultimo Guerrero matches since he lost his mask.

(To a less extent – but still the same overall problem – having Blue Panther beat Negro Navarro was equally short sided. The draw of these shows is seeing CMLL against big outside names. If the outsider are losing already, then they’re not that big of a deal and the matchups aren’t that special. Elite really needed the Navarros to win that match.)

Elite looks doomed anyway. They evidently opened the upper level so they expected a big crowd, but the floor – not the entire building, just the floor – looks less than half full. Promoting shows regularly is a lot tougher than coming back once every couple months, and there wasn’t near the level of promotion for this show as there was when these were special events. You’d have to follow things closely to know this was a CMLL show – it’s up on CMLL’s site as if it was a normal show – except it got less attention than those because CMLL didn’t start to acknowledge it until Saturday. EDIT: Maybe adding AAA luchadors would fix things? Just a thought I organically added here.

It can’t just be the Elite promoting, though. Caristico’s appearance doesn’t seem to have drawn anything special to Cara Lucha either. Caristico seems like a discharged battery at the moment. Maybe he can charged back up, but just throwing him in matches won’t be enough.

I was right about the tag title match! I just had the wrong show. I feel largely better about the whole thing.

decadas80s90s2000s was already putting up matches from the show as I was writing from this. He’s in the upper level, so they must’ve opened it up expecting to sell a lot of tickets.

Guadalajara did live results for a while but then stopped before the main event. Maybe later. Metalik, who hadn’t appeared on a show in two years, was suddenly in the semimain. Fuerza Guerrera didn’t show. That sort of show.

+LuchaTV has lots and lots of interviews from Friday’s Arena Mexico show, but my favorite is Rush asking “Who is Diamante Azul?” Other highlights include Ultimo Guerrero saying Caristico shouldn’t have left CMLL and Sombra saying Caristico was dead and buried in all those other companies. You get the feeling that the press was invited to Friday night’s Arena Mexico show so the luchadors could hype Sunday’s All Elite. The luchadors did not do their best on that.

Speaking of weird builds to the future and Sombra, there’s something strange going on with him and the tag league. Back in September, Sombra said he was heading to Japan in November for the tag league. Naito has been teasing a mystery partner for the tag league, which surely was going to be Sombra; I would’ve assumed that even if Sombra wasn’t said to be heading to Japan. On NJPW’s PPV this weekend, Naito said it was going to be Evil (Takaai Watanabe.) Weird!

NJPW will have a press conference to announce the teams in that tournament just after I post this. If Sombra’s isn’t on in that tournament and isn’t going to Japan, then plans have changed and a lot of red flags are waving for me. (There’s a slight chance NJPW might also announce the FantasticaMania roster at that press conference; this is usually the timing but nothing’s been said.)

Dorian Roldan will appear on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio tomorrow afternoon. These kind of appearances are usually built around an announcement – the last time Dorian did these interviews was to hype TripleMania – and they’re hinting at some big news about AAA. I had multiple pargraphs about this being Guerra de Titanes on US PPV and the chances of it doing well. It was some good stuff. Now, with Chessman & Cibernetico showing up on a Elite card, maybe it’s some much bigger deal. AAA’s long wanted to do a CMLL versus AAA feud. That main event looks like a CMLL versus AAA feud. It’s be utterly bizarre for AAA to send guys main eventing their show (their first major show in a city in years) to some other show. I don’t know what’s going on, but this interview should be fun.

Mistico (II) got voted off his reality show. Generally I’d say no one cares, but at this moment no really cares. Sorry Mistico.

DTU is teasing Blue PantherDragon Rojo, Misterioso and Stuka for it’s anniversary show. Those are some weird picks for a DTU show, unless they’re taking DTU to Torreon or something. (They’re not.)

LuchaWorld has a recap of Friday night’s CMLL show and KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

Lucha Memes (SUN) 11/22/2015 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Alas de Acero, Aramis, Iron Kid vs Leviatham, Sádico, Yakuza
2) Demasiado vs Onita Santana
3) Keira vs Aero Boy
4) Zumbido vs Shocker
5) Black Terry vs Virus
6) Caifan vs Hechicero
7) Pagano vs Último Guerrero

Ultimo Guerrero versus Pagano is an amazing freak show of a match. Some of the other matches will just be good matches.

  1. Elite is Liga Elite/All Elite/Premier Liga/Proes Entertainment, a company that’s been promoting shows at CMLL events for over a year. I’m not sure who owns it or where the money comes from.
