Random foreigner in Naucalpan is always interesting. Make sure to keep your phone in your pocket when you’re on the microbus.

Ultimo Guerrero’s next scheduled match was today in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara – but that main event has been canceled for unspecified reasons. (That means Real Fuerza Aerea versus Famila de Tijuana is the main event. They’ll add a locals match. It’s very strange.) UG’s new next scheduled match is Friday in Arena Mexico, but maybe we’ll find out differently when that preview comes out.

AAA has it’s first of weekly Thursday shows today, also in Guadalajara. Doesn’t seem like a coincidence that there are opposing shows in the same city today. The first Mexican Madness show has La Parka & Fenix vs Cibernetico & Pentagon Jr. in the main event, with an Angelico, Australian Suicide, Jack Evans versus Daga, Joe Lider and Taurus semimain.

DTU has a show back at Arena Aficion tonight. Violento Jack defends their main championship against Ciclope. This is Ciclope’s home building and they’re setting it up as his last chance at the title. It’ll be in a barbed wire match. Flamita returns to Mexico, teaming with Freelance and Rocky Lobo versus Drastik Boy, Mike Segura and nerd Tony. Where Flamita is working the rest of the week remains an open question.

Pro Wrestling Sheet mentioned Prince Puma wants to talk this season, just to show that he actually can. Puma was mute for season 1, because of the problem of a guy billed as a Hispanic man from Boyle heights actually being a non-Hispanic man from Kentucky. Lucha Underground was throwing a lampshade on Puma’s lack of speaking by the end of the season and it’s something it seems like they’d have to address soon or latter. They could dub over a voice (as they appear to be doing with Son of Havoc), but that doesn’t quite fit with Puma wanting to talk for himself.

The article mentions Puma is not going anywhere because he’s signed for three seasons. Given the talk about LU possibly filming a season 3 this summer, that would seem to free him to go somewhere down the line. (It also depends on what they call those summer episodes; if they take just a couple months off between episodes, is that just an intermission between episodes?) WWE was said to go after Ricochet in between seasons but were denied by his contract. They figure to go even harder against him if Ricochet is a free agent, others may join them, and LU will have to compete. The recent Young Bucks contract saga got a lot of (deserved) attention, but I think a free agent Ricochet might be in even higher demand. It’s going to be pretty great for Ricochet if everything goes well for him the next two seasons, no matter where he ends up.

That paragraph makes it sound like maybe too big of a deal. Prince Puma eventually leaving the LU would seem like a big blow, but we don’t know where he’ll fit in some two seasons from now. More importantly, if LU is unable to keep a guy like Prince Puma two seasons now, it’s probably an indication they haven’t grown as much as they needed to by that point and there are bigger issues going on. Either LU grows and they can afford to fight to keep a Prince Puma, or they don’t/can’t and it doesn’t really matter who they keep.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter mentions AAA’s hope for Alberto is for him simply to come to a show (Guerra de Titanes ideally) and do a promo to vacate the championship; they’re not even expecting him to wrestle at this point. It seems like it shouldn’t hard for him to even to send a promo in if he can’t come, but I kind of don’t really expect that to happen either.

The WON also notes Roderick Strong is booked elsewhere (Quebec City) the same night as the first Viva el Rey/ZZInc show. Those tickets are expensive and there’s no real telling who’s going to be there, though I think the fans probably aren’t really informed about what’s going on. AAA sent Mesias, Mr. 450 (who wasn’t even on the show a week ago) and a taped Rey Mysterio Jr. promo to Veracruz to hype the show.

Strong and other ROH wrestlers will be prohibited from working in AAA going forward as part of the ROH/NJPW deal. NJPW wanted ROH to stop sending guys to AAA and ROH wants to talk to CMLL but good luck on that. WON says CMLL doesn’t know the US scene; I think there are people in CMLL who do know the US scene, but they’re more in the ring than the office. (And there’s people on the periphery who could educate the office if they had any urgency to learning.) CMLL has seemed willing to let it’s wrestlers work for indy groups in California, Arizona and Texas on a regular basis this year; I’m sure they’d send people to ROH if they asked thru the right people, but they might not recognize it as anything more than that. ROH people coming to CMLL seems less likely – CMLL hasn’t brought in anyone who didn’t come themselves or get brought in by someone else (Ultimo Dragon & Shocker) in quite some time. Maybe if the Young Bucks train with Arkangel for a while?

CMLL didn’t know Naito was coming and didn’t care enough to change around their preplanned scheduled when he got to Mexico, so that’s why he just did the run-in (wander around?) and it went nowhere. Naito seems like he’s done a ton of tourist stuff instead.

Perro Aguayo Jr. was added to the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame. Villano III & Los Misioneros del Muerte rose highly in the ballot to join Cien Caras a few votes short of election. Caristico will be added to the ballot next year.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

IWRG posted a profile of Astro Rey, who of course is no longer known as Astro Rey. They don’t fix the profiles either.

Lucha Memes/Chairo has added Aramis, Iron Kid and Alas de Acero versus home building team Sadico, Terry 2000 and Yakuza to the 11/22 Arena Lopez Mateos show.

SuperLuchas back at Septiembre Negro.
