Hijo del Infierno keep the trios titles, IWRG says they don’t fix matches

CMLL (TUE) 11/03/2015 Arena México [CMLL, Yahoo! Deportes]
1) Robin & Sensei b Cholo & El Rebelde
2) Arkángel de la Muerte, Nitro, Okumura b Magnus, Oro Jr., Starman
Cancerbero & Raziel were replaced by Arkangel & Nitro, which prevented a Magnus/Raziel rematch.
3) Misterioso Jr., Pierroth, Sagrado b Blue Panther Jr., Pegasso, Tritón
4) Blue Panther b Vangellys [lightning]
5) Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto © b Ángel de Oro, Dragon Lee, Stuka Jr. [MEX TRIOS]
first defense
6) Marco Corleone, Rush, Valiente b Hechicero, Kráneo, Terrible
Hechicero replaced Shocker. Terrible appears to be stretchered out after the match, but it’s unclear how he was hurt.

Syuri is back in Mexico today. CMLL notes she and Silueta are REINA tag team champions; maybe they’ll set up a title match.

IWRG posted a press release saying the commission had ruled they couldn’t overturn the referee’s decision final in Castillo del Terror, and they in IWRG do not control the outcomes of the matches. In 2015! The response on Facebook to that is as negative as you’d expect.

Here are some times the Mexico State commission has decided the referee’s decision was not final in IWRG:

  • 01/23/2011: Angel Mortal beats Black Terry in a hair match with a hand on the ropes, commission restarts match, Angel Mortal wins anyway.
  • 06/07/2011: Golden Magic beats Ojo de Tigre after Fresero interferes, commission restarts match, Golden Magic wins anyway.
  • 12/01/2011: Eterno beats Bugambilia del Norte via Apolo Estrada foul, commission rules DQ win for Bugambilia (video)
  • 05/05/2013: Referee rules Dinamic Black & Carta Brava Jr. a draw, commission orders an extra fall
  • 06/20/2013: 911 hits Dinamic Black with a chair to retain the IWRG Rey de Reyes championship; commission calls it a DQ and gives Black the title. (video)
  • 07/28/2013: 911 fouls Dinamic Black to win the WWS Welterweight Championship, commission calls it a DQ and gives Black the win (video)
  • 11/02/2014: Cien Caras Jr. defeats Hijo de Dos Caras for the IWRG Heavyweight championship via Mascara 2000 Jr. foul; commission overturns and gives Dos Caras the win. (video)

They didn’t overturn the finish because Golpeador was supposed to lose, because IWRG does control the outcomes, because all lucha libre has determined outcomes and is not actually a legitimate fight between people. I can’t believe I’m compelled to write this paragraph.

Fancam video of AAA’s TV reveals it was Joaquin Roldan who (at least in storyline) is responsible for bringing back Dr. Wagner to AAA. Wagner turned on Rey at the end of the match. Previous occasions where Joaquin did something and immediately looked like a fool:

  • Joaquin brought back Vampiro, Vampiro immediately turned on him. This didn’t go anywhere, though Vampiro did apologize next time him came back.
  • Joaquin forgave Dorian Roldan at TripleMaina XX and let him out of a hair cut stipulation. Dorian and the rudos immediately turned on Joaquin and took his hair.
  • At Verano de Escandalo 2014, Joaquin Roldan removed biased referee Hijo del Tirantes and replaced him with debuting referee Rafael el Maya. Maya immediately turned rudo to give Texano the title.

Perhaps more concerning is for all the false advertising of Alberto being there (as well as Rey and everyone else), the show looks way short of being sold out. There was a note at the ticket window that Alberto wasn’t going to be there.

Speaking of false advertisements, the Viva el Rey/ZZInc shows seem like they’re probably not going to be too close to what’s on the lineup. The show this weekend has Fireball listed the same time he’s in Cara Lucha, and Pentagon when he’s also billed to be in Toronto. The shows on the 11/21 & 11/22 run against Lucha Underground tapings, which should take out a big chunk of people advertised for those shows. The shows the weekend after that include Fenix & Pentagon, who are booked in the US that weekend. (I haven’t really looked into the foreign wrestlers schedule, but they’re usually good about making it clear when they’re listed for some place they’re not actually working.  All promotion is local, so maybe they’ll have more information about what’s going on with these shows at the ticket offices and things will probably go on. This seems like typical AAA disorganization and cynicism; they’re clearly unconcerned with falsely advertising people after this past week.

Chris DeJoseph was a guest on the Indy Mayhem Show; it’s about an hour and it’s a good discussion about Lucha Underground. You’re not going to get him giving away much about season 2, but there’s a lot about season 1. I liked this quote about what DeJoseph expected the reaction to be, particularly with the storylines

I honestly never expected any positive reviews at all. Usually the internet wrestling community is a generally negative world and there’s lots of negative reviews, but I can see why because I’ve seen the same things that get negative reviews and I hate them too. We just try to do something different and strive to be different, it makes it easier to buy into this world. It takes place in the world – it doesn’t take place in arena in Milwaukee, it’s just in this, you know, it exists in it’s in comic book universe. We can now almost – we killed a guy! We killed a guy!

DeJospeh went on to say they felt they could safely do anything once the fanbase didn’t freak out over the murder. This caused me to think of how the equivalent of a Lucha Underground in Milwaukee would go. Probably a lot of drinking. DeJoseph also briefly mentions pitching an Undertaker themed studio show to WWE, and he and Chris Roach first coming up with the Aztec Warfare concept as part of a pitch to TNA to take over the writing job there. TNA turned them down. Thank you TNA for being TNA.

The identity of Matanza came up during the show, and DeJoseph revealed plans changed him with him. The original plans had Matanza being revealed in episode 9. That changed when Drago, Fenix and Pentagon got stopped at the border, they had to rewrite all the scripts for the first few episodes, and the Matanza reveal got pushed off. After all a while, they decided that it would just be cooler to keep the mystery going. They definitely had a plan for who Matanza was going to be, but changed their mind after they decided to keep him in the cage for longer.

Boby Z says he’s not quite sure why his name is Boby Z, but he think it has to do with CMLL trademarking the name. CMLL just told him he was changing his name one day.

RobViper has highlights of 05/19/2015.

Segunda Caida reviews Misterioso, Solar, Super Calo vs Angel Azteca, Volador and Winners.

Angel de Oro versus Golden Magic is Cara Lucha’s bonus match for this Saturday’s show. Seriously curious as to the reaction to Golden Magic.

Shocker versus the weirdly thin Zumbido has been added to the 11/22 Lucha Memes/Chairo show. They were partners in the Guapos during Shocker’s (forgettable) AAA stint.

RCH added Lady Shani, Super Fly, Mamba vs Goya Kong, Drago, Estrella Divina to theri 12/03 show.

At a press conference for his FULL/MDA 11/15 show in Monterrey, Tinieblas Jr. said CMLL was responsible for Caristico being taken off the card. That’s odd that he’d say CMLL and not Elite. El Dandy was there to explain he doesn’t like Tinieblas but he was professional and would work the show.

Colibiri of Pachuca lost his mask on Sunday. He’s Aristeo Hipolito Matias, 44, wrestling from 25 years.

Puebla will have a lucha libre expo on November 21st and 22nd. There will be four shows over the weekend. Last year’s expo drew 2,500 people.

Eric Mutter tries to preview Ultima Lucha II right now.

Lineups

ELITE Lucha Libre (SUN) 11/08/2015 Arena México
1) Estrellita, Silueta, Syuri vs Amapola, Dalys, Zeuxis
2) Dinamic Black & Metaleón vs Cancerbero & Raziel
3) Ángel de Oro & Golden Magic vs Gran Guerrero & Kamaitachi
4) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., The Panther
5) Máximo Sexy, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Bestia 666, Damián 666, Halloween
6) Atlantis & Carístico vs La Sombra & Último Guerrero

Elite doesn’t quite seem to be working efficiently – not getting a lineup out for Sunday until early Wednesday morning is not ideal. Especially since they had an extra week break to do it. Tickets for this show are also not on Ticketmaster – nothing for Arena Mexico is past this Friday’s show.

Card is actually good. Oro & Magic are enemies one day, friends the next. Traumas/Panthers could be interesting and main event should be a thing.

CMLL (TUE) 11/10/2015 Arena México
1) Bengala & Leono vs Apocalipsis & Camorra
2) Flyer, Magnus, Sensei vs Canelo Casas, Espanto Jr., Inquisidor
3) Star Jr. vs Skándalo [lightning]
4) Hombre Bala Jr., Starman, Súper Halcón Jr. vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
5) Blue Panther, Rey Cometa, The Panther vs Misterioso Jr., Pierroth, Sagrado
6) Marco Corleone, Stuka Jr., Super Porky vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Shocker

I’m okay missing this show.

CMLL (TUE) 11/10/2015 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Yaqui & Nube Roja vs El Chakal & Mr. Apolo
2) Oro Jr., Soberano Jr., Stigma vs Espanto Negro, Metálico, Sangre Azteca
3) Ángel de Oro, Diamante Azul, Máximo Sexy vs Kráneo, Olímpico, Ripper
4) Rey Bucanero © vs La Máscara [NWA LH]
second defense
5) Atlantis, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

The NWA Light Heavyweight championship is the most obscure championship at the moment; 95% people probably don’t know Rey is champion, even though he was just in the Universal tournament. It’s very off to the side.

Guessing Espanto Negro is Espanto Jr. also getting a new name.
