Cavernario takes out the wrong guy!

Recapped: 10/14/2015

What happened: Cavernario kept the welterweight championship over Triton. Negro Casas fouled Mistico in the main event, which doesn’t seem to have gone anywhere.

What was good: The Triton/Cavernario match is either the best great match or the least excellent match of the year. The rest of the show was Tuesday filler.

Where can I watch it: It’s on TKD’s YouTube channel.

Winner: Hijos del Infierno (2-1)
Match Time: 14:45
Review: [ok] nothing special match in front of a very easy crowd. Tecnicos got to show off their moves and then finishes. Blue Panther’s ability to have different feeling matches is overpowered by La Mascara’s powers to have the same exact match every time. This match was a good case for getting rid of the capitan’s rules – casual crowd was thrilled when Blue Panther won and then out of it for the next two finishes.

Titan moonsault
farmer’s roll exhausts both guys

Review: [ok] It’s really hard to care about TGR matches. It’s really hard to care about month old TGR matches. It’s really hard to care about month old TGR matches with Super Porky. This was one of those. Again, the loud crowd made this more interesting than it would’ve been otherwise. This is exactly the kind of match that works even better in front of this sort of crowd. It’s not one that works as well for peope who watch all the TV.

Super Porky being so slow throws off the timing

Match 3: Cavernario © vs Tritón for the Mexican National Welterweight Championship

  2. Triton 450 splash (4:57)
  3. Barbaro Cavernario caverneria (14:50)

Winner: Barbaro Cavernario
Match Time: 24:01
Notes: Seconds are Kamaitachi and Titan. Titan gets taken out by a Cavernario dive in the third fall by accident, and everyone lives.
Review: [great] really strong title match. Could see people rating this higher and would’ve put it there if they pulled off big headscissors near the end (which also woudl’ve been spot of the year. It’s a very high end CMLL title match any way. Triton otherwise had a flawless match in his first really big singles match opportunity and Cavernario was superb as always. They had a stronga rude/tecnico dynamic than normal for a title match, but it worked for this audience. (Likewise, getting out of the mat wrestling quick was a smart move.) Both guys pulled out their usual offense but felt like they went beyond it for the occasion, using spots they never or rarely did. Cavernario did the splash to the floor and they found a way to explain why the match didn’t just end there (too close to the ropes on the pin. Triton had some really impressive moves in this match. Cavernario getting Titan by accident with his springboard plancha to the floor was funny.

double springboard moonsault
walk up the ropes tornillo
rope walk huracanrana
ringpost tope
of course he’s doing this
you can’t escape the caveman
Cavernario is sure he’s going over
almost

    • Negro Casas reverse DDT Valiente (3:32)
  2. Sky Team
    • La Mistica on Mr. Niebla (2:23)
  3. Sky Team
    • Negro Casas [headbutt foul on Volador Jr.] (3:53)

Winner: Sky Team (2-1)
Match Time: 9:48
Notes: finish saw Euforia & Niebla hold up Volador and Negro Casas headbutt him low.
Review: [ok] Simple Sky Team match, with two short falls and the tecnicos all getting in their offense in the third fall. They probably did more in front of this crowd than they would’ve on a normal show, but it didn’t amount to much with that finish. I’ve never seen quite that method to foul someone – it was completely random in the context of the match but it was also really impressive. Valiente really had problems in the third fall working with guys. It’s hard not to wonder if his apparent focus on winning the bodybuilding contest isn’t really taking down his wrestling. It doesn’t appear to be helping him, he’s in the same role he always is and they’re not even putting him in random singles matches now.

Euforia has had enough of Mistico headscissors.
I think Volador want to see hoe high he could toss Mistico
a unique foul
