CMLL Puebla: 2015-10-26

CMLL referee mishap of the night

Recapped: 10/26/2015

What happened: Sombra beat Shocker by using the ropes. Euforia challenged Thunder to a match next week.

What was good: Nothing. This was a very skippable show. Shocker/Sombra may appeal to some, but nothing was outstanding on this show.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s YouTube channel.

Batillon del Muerte knows how to make an entrance
ring around the announcer

Review: [ok] kind of an exhibition for the rudos, because these are very unflashy and uninteresting tecnicos. Black Tiger didn’t look so great with Rey Apocalipsis in the long first fall, Centella Roja knows how to do moves but is very slow at doing them, and Starman is Starman. Rey Apocalipsis looked great at times, but stumbled near the end. Toro Bill took a great fall to the floor. Hijo del Signo existed.

starts well, ends iffy
Toro Bill will just be leaving

Triton evades into a headscissors

Review: [ok] a messy match with not everyone working together smoothily; the rudo team was a mismatch and they might have been thrown off by Boby Z being thrown into the match. Pegasso had a rough day, as he seems to have a lot. Triton and Tiger looked good, but they didn’t get a lot to do.

I think he did this on purpose

Review: [ok] Very much a Super Porky match, with him stealing the show in the first fall. Angel de Oro and Guerrero Maya were in long enough to some of their own signature spots. It’s weird seeing Negro Casas and Brazo de Plata, who’ve wrestled roughly a million matches combined, visibly calling very basic spots. Felino, Hechicero, Negro Casas and Zacarias stooged heavily in this match and the crowd enjoyed it.

Zacarias can’t resist a cheap shot
Super Porky!
maybe not the best casita

Euforia spear
slightly below average sized swing

Review: [below average] not any good! Had little chance of being any good. Thunder versus Euforia is not a match anyone would really want to see, so it’s a match they’re doing next week. The first fall included Thunder seemingly hurting his head on a his own suplex, and then minutes of confusion over who was the captain. Ivan, who didn’t understand what was going on any better than most of the luchadors, whistled in the second fall after all of a 10 second break. (Maybe he just wanted to move along the match at all.)They seemed more professional the rest of the way, or at least as professional as you’re going to look with Thunder involved and being terrible. Next week’s match could be an all timer.

Match 5: La Sombra vs Shocker

Shocker tope

Review: [ok] exactly what it figured to be, what we’ve seen in the tag team titles matches minus Negro Casas. It seemed like it was going to be even less than expectations early, but Sombra picked up as the match went on. This was a toned down performance to work around Shocker’s limitations. You could think of it as a match where Sombra gets practice putting together something interesting when he can’t do all of his flips, but watching practice isn’t that interesting. Neither guy really played rudo or tecnico all that much. They tried to up the ante with big spots late, and the superplex looked especially painful. Sombra needs the ropes to beat Shocker seems absurd, but Sombra’s following celebration was enjoyably absurd.

Sombra wins!
