Monday’s Puebla show started with the ring announcer promoting the items for yesterday’s CMLL Informa, including “todos los detailes” for the Dia de Muertos shows. Apparently, all the details meant the costuming perpetration and not any of the matches. Nothing was announced, not even that it’s on iPPV. Ultimo Guerrero did appear as scheduled, inventing a lawsuit against Thunder and Tony Salazar (as head of security) that’ll never be mentioned by anyone else. Alfredo has a recap of what was talked about. They also interviewed Stukita, Mercurio, Zeuxis, Hechicero and Aguila Solitaria.
Besides not mentioning the Dia de Muertos, Informa did not mention Cuatrero and Sanson were introduced to the press as new members of CMLL. Those are the two (actual) sons of Cien Caras who regularly wrestle in Arena Lagos in Aguascalientes and have appeared in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara occasionally. They were certain to be coming to CMLL at some point, because of their family and their size, and hopefully will be good. They both appeared as part of the tribute to Cien Caras as the 2014 Homenaje a Dos Leyendas. Sanson is Cien Caras’ original name, Cuatrero means “rustler” (in the horse sense.) This Sanson is 19, and his brother Cuatrero is 21, and they’ve both been wrestling since September 2010. They started out training under Universo 2000 and have been training with Ultimo Guerrero and Virus in CMLL. There’s no official start date, just that they’ll be turning up soon.
CMLL Informa also didn’t mention the annual mass for Oro, which will be held this Saturday at Arena Coliseo (at 5:30, so a couple hours before the Retro show.)
This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter mentions Alberto el Patron has told people he’s taking all of December off to spend time with his family. That sounds like a great parental move, but it also has led people to speculate he’s not coming back to Lucha Underground (which is otherwise noted as more likely not) and maybe might not be taking bookings as part of a move back to WWE. (Again, there’s no mention of an AAA contract.) The WWE stuff is speculation plus talk of his name coming up within WWE, but that might WWE just coming up with ideas to entice him to come back. If Alberto is not working in December and Alberto is on Guerra de Titanes, then Guerra de Titanes is late November this year (or Alberto’s making one exception.)
There’s no update on the CadenaTres situation. The network hasn’t commented on the stories of it’s imminent closure. The frequency won’t be going dark. It’s being handed over to an all news channel owned by the same people (which is already airing, but with lesser availability until now.) The bigger idea is that CadenaTres’ parent company won a contract to put in new TV towers across the country to launch themselves a national network when everything is ready – maybe in January or March or April – with a new name and look. If the lucha show was profitable enough and they wanted to, they could definitely move it over to news channel for now or bringing it back when they relaunch. My thinking is if they wanted to keep the same programming, they wouldn’t be letting everyone go, they’d just be keeping them all around for a few more months and relaunching then. The strange thing is you can find recent interviews with the people who run the parent company stating that CadenaTres was going to be that national network (and challenging TV Azteca and Televisa stations.)
This is now less an issue with CMLL apparently no long on CadenaTres, but Daylight Savings Time starts in Mexico (and much of the world) on Sunday, and not in the US until the week after. I’ll go over this again on the TV preview post, but this means the Dia de Muertos show will not start until 10:30 pm Eastern Time on 10/30. Maybe take a siesta beforehand? This appears to be a live only show too. (Likewise, next week’s Puebla show will not start until 11pm ET.)
+LuchaTV has highlights of Rush versus Herodes Jr. in Arena Chilpanicngo. Herodes Jr. doesn’t seem to be working a completely full schedule, but he’s kept pretty busy since leaving CMLL and is getting matches (like this one) he wouldn’t have if he was still a segunda/tercera guy in CMLL.

Hijo de Rey Misterio is the headliner on a couple of shows in the Chicago area this weekend, including a show on Sunday about 10 minutes away from me. I guess I could go. I still haven’t decided if I’m going to CHIKARA on Friday, Sunday is too far away to make decisions.
For a CadenaTres relaunch… I dunno… a new network would have to cover its bases, be that telenovelas, and sports, they only have Gallos Blancos soccer team in their programming, so keeping Lucha and boxing would make sense.
They say they want to go for the Mexican Under30 demo… guess Lucha Underground is not going there (Meltzy said they have like a 50yo demo)… I think younger audiences would want more extreme stuff… DTU? I think CMLL can still have their show if they want, but new people in cadena3 management might make CMLL simply go their “we don’t need them” ways.
The tv situation has been mentioned elsewhere, it seems many tv guys are going to fight hard for soccer teams rights… in the long run, they might find out that paying big buck for little seen teams is not a good idea… maybe lucha will be a hot commodity soon… and again, someone has to reinvent lucha tv for a “under30” demo…
