CMLL on CadenaTres: 2015-09-05

Recapped: 09/06/2015

What happened that mattered? Shockercito got a win over Demus via foul as they continue to feud. This somehow set up a Mercurio/Astral title match. Maximo defeated Gran Guerrero, which appeared to end their feud without ever having a singles match. The rudos accidentally got themselves DQed in the first fall when Espanto Jr. did something dumb (which might have been covering for a Molotov injury.)

What was good? There’s another good minis match, and a nice women’s trios match.

How can I watch? It’s on my YouTube channel.

Match 1: Molotov & Sensei vs Camorra & Espanto Jr.

professional
  • tecnicos
    • Sensei octopus Espanto Jr. (6:16)
    • Molotov cradle Camorra (6:41)
  • tecnicos
    • DQ Espanto [throwing Sensei over the top] (3:13)

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:44
Notes: Espanto gave Sensei a testicular claw while pushing him over the top rope – apparently, that counts as an over the top rope DQ for Bestia Negra.

Review: [bad] match clearly wasn’t supposed to end that way, but it was for the best. Molotov looked bad, seemed to have trouble jumping at times and was generally moving slow. He was having some sort of trouble and bailed out of the ring quick in the second fall. Sensei & Espanto had a testy exchange to start and then one that seemed off in the second fall. I’d never seen someone pushed someone over the top like that in CMLL, and I guess it being a DQ is why. No idea why they bothered to air this.

Match 2: Astral, Eléctrico, Shockercito vs Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pierrothito

  • tecnicos
    • DQ rudos excessive violence (2:53)
  • tecnicos
    • Electrico straight jacket cavernaria Mercurio (6:43)
    • Pierrothito rolling crucifix cradle Electrico (7:18)
    • Shockercito foul Demius (8:16)

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:09
Notes: The referee stopped the first fall when the rudos wouldn’t stop holding down Shockercito and biting him. Shockercito snuck in a foul in the second fall when the referee was busy with Mercurio.

Review: [good] last few minutes were a strong finish to what had been just an OK match at that point. The beatdown felt stretched out and the Pierrothito/Electrico sequence a couple minutes before the end fell apart, but the ending sequence was pretty good, especially the dives. That first fall DQ seemed like it was purposefully drawn, if not planned out in advance. Astral looks like he’s been over inflated. It’s not tremendously hurting his work, but Electrico is easily the better one of the two.

  • tecnicas
    • Estrellita back bridge cradle Amapola (5:10)

Winner: tecnicas (2-1)
Match Time: 14:47
Notes: An interview with Dark Angel about her farewell precedes the interview. She’s evasive when asked if she’s going to the US.

Review: [good] high effort match for a Tuesday, as it seems like they’re trying to send Dark Angel off with as good matches as possible. (That would change.) The first fall stuck out as having a lot more going on than usual, and Dark Angel is doing springboard dropkicks and topes, a bit of out of the ordinary for her. This was more about the tecnicas offense but the rudas kept up and it was a fun match without major issues.

    • Titan rope flip moonsault Sangre Azteca (5:42)

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:46
Notes: Referee is Bestia Negra

Review: [ok] another match where the last couple minutes were the best part, but the time before wasn’t much. Sangre Azteca looked lesser than usual, with his corner dropkick coming up noticably well short of Blue Panther and generally leaving a lot of light on his other attacks, especially with Panther. Dragon Rojo brought his double stomp finish off the shelf, maybe should’ve left it there. It looked like he nailed Triton in the face with a kick too. It was cool to see Triton & Titan do a little bit of a team, but a little is all they got.

Match 5: Máximo, Mistico, Rush vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja
Arena México, 09/01/2015
Video: thecubsfan

  • Guerreros
    • Niebla Roja flapjack kick Mistico (2:04)
  • tecnicos
    • Rush overhead belly to belly suplex Niebla Roja (2:14)
    • Mistico springboard torito Euforia (2:16)
  • tecnicos
    • Maximo kiss cradle Gran Guerrero (3:15)

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 7:35
Notes: Referee is Tirantes. Guerreros go right after the tecnicos – mostly Maximo – to start the match. Rush caring enough to participate turns around the match in the second fall. Gran Guerrero and Maximo continue to fight, with Gran Guerrero evading Maximo’s springboard butt bump in the second fall. Gran Guerrero ran from Maximo in the third fall, then fought him near the end but took the kiss for the loss. Rush closes a show while holding a small boy, who he claims will be his new junior and yells at everyone.

Review: [ok] short main event mostly about Gran Guerrero/Maximo. Maximo won clean, so Gran Guerrero will probably be getting a title shot soon. Rush had a great belly to belly suplex on Niebla Roja into the corner obscured by the giant C3 graphics both times they showed it. Mistico’s headscissors to the floor on Euforia looked good, and he really didn’t get to do much more than that.
