CMLL on Claro Sports: 2015-08-21

Sky Team win

Recapped: 08/21/2015-09/03/0215

What happened? Boby Zavala won the En Busca de un Idolo (and was immediately vanished.) Sombra humiliated Atlantis. Demus and Shockercito continued their kinda-feud. I forgot to write most of this recap for some time.

What was good? Main event was better as an angle than a match. I rated Zavala & Maya as good but not sure if that’ll hold up. The best match was probably the semifinal, but I didn’t write down any notes for it.

Where can I watch? Most of it aired on Claro Sports, but I wasn’t able to record it. (Lesson: always capture full screen when possible.) The En Busca de un Idolo match is still on CMLL’s YouTube channel. The last two matches air on Lucha Azteca, and are in the September Week 1 playlist

Match 1: Robin & Sensei vs El Rebelde & Metálico
Arena México, 08/21/2015

Did not air due to transmission presents.

Match 2: Shockercito, Stukita, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pequeño Violencia
Arena México, 08/21/2015

  1. tecnicos
    • Stukita splash Pequeno Violencia
    • Ultimo Dragoncito huracanrana Merucrio
  2. rudos
    • Pequeno Violencia nudo lagunero Ultimo Dragoncito
    • Mercurio superkick Stukita
  3. tecnicos
    • Shockercito reinera Demus 3:16

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: not timed due to recording issues

Review: [ok] not a patch on last week’s match; Stukita got a cool mask but less to do, and Pequeno Violencia was less interested in particpating in a wrestling match this time around. The rudo section was not as good as last week and the tecnicos didn’t dive into the crowd, it happens. Shockercito/Demus was featured, but Shockercito won clean so I guess it’s over. (Freuqent video problems for me hurt this match; it might have been.)

Match 3: Fuego, Rey Cometa, Titán vs Misterioso Jr., Pierroth, Sagrado
Arena México, 08/21/2015

  1. Comando Boricua
    • Pierroth senton Rey Cometa
    • three man powerbomb on Fuego
  2. tecnicos
    • Rey Cometa small package Pierroth
  3. Comando Boricua
    • Pierroth Skandalo Driver Titan

Winner: Comando Boricua (2-1)
Match Time: not timed due to recording issues

Review: [ok] slightly better than the usual Comando Boricua match because the tecnicos and Sagrado were trying. Cometa finally broke out Brillo Cometa again, needed Sagrado saving him from dying. Sagrado took a nice collision into the barricade on Titan’s tope on the outside. The triple dive spot looked nice. Misterioso was invisible and Pierroth had a strange amount of spots built around him (but didn’t kill anyone, so OK)

Match 4: Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Boby Zavala in a En Busca de un Idolo match
Arena México, 08/21/2015

Winner: Boby Zavala
Match Time: 15:42

Review: [good] good but kind of disappointing. Bobby was messed up after his tope gone wrong, and caused a lot of errors in the second half of the match. He didn’t look impressive at all. He at least needed more offense before his cradle, and he needed his cradle to look better. Maya seemed like the better wrestler, both in the way the match was laid out (getting all the big moves late) and the execution of the match. The Gran Alternativa win the better blast off point for Zavala than this. He’ll have better nights.

random fan attacks UG and security does nothing!

Match 5: Dragon Lee, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Cavernario, Felino, Ultimo Guerrero
Arena México, 08/21/2015

  1. rudos
    • Cavernario assisted missile dropkick Dragon Lee (5:08)
    • Ultimo Guerrero inside cradle Volador Jr. (5:08)
  2. tecnicos
    • Volador backcracker Ultimo Guerrero (2:10)
  3. tecnicos
    • Mistico super huracarna Felino (4:53)
    • Volador super huracanana Barbaro Cavernario (4:58)

Winner: tecnicos
Match Time: 12:16
Notes: times from Azteca version

Review: [watched by not rated] it’s a month and some later and I’ve found I have no review for this match. I think it was good, just going thru the highlights, but I’m not going to put in a rating. It was a lot of Volador tossing Mistico around into big spots, with a crew catching him at the right itme.

Match 6: La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush vs Atlantis, Máximo, Valiente
Arena México, 08/21/2015

strong work by Tirantes
  1. Los Ingobernables
    • DQ Atlantis [mask pull Sombra] (4:25)
  2. Los Ingobernables
    • La Sombra foul kick Atlanits (5:52)

Winner: Los Ingobernables
Match Time: 10:17
Notes: Sombra ripped off Altantis’ mask post match and told him he’d win at Anniversary

Review: [good] better as an angle than a match, but a really good angle to build up the mask match. Both guys took the intensity level way up in a short time., It’s still too quick, but they’re doing the best they can with the restraints they have. Ingobernables were in total jerk mode and the finish played off that well. Sombra could use some practices on the Rey Escorpión like salida de banderas.
