CMLL Puebla: 2015-10-05

Black Tiger stuck in a vortex of violence

Recapped: 10/05/2015

What happened? Lestat challenged Molotov to a mask match and it’s actually happening next week. (That’s a four week build, nearly as long as Sombra/Atlantis.) Mephisto beat Volador in straight falls to set up a title match next week.

What was good? Not much. The all CMLL matches were rushed and mailed in. The Puebla guys had some bad moments or were obviously toning down their style. The tercera, with Dragon Lee & Kamaitachi, was the one good match on the show.

Where can I watch it? It’s up on CMLL’s YouTube channel.

Guerrero Especial thrilled

Review: [ok] started out really promising and fast, and lost steam (or purposefully slowed down in the third.) Metalico doing pinfalls and pulling people up at two wasn’t working quite as well as the other parts of the match. Locals were enthusiastic if not always sharp, and the tope con giro in and out at the same time was a nice highlight spot. Robin is wearing Brazo gear this week.

Match 2: Black Tiger, Rey Samuray, Soberano Jr. vs Espanto Jr., Rey Apocalipsis, Toro Bill Jr.
Arena Puebla, 10/05/2015

el mejor equipo
  1. rudos
    • Toro Bill backcracker Black Tiger (5:29)
    • Espanto Jr. Canadian Destroyer Soberano Jr. (6:12)
  2. tecnicos
    • Soberano top rope splash Espanto (5:55)
  3. tecnicos
    • Soberano tirabuzon Espanto Jr. (2:31)

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:38
Notes: Referee is Bestia Negra.

Review: [below average] nah, this one really fell apart. First fall was good Batillon del Muerte fun, but everyone got lost in the second fall (Espanto Jr. taking himself out ?) and Rey Samurai botching the big springboard in the third just took the rest of the match down. He tried to do the follow up careta breakup spot and couldn’t get anything on the dive, so it was kind of amazing the dive went as well as it did. Soberano kind of got screwed over by his partner’s issues, didn’t have a chance to get in his own big moves. Disappointing.

elegant armdrag
and here’s where the match fell apart

Match 3: Dragon Lee, Lestat, Stigma vs Kamaitachi, Molotov, Policeman
Arena Puebla, 10/05/2015

Dragon Lee is magic
  1. rudos
    • Molotov moonsault Lestat (7:36)
    • Policeman figure four Dragon Lee (7:49)
  2. tecnicos
    • Dragon Lee suplex sit down powerbomb Kamaitachi (2:51)
  3. tecnicos
    • Stigma powerbomb Policeman (4:13)
    • Molotov powerbomb Stigma (4:32)
    • Lestat senton con giro (5:43)

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 16:23
Notes: Lestat demanded a lightning match with Molotov next week. Molotov upped it to a mask match. Lestat escaped and Molotov beat him up and took his mask.

Review: [good] best match on the show because Dragon Lee and Kamaitachi are awesome. Molotov is definitely not, still hasn’t shown anything on the rude. I guess he gets another chance next week but it’s not looking good. Lestat is fine but he’s not nearly good enough to carry this on his own. No one takes Molotov seriously because he’s never gotten any wins; this generally doesn’t seem like a well thought out idea. The mask match next week seems rushed. I’m going to be very annoyed if Molotov wins.

Molotov catches the dive like a baseball bat to the head
Dragon Lee tope con giro

Match 4: Marco Corleone, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
Arena Puebla, 10/05/2015

  1. Hijos del Infierno
    • Mephisto Devil’s Wings Volador (2:52)
  2. Hijos del Infierno
    • Mephisto super Devil’s Wings Volador (5:03)

Winner: Hijos del Infierno (2-0)
Match Time: 7:55
Notes: Mephisto demanded a shot at Volador’s Welterweight championship and Volador accepted

all the dives

Review: [below average] mailed in effort by the Hijos del Infierno, who took about 90% of the match. This was such a nothing happening match that I was surprised it was two falls (thinking they were at least saving the tecnico run for later) and that Marco did his dive (because why bother in this match.) Mephisto & Volador might be good, but there’s nothing here that’d make you want to see it.

Match 5: La Máscara, La Sombra, Shocker vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero in a relevos increíbles match
Arena Puebla, 10/05/2015

Mr. Niebla hit hard
  1. team Sombra
    • Shocker el pulpo Ultimo Guerrero (1:25)
  2. team Atlantis
    • Pulpo Guerrero on La Mascara 13858-14131
    • Mr. Niebla top rope splash Shocker 14135
  3. team Atlantis
    • DQ La Sombra [foul Atlantis] (5:07)

Winner: team Atlantis
Match Time: 9:09
Notes: Sombra taunted Atlantis and unmasked him after the match

Review: [ok] generous score for a routine match, and one shorter than usual. Mr. Niebla didn’t appear drunk but he didn’t appear all that into the match, Shocker wasn’t good, and Sombra spent most of the match backpeddling. He’s an amusing rudo but it didn’t make for much of a match. As has been the pattern, this show has gotten worse as it goes along.

the end.
