CMLL Lucha Azteca: 2015-08-15

perfection

Recapped: 08/19/2015

What happened? Thunder is still not wrestling but appearing after the match to beat up Ultimo Guerrero.

What was good? Nothing stood out.

Where can I watch? This is all in the 2015 August Week 3 playlist.

Review: [OK] generic semifinal which could’ve been on any show and felt like it could’ve been on any show. They could’ve aired this match any time in the last two years and only need to update the shirts the rudos were wearing. The rudos aren’t really bringing anything new with Shocker involved, but everyone kept the match going.

rudos do a little better with Volador than Marco

Angel de Oro finished

Review: [OK on TV] The usual clipped to pieces middle match. This one featured a break a minute into the match and a second fall that was only 90 seconds because Luciferno couldn’t get his submission hold to work. This was better live because it had to be better live. Cometa getting the shock pin would’ve worked better if the pin didn’t get messed up. This was his first match back, doing mostly simple things (okay, only here does a moonsault to the floor count as simple).

  1. Team Escorpion
    • Kraneo top rope splash Euforia & Gran Guerrero (4:29)
  2. Team Escorpion
    • Rey Escorpion foul kick Ultimo Guerrero (4:50)

Winner: Team Escorpion (2-1)
Match Time: 9:19
Notes: Referee is Tirantes. Escorpion starts brawling with the Guerreros and the Invasors join in for lack of anything better to do. Thunder distracts Ultimo Guerrero and Tirantes, allowing Rey Escorpion to sneak in a foul. Thunder beats up Guerrero after the match.

Euforia and Gran Guerrero not really helping

Review: [ok] The Invasors as the lesser Revolucionarios. Ripper & Pólvora is a draw, and Kraneo is so much better than Dragon Rojo. The other parts of this match felt very familiar, and Rey Escorpion and Ultimo Guerrero didn’t bring the fight they had in other matches, but the Thunder angle actually came off well on TV. TV could really use a hot match; there’s a lot of bleh stuff the last two weeks. Rey Escorpion & Ripper had much more faith in Kraneo’s ability to leap a decent stretch of the ring than I would’ve, and they were right.
