CMLL on ClaroSports.com: 2015-09-25

flyin’ Guerreros

What was the important stuff? Volador beat Rush in straight falls, but ended up laid out by the entire Ingobernables. Thunder was not seen and everyone pretended like he didn’t exist, which was the best Thunder related development in a while. The Universal tournament will start next week.

What were the good matches? Nothing superb, but matches 2, 3, 4 were all pretty fun. Rush/Volador was not much and disappointing.

Where can I see this? You could’ve seen it on the live stream. I’m encoding the show and it should be in next week’s video post.

don’t even know what to call this

Review: [ok] mixed match; sometimes they were pulling out big spots as if this was there make up anniversary match, sometimes the match was kind of bland. The third fall and the finish didn’t come off as strong to me, but the first fall ended well and Raziel’s big move in the second fall looked good. This one will look better in the highlights.

Match 2: Fantasy, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico
Arena México, 09/25/2015

Mercurio’s cradle is very neccesary
  1. rudos
    • Mercurio bridge Fantasy (5:58)
    • Mercurio corner dropkick Ultimo Dragoncito (6:33)
  2. tecnicos
    • Fantasy Spanish Fly Pequeno Olimpico (4:17)
    • Ultimo Dragoncito casadora cradle Mercurio (4:28)
  3. rudos
    • Demus 3:16 valagueza Shockercito (4:32)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 15:33

Mercurio’s longest strut ever

Review: [good] not a standout match, but another very solid match with a little more excitement than the previous one. Demus and Shockercito are great against each other, and the finish looked as spectucular as the usual multiple headscissors spot. (Plus, the toss into the stage was surprsiing.) Dragoncito and Mercurio both had good matches, with Dragoncito’s dropkick to knock Olimpico off the apron looking painful. Mercurio’s in the right place for everything and his new look looks better. They seem to be going nowhere in particular with these, and it’d be great to finally get the mask match.

Match 3: Ángel de Oro, Rey Cometa, Tritón vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto

Winner: Hijos del Infierno (2-1)

Rey Cometa cleaning up the tecnicos

Review: [good] another very solid big match with a few huge high spots. Layout of the match was a litle odd, with the tecnicos winning the second fall despite Ephsto landing his dive, but the rudos suddenly being back in control to start the third fall. It worked out well because the comeback and triple dive was fun, and the finish was good as well. Angel de Oro stood out as a having a better match than usual; he stuck to his usual offense but seemed sharp. Rudos worked well together, and Mephisto flattened Rey Cometa on the finish. The last few minutes were strong.

triple dive!

Match 4: Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Escorpión, Pólvora
Arena México, 09/25/2015

  1. Revoulcionarios
    • Pólvora seated dropkick Gran Guerrero (2:09)
    • Dragon Rojo missile dropkick Niebla Roja (2:37)
  2. Guerreros
    • Ultimo Guerrero Pulpo Guerrero Dragon Rojo (3:13)
    • Gran Guerrero Pulpo Guerrero Pólvora (4:38)
  3. Guerreros
    • COR Niebla Roja (4:38)

Winner: Guerreros (2-1)
Match Time: 10:28
Notes: Lineup change had Pólvora replacing Dragon Rojo, but they both ended up in the match with Thunder out.

Everyone else was battling outside after a massive dive train when Niebla Roja slide back in to beat the twenty count.

Rojo on Roja violence

Review: [good] one of the better Revolucionarios/Guerreros matches during this long feud. Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Escorpion faded to the background a little bit, with Niebla Roja surprisingly getting a showcase (and the smart win at the end.) The Revolucionarios looked like a good unit. Dragon Rojo’s connected on the missle anti-air dropkick spot every time since they brought it back. The dive train at the end of the third fall worked great. No one missed Thunder.

Match 5: Atlantis, Máximo, Valiente vs La Máscara, La Sombra, Marco Corleone
Arena México, 09/25/2015

great moments in Marco
  1. Los Ingobernables
    • Marco Corleone Aero Italia Valiente & Atlantis (2:12)
  2. tecnicos
    • Valiente inside cradle Marco Corleone (3:09)
    • Maximo casita La Mascara (3:11)
  3. Los Ingobernables
    • La Sombra double knee smash Atlantis (6:11)

Winner: Los Ingobernables (2-1)
Match Time: 11:34

this is all too much for Maximo

Review: [good] borderline match; there wasn’t a lot of action in this one, but there was a lot of amusing stooging and schitk by the Ingobernables, playing off their opponents well. The timing of spots was really good and playing off last week’s finish with the Sombra’s friends being the difference made sense. Sombra joining La Mascara as Evil Pretty Boy isn’t quite what I’d want for him, and he wasn’t any more emphazed in this match than the rest of his teammates, but he also didn’t seem too hurt by losing his mask.

Match 6: Volador Jr. vs Rush
Arena México, 09/25/2015

running at Rush is a poor idea
  1. Volador inside cradle (2:46)
  2. DQ Ingobernables run-in (4:23)

Winner: Volador (2-1)
Match Time: 7:09
Notes: Rush attacked Volador on the way to the ring and dominated the first fall before being cradled while arguing with Tirantes. Rush’s right shoulder was gashed by the stairs on the stage after a Volador whip. Volador appeared enroute to an early win before the rest of the Ingobernables ran in. Volador’s pants were ripped off and Rush threw a drink in his face. Rush did the wins/losses don’t matter bit.

Volador’s got this down

Review: [ok] match was disappointment (enough that OK might be overrating it); both falls were short and onesided, never the battle you’d hope for from either guy. They did the big angle at the end that’s obviously going to lead to more between the two guys, but the match itself felt like the last day of a run of shows, with them being interested in getting done as quick as possible. It’s possible they had to end it quicker than planned. Rush landing his corner dropkick, not going for the pin, and walking around for about 15 seconds seemed like something strange was up (maybe stalling to get the rest of his team ready.) Rush didn’t seem to be affected by the cut, but it probably would’ve been CMLL’s call. The post match beatdown was good and Volador fighting them all off for a moment was good, but this was a downer way to end a good show.

bad shoulder into the barricade probably didn’t help
