1) Emperador Azteca, Metaleón, Mr. Leo b Acero, Imposible, Picudo Jr.
Metaleon beat Impossible leading into their title match on the 16th.
2) El Golpeador, El Hijo del Diablo, Oficial AK47, Rayan b Freelance, Leo, Mike, Rafy
3) Black Terry, Relámpago, Suicida b Hijo del Pantera, Pantera, Súper Nova
Terry & Suicida asked for a tag title match against the Panteras. The Panteras accepted (though they already have another title defense scheduled.)
4) Eterno b Oficial AK47 [hair]
Scheduled main event (X-Fly versus Hijo de Dos for the IWRG Heavyweight title) was canceled due to an unspecified injury to Hijo de Dos. (X-Fly didn’t otherwise appear.) IWRG announced the scheduled 911/Eterno match would instead be a hair match to make up. However, 911 also didn’t show, so it became Eterno versus AK47. Eterno won in straight falls, first when AK47 was caught fouling Eterno, the last when Eterno was not caught doing the same.
5) Danny Casas, Máscara Sagrada, Veneno b Negro Navarro, Pirata Morgan, Shu el Guerrero
Sagrada & Pirata feuded, teased a family vs family match

If the reason the title match didn’t happen was Hijo de Dos was hurt, it’s odd they didn’t find a spot for X-Fly. (X-Fly was also booked in Leon.) Not sure what happened to 911, but doing an impromptu hair match may have not agreed with everyone.

A brief interview talking about the IWRG Retro benefit show next week.

CMLL says Friday’s iPPV will be viewable live only – you’ll only be able to see it if you’re at your computer Friday night. I don’t know why they’re not doing VOD, that’s the standard for these sort of things, and there surely will be less than legal ways of watching the matches from the show within hours of if taking places. (For that same reason, it’s also unclear how much of a difference it actually makes. They should do VOD just because it’s the expected level of service, but I’d guess most people who watch iPPVs watch them live and there’s small minority of people who watch shows later legally.)

I feel like I can’t totally rule out this show actually having VOD – this is a company who just set up a mailing list to talk to iPPV buyers, set up so you were added to the list even if you didn’t buy the show, and then couldn’t figure out how to prevent everyone from emailing it for days – they come off as behind the curve on this project and it’s not impossible they don’t know exactly what they’re providing. On the flip side, if you’re a person who is going to be extra aggravated if you pay for this show and it has technical problems, maybe think really hard about if you really want to order this show for the same reason – not having VOD is a little bit of a red flag that CMLL doesn’t quite know what it’s doing here. (Someday, some lucha company will learn about the concept of “a soft launch”.) I think the wrestling is going to be worth $10, I’m just not confident about how it gets to you.

I’m traveling to Mexico tomorrow. As usual, content/schedule may be weird for the next while.

Lineups

CMLL (SAT) 09/19/2015 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala vs Camorra
2) Robin vs Espanto Jr.
3) Oro Jr. vs Metálico
4) Soberano Jr. vs Arkángel de la Muerte
5) Blue Panther Jr. & The Panther vs Kamaitachi & Okumura
6) Ephesto, Felino, Mr. Niebla vs Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Super Porky
7) Dragón Rojo Jr. © vs La Máscara [CMLL MIDDLE]
12th defense. First title defense since February.

That’s a rough show, even with Kamaitachi and Panther. Even putting aside the main event, that’s a unpromising semimain match, the Oro/Metalico rematch you never wanted, and the rest of the singles matches look concerning.

CMLL (SUN) 09/20/2015 Arena México
1) Leono, Metatrón, Sensei vs Apocalipsis, Artillero, Súper Comando
2) Magnus, Star Jr., Stigma vs Puma, Tiger, Virus
3) Dragon Lee, Titán, Valiente vs Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Vangellys
4) La Sombra, Marco Corleone, Rush vs Mr. Niebla, Shocker, Último Guerrero
5) Atlantis © vs Mephisto [MEX LH]
first defense, rematch of title change

It turns out Sombra IS on this card too, which means that CMLL isn’t hiding him after the Anniversary show. CMLL is just plain weird. This is more packed card than usual and they’re probably expecting a bigger turnout, so maybe they just had to have everyone.

I have no idea why Puma and Tiger are in the segundas.  Magnus needs to work on superkick defense this week.

CMLL (SUN) 09/20/2015 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Ángel Aéreo, Meteoro, Rey Halcón vs Gitano, Mr. Brisa, Relampago
2) Súper Estrella vs La Pantera
3) Exterminador & Maléfico vs Engendro Jr. & Roberto Paz Jr.
Guadalajara vs Arena Roberto Paz
4) El Divino, Neutrón, Vaquero Jr. vs Joker, Ráfaga, Sádico
5) Esfinge, Gallo, Magnum vs Damián 666, Halloween, Mosco X Fly
Guadalajara vs Tijuana

This is likely the ‘CMLL’ booking the Familia de Tijuana were talking about, as Sunday Guadalajara continues to bring in indy names (like the Roberto Paz luchadors elsewhere on the card.)

  1. “this is a company who just set up a mailing list to talk to iPPV buyers, set up so you were added to the list even if you didn’t buy the show, and then couldn’t figure out how to prevent everyone from emailing it for days”

Looks like they still haven’t figured it out. And the unsubscribe might not actually be working. But, if you’re on the list, you just got an offer of 25% off the iPPV that it seems like noone has actually paid them for yet.

  2. They fixed the code overnight. It is valid for 25% off until noon on Thursday. The code for the discount is FiestasPatrias2015 for those of you who have managed to avoid the mailing list thus far.

I went through and actually paid for the event. My guess is that it is going to be the youtube stream because they have Informa and Puebla links up inside the viewer, but not links to the main events posted by Claro Sports. It could definitely be something different on the day of the show, but I feel a bit more confident if they are using youtube.

  3. My uneducated guess is they will send out the private YouTube link via the mailing list…

… hopefully only to those who have paid. :)

Of course it’s inevitable someone will then share the link and everyone will watch for free.

Again, just a guess. Do not skip ordering because of this post and then get mad at me when you can’t find a free link. This is just how I see it going down.

  4. If you pay through cleeng, the receipt has a link to a cleeng.com page with the stream embedded. But yeah, it is just a youtube stream that they could send out any number of ways. Supposedly if you pay through a bank and send them the receipt (not to the public email address), they’ll send you the viewing information directly.

That said, people who want to watch it should buy it if they’ll be around and have faith in it working. We want them to do more of this and showing a willingness to pay for it is the only way to encourage it.
