Dr. Wagner Jr. off next week’s Anniversary show (¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Enrique Yniesta, guy who knows things, says Dr. Wagner is no longer part of the 09/18 CMLL Anniversary show. Marco Corleone will now take his place in the semifinal, teaming with Rush & Thunder versus Ultimo Guerrero, Volador and Shocker.

He repeated the report on Periscope.

Yniesta did not know if Wagner will wrestle tonight, as currently scheduled. CMLL has said nothing about any change and no one else is reporting this so far. (It might be notable CMLL did not send out the usual preview for the show today; last minute lineup changes are usually snuck in those.)

It’s unknown what happened. Wagner and LA Park are close, so it’s conceivable Wagner followed Park out the door. It’s also conceivable Wagner himself did something to get kicked off the promotion. (Update: Alfredo reminds me Wagner did work that show with AAA wrestlers this week. That could conceivable be it too. It could be anything or nothing at all.) Pretty much anything is conceivable with the rapidly deteriorating Anniversary show lineup at this point.

UPDATE: Apolo Valdez confirmed the report and says Dr. Wagner is off today’s show too. What in the world. Presumably, that means he’s also done with CMLL for the time being.

UPDATE 2: it looks like CMLL sent out a press release announcing the change, but just hasn’t put own it’s own site. SuperLuchas has the text.

UPDATE 3: The official story is Dr. Wagner Jr. called CMLL and said he didn’t feel like working for CMLL anymore, without giving a reason. Dr. Wagner hasn’t given a reason elsewhere yet. This doesn’t make a lot of sense; Wagner was going to make some nice money for just two more matches of work, and being on the Anniversary show would’ve made it easier for him to get more work. Instead, the impression he gives is he’s willing to walk out on one of the business promotions in the country (so why wouldn’t he pull something on you, independent promoter.)

It’s possible this is some move in loyalty to LA Park, though it seemed like LA Park thought Wagner got fired like him judging from his twitter posts. LA Park and Dr. Wagner are close, but Dr. Wagner’s best friends are the microphone and the camera, so I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about this soon.
