AAA in Cancun, CMLL Guadalajara, TripleMania buys

CMLL (TUE) 09/08/2015 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Joker & Sádico b Frezzer & Nautilius
2) Magnus, Molotov, Omar Brunetti b Arkángel de la Muerte, Hijo del Signo, Metálico
straight falls, with rudos being DQ for excessive violence in the first and Brunetti beating Metalico in the second.
3) Dark Angel, Marcela, Silueta b Amapola, Dalys, Zeuxis
Silueta replaced Lluvia. Dark Angel’s final match in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara. She submitted Amapola to the reinera.
4) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Super Porky b Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja
5) Negro Casas, Shocker, Último Guerrero b Atlantis, La Máscara, Volador Jr.
Negro caught Atlantis with a casita.
6) Marco Corleone b Mr. Niebla

Definite proof Marco is better than La Mascara. Neither Sombra & Atlantis are going in to the mask match with a lot of wins. (By the way, we’ve reached about the half way point of Rush & Sombra’s suspensions from wrestling in Guadalajara.)

Metalico talks about his Pedro Infante gimmick, says he never cheats. Probably shouldn’t be a rudo then. Is he going to be able to do this character if he loses his hair next week? That and Omar winning this week makes me think Metalico is not as sure a loser next week as I’d thought.

It’s not mentioned much, because it’s one of the shows I have to way of acquring, but these Tuesday Guadalajara shows are still airing on a couple of the Televisa channels. One of the announcers promotes the lineups occasionally, and it’s usually the top three matches airing.

CMLL Informa briefly touched on the LA Park situation about one hour and ten minutes into the show. It was during the Volador & Super Parka interview, who did not want to comment on the suspension publicly. They were hopeful the Familia Real trios match could still happen at some other Arena Mexico show down the road.

AAA has a TV taping today! They’re in Cancun for the first of two tapings in four days. Start time is listed as 8:30. The main event, and best chance for a good match, is Rey Misterio, Jack Evans, Anglieco versus Joe Lider, Myzteziz and Pentagon. There’s a good crew of luchadors on this shows, but there’s about one or two in every match who are not quite as good. The semimain is a good example: Cage, Pirata, Mesaias, Drago and Fenix all sound promising, but it hinges on how much La Parka helps or hurts.

There probably should be some setup for Heroes Inmortales but a) they don’t seem to be doing any set up for that show and b) this is sort of a vacation show anyway. (Promociones Juniors, the SLP local promoter for Heroes Inmortales, said they’d have that card out this week but haven’t yet posted it. Maybe they got a talking to.)

Not sure how the attendance is on this one. Cancun isn’t a regular stop, this is the first AAA taping in the city since 2008, but that might make fans more excited to finally get a TV show. The Hard Rock shows seem to do fine, but that’s a different crowd. One of the places I use to record AAA TV is the Televisa/GalaTV out of Cancun. That hasn’t been an option the last couple weeks, because the local baseball team made the playoffs and AAA’s been pre-empted to cover baseball instead. (It looks like that’ll happen this week too.) The first week AAA was off was the week the Cancun tapings were announced, so you wouldn’t be as aware of the show if you only followed the TV. The regular TV isn’t the only way to get the word – they got a lot of coverage when they did the press conference a few weeks ago – but it’s a bit of bad luck.

On the Bauer & Pollock show, Court Bauer said TripleMania PPV buys “exceeded all expectations, before refunds”, topping recent TNA & ROH shows and close to what the NJPW Tokyo Dome show drew (which Bauer was surprised by.)  He didn’t give a number of what they did, but said expectations were 1,500-2000 given the visibility of AAA in US/Canada. They have no info on how many refunds yet, and he fully expects there to be a massive amount. Bauer says it’s possible they might do an AAA US PPV again, but it’s not likely in the near future – they’re not going to do it without everyone sure production will go perfectly and they have a great card. Bauer specifically said Heroes Inmortales will not be a PPV (though he believes that’ll have a better card than TripleMania) and it generally came off like we should not be holding our breath for the next one.
