CMLL talks about LA Park, Astral keeps his title, AAA in Pachuca

CMLL (TUE) 09/08/2015 Arena México [CMLL, Yahoo! Deportes]
1) Bengala & Leono b Apocalipsis & El Rebelde
tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Canelo Casas, Nitro, Raziel b Pegasso, Starman, Stigma
Nitro beat Pegasso.
3) Astral © b Mercurio [CMLL MINI]
Seconds were Mini Olimpico & Starman. Astarl took falls 1/3 to retain, using Mercurio’s own package piledriver to win.
4) Delta, Esfinge, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Boby Zavala, Okumura, Puma
Boby Zavala replaced Kamaitachi on Friday. Guerrero Maya beat Puma for the win.
5) Fuego, The Panther, Tritón b Cavernario, Rey Bucanero, Vangellys
Triton defeated Cavernario in straight falls and challenged for a title shot. Cavernario accepted for next week.
6) Dragon Lee, Máximo, Valiente b Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
National trios champions took the loss, with Valiente beating Mephisto.

The big CMLL news of the day was elsewhere. LA Park being pulled from lineups became a big enough story that  CMLL actually explained it: Park disrespected the public and broke the rules of the promotion. It’s not said, but it’s pretty clear Park closing remarks (on what could be done with the fan’s mothers) are what got him fired. The statement says Park apologized and CMLL would consider booking him again, though does not have him booked at this time.

There’s push back from some fans on social media because they want lucha libre to be a place where someone can say that on the microphone, but that’s just not going to the kind of style CMLL is going to promote.

On Twitter, LA Park has said “words never cause anyone to bleed“, to say this shouldn’t have been treated as a big deal. Alfredo speculated if Claro Sports, who broadcast the show, could’ve been angry about what LA Park said. Claro did not post video of the show after posting the complete main event (but sometimes websites are just that random.) Meanwhile, on the weird CMLL mailing list people who bought the PPV were subscribed to without being told (not good!), CMLL official Rosalio Vera says LA Park also hit a fan, which LA Park has denied.

Park was probably going to be done either on the Anniversary show or a week after – he was there to tease the Rush match, and that’s not happening until March at the soonest. If either side stays sane and doesn’t start going after each other, LA Park will probably be back. It’s wrestling, so there’s no guarantee they’ll stay sane.

Not sure when the press release on Flyer missing Friday’s show is coming.

In other news, LA Park confirms he’s not Hulk Hogan.

AAA (TUE) 09/08/2015 Arena Aficion [Funcion Estelar]
1) Diosa Atenea & Zuzu Divine b Princesa Mohicana & Xena
2) Bart Simpson & Homero Simpson b Minion Morada I & Minion Morada II
3) Gotita de Plata, Goya Kong, Niño Hamburguesa DQ Concord, Machine Rocker, Taya
Holocausto (Electro, Pirata and Parka) ran in for the DQ to transition into the next match
4) Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Electroshock, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Parka Negra
5) Averno & Pentagón Jr. b Fénix & Myzteziz
Myzteziz hit Fenix with a chair as he was going for the dive to give the tencicos the win. Myzteziz again said he was not interested in being in any faction.

AAA spot show results are rare. They’re also, for reasons never explained, always running storylines months behind what’s on TV. Here, we get Holocausto being still a thing (though TV seemed to send Pirata with Daga & Pain) and Myzteziz still being programmed on the tecnico side. Crowd was good, much better than the local shows and a bit better than the usual CMLL show here, but not a sell out.

AAA’s caught up their YouTube feed to last week’s TV show. It’s the UTDN version, but the only extra material is a long recap of TripleMania. You really should watch the Aerostar/Steve Pain trios.

El Hijo del Santo told a fan he’ll have news of a new show on October 5, and implied it’d be in Leon. He’s mentioned running return shows prior, but nothing’s happened yet.

There hasn’t been much news or progress about any of the laws proposed following the death of Perro Aguayo. A boxing column in Sispe updates the WBC plan. The World Boxing Council, back in April, proposed they’d run a national commission on wrestling and would put Hijo del Santo in charge. This column says the rumors are this would only be half the plan – the WBC would also take over as the national boxing commission, pushing everyone else out and giving the group full control of boxing in the country. In that context, the wrestling is a secondary concern though Santo in charge would still make everyone crazy. There’s no sense of any progress on any of this; I wouldn’t expect it to be coming any time soon.

On the Casanova Pro show in Monterrey, Charles Lucero defeated Silver Star for the UWA Middleweight Championship (a title that always somehow ends up back in Silver Star’s hands.) Guerrero Mixitco, wrestling Rico Rodriguez on the show, appeared to be drunk and had a horrible match.

The new Odessa Steps magazine has interviews with Marco Corleone, Hechicero and Zeuxis.

RobViper has a music video of 04/04/15

Segunda Caida reviews Fuerza Guerrera, Emilio Charles Jr., La Fiera vs Hijo del Santo, Mascara Sagrada and Misterioso.

El Pancracio has pieces on Super Astro Jr. and Septiembre Negro.

SuperLuchas looks back at Tarzan Lopez’s retirement.

A recap of Ciclope & Violento Jack’s tour of Japan.

Lineups

IWRG (SUN) 09/13/2015 Arena Naucalpan
1) Emperador Azteca, Metaleón, Mr. Leo vs Acero, Imposible, Picudo Jr.
2) Freelance, Leo, Mike, Rafy vs El Hijo del Diablo, Golepador, Oficial AK47, Rayan
3) Hijo del Pantera, Pantera, Súper Nova vs Black Terry, Relámpago, Suicida
4) Oficial 911 vs Eterno
5) Danny Casas, Máscara Sagrada, Veneno vs Negro Navarro, Pirata Morgan, Shu el Guerrero
6) Hijo De Dos Caras vs X-Fly [IWRG IC HEAVY]
sixth defense for Dos

Dos hasn’t been in IWRG much. IWRG is inherently random, but it would make sense for X-Fly to win the title in this match.

Looks like no Wednesday show this week.

CMLL (TUE) 09/15/2015 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino & Reycko vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
2) Gallo, Hombre Bala Jr., Súper Halcón Jr. vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Sangre Azteca
3) Blue Panther Jr., Esfinge, The Panther vs Boby Zavala, El Cuatrero, Sansón
4) Omar Brunetti vs Metálico [hair]
5) Ángel de Oro, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. vs Misterioso Jr., Pierroth, Sagrado
6) Máximo, Super Porky, Valiente vs Euforia, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

Still not sure why this isn’t a Wednesday show. Maybe there’s something else going on in Guadalajara? It does mean a few guys are working both ‘Tuesday’ shows. Omar remains the favorite in the hair match.

Note the Cien Caras sons are back in the tercera.

CMLL (WED) 09/16/2015 Arena México
1) La Vaquerita & Skadi vs La Seductora & Reyna Isis
2) Delta, Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Kamaitachi, Okumura, Virus
3) Blue Panther, La Máscara, Titán vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
4) Marco Corleone, Máximo, Super Porky vs Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible
5) Cavernario © vs Tritón [MEX WELTER]
Cavernario’s first defense
6) Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Triton’s an underdog, but just getting a title match is a big moment for him. He’s ascended to the Stuka/Fuego level where CMLL might remember to do something with him every year or so. The match should be great too. Show is an early time of 5pm, which actually makes it even more impossible for our group to make it there. Hope I manage to record it.

That opener looks, uh, very challenging.

  1. “Meanwhile, on the weird CMLL mailing list people who bought the PPV were subscribed to without being told (not good!), CMLL official Rosalio Vera says LA Park also hit a fan, which LA Park has denied.”

I have a hard time taking anything that someone who responds to the webmanager@cmll.com email address but can’t make the email list closed to outside senders too serious.

Then again, its Park, so anything is possible.

CMLL is so random. They never comment on anything, but are willing to let officials send direct emails to fans with this type of accusation?

  2. Sooooo it is okay to be drunk/stoned and risk your opponents health, but don’t tell someone to go duck themselves. Got it

The CMLL HR Handbook must be quite a read

  3. Thanks for the plug, cubs.
For those that didnt click the link, theres also an article about the august chilanga mask show with all the great matches, two articles by Dr Lucha, a remembrance of Eric Caiden and a look at lucha in the Love and Rockets comic.

    And a cover by kcidis.
