Mr. Niebla is horrible

Nothing extra ordinary, but a lot of good matches.

all the moves, none of the pins

Review: [ok] Missed most of the first fall with stream transmission problems, but what we got to see was decent. This wasn’t on the same level as the Cats/Panthers matches from last year, with them being a little limited by not being able to do dives, but the pace and the intensity was a bit down from usual. Puma & Tiger continue to look great in all of their matches. The new dropkick combination they’re doing is nice, and most everything they do looks sold. Estrellita complained about Blue Panther Jr. getting triple teamed by the rudos, so all was fun.

Match 2: Ángel de Oro ©, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. vs Ephesto, Kamaitachi, Mephisto ©
Arena México, 09/04/2015

Rey Cometa wishing he didn’t return
  1. rudos
    • Kamaitachi ramp dropkick Angel de Oro (5:07)
  2. tecnicos
    • Angel de Oro campana Mephisto (2:48)
    • Rey Cometa Spanish Fly Kamaitachi (3:07)
  3. tecnicos
    • Stuka two torpedo splash Mephisto (6:25)

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:39
Notes: Terror Chino is referee.

Kamaitachi gets over at the last second

Review: [good] well worked fun match with the tecnicos looking super, especially in the third fall. All their exchanges in the third fall looked good, with Angel de Oro being as smooth as ever and Rey Cometa both selling big and pulling out big spots. (The dive off the apron was a big surprise.) The rudos did their part too, with Kamaitachi looking great against everyone and Mephisto & Ephesto having a stronger than usual match. Stuka doing two torpedo splashes to win was totally random but worked with the rest of the tecnico run.

Match 3: Titán vsPólvora in a lightning match
Arena México, 09/04/2015

Winner: Titan (Titan Cradle)
Match Time: 7:34
Notes: Referee is Edgar. The feed went out for me just as Titan finished his cradle but before the three count.

unending strike fight

Review: [good] highlight reel version of their usual big match, and it’s usual because they’ve had a few times doing it. Everything looked good, Titan got big height on his moonsault and big distance on his ramp dive, Polvora knocked him out of the air well with his dropkick. This is just one where there’s better singles match if you look; this was for the people who won’t look. The crowd didn’t take to it as well as they have in the past, but about as well as they take to lightning match. The stream died on the finish live; maybe it’ll go a little better if it airs on TV Azteca.

springboard moonsault
everyone having fun with the ramp tonight

Match 4: Blue Panther, La Máscara ©, Super Porky vs Boby Zavala, Rey Bucanero, Shocker ©
Arena México, 09/04/2015

  1. rudos
    • Rey Bucanero rolling senton Blue Panther (4:34)
    • Shocker elbow drop Super Porky (4:56)
  2. tecnicos
    • La Mascara modified tapatia Shocker (1:58)
  3. tecnicos
    • La Mascara campana Shocker (6:09)
    • La Mascara campana Boby Zavala (6:24)

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:18

Rey Bucanero is strong
unexpected topes

Review: [ok] slightly better than usual Super Porky/La Mascara special. Shocker & Rey Bucanero were doing more excited than usual and the match got a little more time. Zavala fit in, but he’s also been with these guys before and this is a pretty early match. This was more about La Mascara than it was Zavala – Mascara actually used a different submission in the second fall, then made up for it in the third fall. Would’ve liked more Panther/Zavala.

Match 5: Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Cavernario, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
Arena México, 09/04/2015

  1. Peste Negra
    • Barbaro Cavernario boost dropkick Volador (3:21)
    • Mr. Niebla top rope splash Valiente (3:39)
  2. Sky Team
    • Valiente Buster on Mr. Niebla (1:45)
  3. Sky Team
    • Mistico casita Negro Casas (3:34)
    • Volador super huracanrana Barbaro Cavernario (3:42)

Winner: Sky Team (2-1)
Match Time: 9:06
Notes: Ref was Babe Richard

Mistico is basically Volador’s Pokemon

Review: [good] a rushed match where they tried to pack in all the usual spots in four less minutes, for whatever reason. Niebla was doing good, so the match did pretty well. Cavernario handled all the big Mistico spots, the big Volador hurracanrana for the finish, and lots of big spots of his own. The triple dive spots looked good and nothing went wrong. There wasn’t a lot here that isn’t in most Sky Team matches, and it didn’t feel like a lot of Negro Casas, but this was still a solid match.

everyone’s catching on to this, caveman
this is not a fun move to take

Match 6: Dr. Wagner Jr. & La Sombra vs Atlantis & LA Park
Arena México, 09/04/2015

  1. tecnicos
    • Sombra double knee smash LA Park (3:19)
    • Dr. Wagner Jr. grounded octopus Atlantis (3:21)
  2. rudos
    • Atlantida on LA Park (5:55)
    • COR Sombra (6:15)
  3. tecnicos
    • Atlantis pin with ropes Sombra (9:58)
    • LA Park mask pull Dr. Wagner Jr. (10:31)

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 20:07

La Sombra

Notes: Referee is Tirantes. Finish was some accidental comedy. Sombra tried to get a pin with a cradle and the ropes, but Atlantis kicked out. Sombra argued with Tirantes, Atlantis tried for the same finish, but was nowhere near the ropes and had to let go of the pin to grab them. That was still enough for three. Wagner ran in and pulled off Atlantis mask, while Tirantes was arguing with Sombra. LA Park came in and took a weird route to run into Tirantes, then Wagner pulled Park’s mask too and cradled him. Wagner & Sombra pulled off Atlantis & LA Park’s masks post match and Sombra invited Wagner to the Ingobernables.

that’s a bad place for steps!

Review: [good] pales in comparison to last week’s match, had a lot quieter crowd, and an awful looking finishing sequence, but was still a worthwhile match. They teased it as a four way to start, with everyone in opposite corners, but mostly worked the direct feuds. LA Park & Dr. Wagner, for as long as they’re going to last here, bring a crazy brawling style which no one else is going to be able to do. Atlantis seemed dwarfed in popularity and ability in this match, but at least one of those should be fixed two weeks from now. Sombra looked like a star and didn’t get overshadowed by LA Park & Wagner. Park & Wagner had as much as their usual match as allowed, and probably a bit that wasn’t supposed to be allowed, and are going to be helped by this exposure even if they’re gone in a couple weeks. It’s hard to believe they’ll last, but they’re also the kind of guys who are better off not being around every week. They did get over great this week, and their presence makes this work in a way it wouldn’t have with Ultimo Guerrero and Thunder (by a big margin)
