Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 15:19
Notes: Bestia Negra is referee.

Review: [OK] A better than Mexico City opener with a few flaws. Black Tiger has strong old man offense. Zaeta Roja wants to do stuff but is very green. Robin is so limited for a guy who’s been wrestling regularly for years. Espiritu Maligna did some spectacular stuff and took all the pinfalls. I have no recollection of anything Guerrero Especial did in this match.

Cancerbero is not really adding a lot here

Review: [ok] Basic segunda which seemed more interesting on paper than it reality. Raziel & Cancerbero did more than usual and got a couple of oddly timed pinfalls. This is the part of King Jaguar & Lestat feud where it’s still going but it feels like it’s well over.

Match 3: Marcela vs Amapola in a lightning match
Arena Puebla, 08/03/2015

Winner: Marcela (Michonku Driver)
Match Time: 7:07
Notes: Referee is Bestia Negra

tope con giro right at you

Review: [good] Just making the good sign of the line; they did less than I would’ve expected, kind of a B lightning match with some of the familiar spots, but not all of them or anything new. It was a shortened version of the greatest hits, just not done as well as they’ve done in the past. Marcela winning is weird, that never happens with the lightning match set up to a title match (though I guess it should form time to time.)

Match 4: Ángel de Oro, Titán, Valiente vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Pólvora
Arena Puebla, 08/03/2015

  1. rudos
    • Mephisto Devil’s Wings Titan (3:41)
    • Mephisto La Rosa Valiente (4:03)
  2. tecnicos
    • Titan headscissors cradle Ephesto (1:29)
    • Valiente arm trap half crab Mephisto (1:29)
  3. rudos
    • Polvora tope con giro Angel de Oro (3:31)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:03
Notes: Polovra asked for a title match, but the crowd and Angel de Oro said no.

Review: [ok] Rushed midcard that felt like a lot of the same stuff as usually from these guys. In Ephesto’s case, usual means not very good. There’s some particularly low energy stuff from him in this match. More Angel de Oro/Polvora did not seem like a promising idea, but Polvora’s promo after the match was amusing.

Valiente wipes out Ephesto

Match 5: La Máscara, Atlantis, Último Guerrero vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Rey Escorpión in a relevos increíbles match
Arena Puebla, 08/03/2015

  1. Team Casas
    • Negro Casas casita Atlantis (3:51)
    • Rey Escorpión half crab armbar (4:01)
  2. Team Mascara
    • Mascara suplex Negro Casas (2:47)
  3. Team Casas
    • Rey Escorpión foul Ultimo Guerrero (4:03)

Winner: Team Casas (2-1)
Match Time: 10:51
Notes: Atlantis replaced Rush. Referee is Bestia Negra

Review: [terrible] Among the worst matches of the year! Everyone loves the character of Drunk Mr. Niebla but the actual Drunk Mr. Niebla tends to ruin everything. This was the second match promoting a recent singles rematch, which was kind of strange, but not as strange as Mr. Niebla being let in the ring in his condition.

Mascara has had enough of this

Match 6: Volador Jr. vs La Sombra
Arena Puebla, 08/03/2015

  1. Sombra modified Michinoku Driver (2:05)
  2. Volador backcracker (3:15)
  3. Volador Spiral #1 (16:49)

Winner: Volador (2-1)
Match Time: 22:09
Notes: Referee is Tirantes

Sombra tornillo

Review: [great] The Volador versus Sombra showcase, which is a lot better than the Gran Guerrero versus Sombra showcase. And it’s better than the Ultimo Guerrero matches; these two take a similar tack of doing all their spots in the third fall after getting thru a couple of early quick falls, but at least they switch around the order of the spots and the move that might end it. (It’s also remarkable how often they have clean finishes despite Sombra and Volador before him being very strongly rudo.) I would enjoy some sort of depth of story telling in this matchup – the personalities are really good but they need to apply them stronger – but this was another incredible athletic encoutner.

how does this even happen
there’s no safe place to put Volador
