Straight falls wins for the tecnicos in a great match. Demus and Shockercito feuded.
3) Disturbio b Boby Zavala [En Busca de un Idolo] Cuarta temporada del torneo En Busca de un Idolo Bobby Zavala Vs Disturbio (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
Disturbio beat Zavala with Ephesto’s Roll. Volador was guest judge (and Shocker returned.) Disturbio scored 9, 7, 8, 8 for 32. Zavala scored 9, 8, 8, 9 for 34.
4) Guerrero Maya Jr. b Esfinge [En Busca de un Idolo] Cuarta temporada del torneo En Busca de un Idolo Guerrero Maya Vs Esfinge, (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
Guerrero Maya beat Esfinge with his sit down piledriver. Maya scored 8, 8, 7, 9 for 32. Esfinge scored 8, 8, 7 and 0 for a 23. Tirantes thanked the luchadors and fans and walked off instead of offering a score. (Shocker tried to rate Esfinge 10 on Tirantes behalf, but it was not allowed.) Esfinge was mathematically eliminated by Tirantes not offering a score.
5) Mistico, Super Porky, Volador Jr. b Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión Mistico, Super Porky, Volador Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión (posted by luchablogdos) SEGUNDA LUCHA CMLL 14 Agosto 2015 (2) (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
Volador & Mistico were dropped down to this match on Monday, replacing Mascara (moved up) and Marco (off show entirely.) Mistico beat Rey Escorpion clean with La Mistica.
6) Atlantis, Máximo, Valiente b La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush Atlantis, Máximo, Valiente vs La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush (posted by luchablogdos) PRIMERA LUCHA CMLL 14 Agosto 2015 (1) (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
main event shuffled on Monday, with only Atlantis staying in it. Mascara was moved up from semimain, but others were not booked. Sombra snuck in a foul on Atlantis for the win. Atlantis challenged Sombra to a mask match, and Sombra accepted to the Anniversary charge.

No sign of Thunder (this week or next), no real sign of any other feud, but it still seems implausible Sombra & Atlantis is actually happening. CMLL really wanted you to believe it’s actually happening. Doing Sombra & Atlantis for the masks in a five week build would be very strange, but that’s about the same time frame AAA just did on Rey Mysterio versus Myzteziz. The only other feud last night was Shockercito & Demus, and they’re not going to be in a cage with those guys.

En Busca de un Idolo standings

210 Guerrero Maya Jr.

181 Disturbio

176 Boby Zavala
140 Esfinge

Esfinge losing to Guerrero Maya basically eliminated him, something screwy would’ve had to happen in the fan poll for him to advance, but Tirantes walking off ended that possibility. Tirantes knew what he was doing and treated this competition with exactly the respect it deserved.

In that same vein: if Disturbio stays close to Zavala in the poll, he’s going to advance to the final because someone couldn’t keep track of who defeated who. (Zavala should have 20 extra points which went to Disturbio instead.) Zavala’s probably going to win the fan poll because he’s got people who know how to cheat the system behind him. If you’re rooting for Maya, you may want to see if you can stop that from happening. Disturbio’s raised his stock but probably isn’t going to get put over either Maya or Zavala in a final. Maya versus Zavala is a toss up, maybe with Zavala the slight favorite, so Maya would very much benefit from Disturbio finishing ahead of Zavala. (This is really how CMLL chooses who they’re going to push.) Polls will close on Wednesday.

Rey Escorpion sure is losing a lot.

ClaroSports worked OK at best. The video was region blocked, at least at first, but people were able to get around it pretty easily via VPN. Hopefully someone turns that off, because anyone who really wants to get around it will. Video kept getting better and worse a lot early and late in the show. YouTube was a much better experience.

2) Dement Extreme, Hermano Muerte II, Hermano Muerte III b Boricua 1, Boricua 2, Boricua 3
3) Ludark Shaitan & Miss Janeth b Felina Metalica & Krazy Star
Ludark pulled Felina’s mask for the win.
4) Aeroboy, Mike Segura, X-Fly b Delta, Neza Kid, Punker
Bizzaro replaced Guerrero Maya Jr. Delta challenged X-Fly to a singles match for some reason.
5) Trauma I & Trauma II b Hechicero & Xibalba
Shibala replaced Virus. Money thrown in.
6) Virus b Guerrero Maya Jr.
Bonus match (to lengthen the show so Rush could make the main event.) Money thrown in.
7) LA Park & Pagano b Mr. Niebla & Rush
Finish saw Mr. Niebla pulled out the referee to stop a count, Dement Extreme appear to attack LA Park, Hijo de LA Park attack Rush, Rush foul Hijo de LA Park, LA Park foul Rush, Pagano attack LA Park, and Pagano pin Rush. LA Park challenged Rush after the match.

Guerrero Maya had two singles matches, including a long technical match that probably only existed so Rush could get to Neza. A long night for him, but easier to understand than the main event finish. Park does get Rush, since Arena Lopez Mateos has Volador/Park Family versus Ingobernables tonight.

Sabado Retros has Zeuxis versus Silueta for the Mexican National Women’s Championship. Zeuxis has never beaten Silueta in a Mexico city single’s match; Silueta has won their two previous Arena Coliseo meetings.

Sunday Arena Mexico has another Sky Team versus Guerreros match.

Sunday also the ChilangaMask show. There’s a great Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Guerrero Maya Sr. video up to hype the show, and they’re both interviewed in Basta.

Reads like there’s a sponsored show on Saturday in Arena Mexico.

The Lucha Underground plan seems to have switched from “the latest we’ll be back is January 16” to “we won’t be back before January ’16” judging from the bookings the indy guys are taking. (We’ll probably know by November/Decemeber if it gets pushed back again if the guys start to take January bookings.)

Pepe Casas says his family made him promise he’d retire back in December. He plans to keep training luchadors.

Zeuxis talks about her match with Keira.

Fuego en el Ring interviews Centvrion about his career.

Reyna Isis is coming back to CMLL soon. I forgot she existed.

LuchaWorld catches up on KrisZ’s news update with part 1 and part 2.

Box Y Lucha #3200 has rudo Myzteziz.

losing teams from previous matches face off. Capitans won’t be decided until after the match.

Main event is a culmination of the recent feuds. Thinking one of the Oficials will lose, but we haven’t seen Eternus and Picashu much at all and they’re suddenly in the main event. That usually doesn’t work out well.

CMLL (FRI) 08/21/2015 Arena México

2) Shockercito, Stukita, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pequeño Violencia

3 thoughts to “Atlantis versus Sombra in a mask match? En Busca de un Idolo, LA Park/Rush”

  1. Sombra and Atlantis sounds like a dynamite match, and the storyline could have been a great one, but in 5 weeks?

On the other hand most CMLL feuds consists of “I suddenly target you in a match, we get booked repeatedly where we tear masks, later, rinse, repeat for X.number of weeks befre we have a.mask.match”, i guess X=5???

Seeing them build Volador/Sombra, Atlantis/Guerrero and then Guerrero/Escorpion over a long period of time, I.guess i expected CMLL to actually try that again, it smells of emergency booking. Neither man should lose their mask as a “backup plan”.

  2. Honestly it’s probably just a way to get people to pay for UG/Thunder. If Atlantis/Sombra happens it’ll be in 2016 at earliest.

Will be interesting crowd reaction when they realize they aren’t getting Atlantis/Sombra & on top of that Thunder likely beats Guerrero.

I would say CMLL will damage the faith they have with their loyal fan base but I’m not sure that’s possible since CMLL plays by such different rules.

  3. Build wise Guerrero/Thunder is better for sure, match wise not so much.

Surprise us and give us Rush/Park and the rest is less important.
