CMLL Lucha Azteca: 2015-07-11

Most of the show was one more Super Porky match. They’ve really struggled to handle TV with En Busca de un Idolo going on.

Porky, slow destructive force
  1. Invasors
    • swinging gate bomb on Titan (5:45)
    • Ripper top rope senton (6:25)
  2. técnicos
    • Titan top rope huracanrana Ripper (4:14)
  3. Invasors
    • Ripper top rope splash Super Porky (7:30)

Winner: Invasors (2-1)
Match Time: 18:09

Review: [ok] Super Porky made the world’s slowest comeback in this second fall. The guys who do the slow motion spots move faster than him. That was right for this match, which was a very slow and long Super Porky match (which he inexplicable lost.) Getting your knees up to block a Porky splash does not seem like a great idea for your knees. Mije biting Porky in the backside is not allowed on Azteca, and probably should not be allowed anywhere. It’d nice to see Titan in more real matches and less of these.

Match 2: Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero vs Pólvora, Rey Escorpión, Thunder

Niebla on Triton level splash
  1. Revolucionarios
    • Revolucionarios triple powerbomb Ultimo Guerrero (4:20)
  2. Revolucionarios
    • Rey Escorpion mask pull Gran Guerrero (4:28)
    • Rey Escorpion low blow Ultimo Guerrero (6:22)

Winner: Revolucionarios (2-0)
Match Time: 10:42
Notes: Revolcuionarios come thru the crowd to attack the Guerreros. The music is turned down for all the entrances on this show. Revolucionarios keep Gran Guerrero isolated in the ring and Niebla & UG out (and Tirantes doesn’t have a problem with any of it.) Then, they just stop keeping him in. Gran Guerrero tries to do a promo after the match, but Azteca cuts it out as normal.

Review: [ok] Brawling build up match, with some nonsense in the second fall. Rey Escorpion cheating to beat both Guerreros took longer to accomplish and included a random Pólvora/Niebla Roja exchange. (It’s not that they were bad, it’s that it was so beyond the point.) Thunder had one of his worst performances in a while, with his frog splash landing on Guerrero’s knees and just generally not looking good. There was definitely an idea to set up Rey Escorpion/Gran Guerrero for next week but it didn’t come across well on TV.
