Posted listed this as Rush vs LA Park, but it became Park & Hijo Park vs Niebla & Rush. Rush bled; LA Park said this was first time Rush had bled (which it was not) and compared it to another first time someone might bleed. Park won after he and Rush exchanged fouls.
Main event looks fun in the videos. Building was full or close to it. LA Park said Rush is good and he respects him which is the most incredible thing to happen. Maybe now Rush can broker a peace between Park & Sombra

Juventued Guerrera was the mystery person (listed to be Extreme Tiger at one point.) Ingobernables got annoyed and fouled the oppositon.

Fuerza & Octagon did their usual match (Octagon was tied to the ropes). Money thrown in and match was more or less treated like the main event, though the match itself wasn’t that good and relied a lot on nostalgia.
6) Big Ryck & Volador Jr. DQ Rush & Shelton Benjamin
Rush fouled Volador. Big Ryck was said to be very slow, and Shelton seemed to be mailing it in.
Attendance had to be disappointing given the heavy hype about Octagon’s big return. Seemed like maybe 6 or 7,000 in pictures. That’s a good number, a very strong number for an average CMLL Sunday show, but this was probably quite a big more expensive than a normal CMLL show. The fans of Octagon’s generation just aren’t fans or aren’t fans of him anymore, I’d guess. Time moves on, even when luchadors try to pretend elsewise.
Big Ryck wasn’t really strongly advertised as working the show; the only way you knew was if you visited the promotion’s Facebook account or follow lucha libre news (and those people probably had made up their mind on going prior.) I don’t think those guys in the main event really meant anything for this show as far as attendance, but it might be a signal about Big Ryck’s future plans – this might be his last match as Big Ryck if he’s now out of Lucha Underground. His character doesn’t as clearly reach an end point as Hernandez does on the last episodes, but he did end up significantly injuring someone in his last match and it’s not impossible both sides could’ve previously decided to part way.
While Octagon was making his big return to Arena Mexico, Goya Kong was heading out the door. She showed up Orizaba as the surprise luchadora in the opening match (and presumably the one in that spot for all the cards going forward.) Goya’s booked Monday in Puebla, so it didn’t seem like CMLL was aware this was happening.
Goya, especially when she’d wrestle on those dead Tuesday shows, seemed like one of the most over acts in CMLL. She sometimes just seemed to be doing a lot of her father’s routines, but she also comes off as someone who having fun being a luchadora and someone who recognizes there’s a crowd there to be entertained. It didn’t seem like CMLL had plans for her (and probably could’ve gotten more mileage of the Sexy Team trio than they ever tried.) AAA doesn’t seem to have big plans for any women right now, and the inevitable Taya/Goya match will not be good for anyone, but Goya will be perfect for AAA’s mixed opening matches.
This is actually a return to AAA for Goya. She and her sister (wrestling as Dinah) wrestled a few house shows for AAA in 2008. Their lack of bookings was one of the complaints Brazo de Plata citing for leaving AAA later on.
The other big news from the taping is Texano Jr. is out indefinitely due to arm injury. They didn’t say exactly what had happened, only blamed usual rival Psycho Clown. Still no TripleMania date.
Ultimo Guerrero compares Rey Escorpion to a young Shocker, says he’ll have a surprise for his apuesta match, and would be willing to face Thunder next or go to a cage match. Everyone always says they have a surprise, don’t read too much into it.

The Herald Tribune has an atmosphere story on the Dr. Wagner/Silver King headlined show in Florida. Elsewhere, the main event was said to be what you’d expect out of those two guys, with it feeling more like a US indy show underneath.
SuperLucha looks back to Anibal winning the middleweight title.
Rey Escorpion: “if you want to see Ultimo Guerrero without hair, come to the show on July 17th to cry with him, because I’m going to retire him and send him home bald.”
Ultimo Guerrero wants Rey Escorpion first and Thunder second.
Diamante Azul challenges Rush and Sombra to matches. Note that in that interview, Azul’s said to be away due to “personal problems” and not “wrestling in Europe.”

These cards are getting more and more random. There doesn’t seem to be a set local crew. Neutron would be making his first appearance here in four years. Ex-AAA wrestler Black Abyss used the name Nautilius prior; I don’t think this is him but I rule nothing out. (Micro used to be the name of a drawf wrestler, pre-minis division, and I kind of rule that being him out.)

So, show opens with an English-language ring announcer. A man no less, even though that role is now almost exclusively for women in my opinion. So right away it feels very indy and not like Lucha.

Pretty good match.

Dante challenged dressing room. Some guy came out and, name never announced and was pinned. Then another guy, wrapped in Mexican flag came out, announced as Jorge Rodriguez from Palmetto, and they went to a 2x countout? Yes. That’s makes no sense. You’re supposed to get the big pop and pin in this scenario. Oh well.
El Hijo de Dr. Wagner d el Boriqua w/Fantasy.
Fantasy did some mic work in Spanish and looks like the kind of woman who learned some Spanish hanging around cantinas in towns like Palmetto.

Oh man. IWL title was on the line and Wagner wore the belt to the ring. Both men played tecnico and the entire match was based around bitch-slapping and shoving the ref. Some gay jokes and penis size jokes too.
Wagner got the pin when the ref finally shoved back. So the rudos from the opener did a run-in. El Hijo de Wagner ran in to make it 3-on-3. Rudos backed off and now the mic work begins. Dr. Wagner challenged el Guapo to a hair vs. mask match and I guess the promoter really thinks he’s doing a return date and that this will draw. For whatever reason, Silver King called el Guapo a “faggot”(just one day after the SCOTUS ruling of course), and used some other curses on the mic. Not sure what Silver King’s problem is, but he kind of killed the mood, as this was a family indy crowd, not hardcore indy crowd.
Crowd was 400. Radio sponsors were two radio stations out of Arcadia which really don’t even cover Sarasota-Bradenton-Palmetto area. Unimas/Univision was tv sponsor but I did not see spots during LU so why bother?
