CMLL (FRI) 06/26/2015 Arena México [CMLL, Notimex]
1) Demus 3:16 & Mercurio b Eléctrico & Último Dragoncito
Mercurio was wearing a Demus like outfit and facepaint. Rudos
2) Okumura, Sangre Azteca, Virus b Pegasso, Starman, Tritón
3) Kráneo, Olímpico, Ripper b Blue Panther, Super Porky, Titán Blue Panther, Super Porky, Titán vs Kráneo, Olímpico, Ripper (posted by luchablogdos)
4) Canelo Casas b Blue Panther Jr. [En Busca de un Idolo] Cuarta Temporada del torneo (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
Canelo win clean in about 5 minutes. Blue Panther was the guest official. Canelo scored a 8 (Panther), 7 (Gladiador), 6 (Shocker), 6 (Tirantes) for 27. Panther Jr. scored a 0, 7, 6, 5 – the 0 came when Panther refused to put up a score for his son, and so Panther Jr. received a 0 for an 18.
5) Flyer b Boby Zavala [En Busca de un Idolo] Cuarta Temporada del torneo (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
best tournament match so far. Zavala landed his top rope splash for a 2 count, argued with the referee, and was inside cradled by Flyer for the win. Flyer’s first win in the tournament. Flyer scored 8 (Panther), 8 (Gladiador), 8 (Shocker), 4 (Tirantes) for 28. Zavala scored 8, 8, 9, 7 for 32.
6) La Sombra, Rey Bucanero, Rush b Diamante Azul, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]
Ingobernables/Rey took falls 2/3, though Sombra & Rush turned on Bucanero as soon as the match was over.
7) Pólvora, Rey Escorpión, Thunder b Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
straight falls, Rey Escorpion foul on UG for the win.

Terra matches, outside of Flyer/Zavala, were all pretty bleh. Crowd was really good. Porra Fresa, the tecnico support group from Puebla, made the trip in for the show and kept the building loud where it otherwise would’ve been quiet. Canelo/Panther in particular would’ve been death in front of a normal crowd. Tirantes score to Flyer didn’t really make much sense. If there’s any logic there, it’s that Tirantes punishes mistake spots more than he credits guys for trying something.

Current En Busca de un Idolo standings:

283 Boby Zavala
236 Guerrero Maya Jr.*
181 Flyer
177 Canelo Casas
164 Esfinge*
158 Disturbio*
156 Blue Panther Jr.
130 Delta*

Blue Panther gave everyone else an 8, so he probably cost his son 8 points. Whoever’s figuring out the fan voting totals tried to help him out: instead of giving people 3s and 5s and such for finishing far behind, the lowest finishers received 15 and 17s. The top guys still got big leads from being on top, but it’s keeping the pack all close together. Still, if they really wanted to help Panther, they wouldn’t have him lose to Canelo Casas. It’s not looking good for him.

That Delta/Disturbio is a really interesting outcome on Tuesday. It’s Disturbio’s first match since his promo, and it’s match that could catapult Delta right back into the middle of things with a win and a good performance. We would’ve easily figured Delta to win coming into this contest. Things are less clear now. If Disturbio actually lives up to his promo and goes all out from the start, maybe it’s a match that deserves a good judging number. Maybe the judges don’t give him one out of spite!

It took 423 points to make the top 4 last year. The judging point totals are down from last year: average first round judging panel score was 7.3 to 5.9 this year. That’s trending up as the contest goes on, but no one’s in danger of getting all 9s or all 10s. I’m not sure 4 will reach 350.

At the All Elite press conference, Juvi said he wouldn’t be working the show if he wasn’t in the main event. He appears not to be in the main event: it’s now announced to be Shelton Benjamin & Rush vs Volador & Big Ryck of Lucha Underground. That’s a bizarre match. If the rule really is that no one can work both All Elite and AAA/LU, then that would mean Ryck would also be out of Lucha Underground. I’m sure All Elite is a nice payday, but it’s hard to imagine people would take that booking if it cost them a regular job, unless they’re under the impression that regular job is going away (either they’re done or the show is done) or they don’t believe that’s an actual problem. Juvi likely slips down to the card to take Extreme Tiger’s spot.

Meanwhile, Fuerza Guerrera says Negro Casas is better than Octagon. Yes. Yes. This is a correct statement.

+LuchaTV also posted video of the the Disturbio rant.

PWG announced their full Battle of Los Angeles field yesterday. AAA regulars Pentagon Jr., Fenix, Drago, Angelico, Jack Evans and Aerostar will participate in the 24 man 3 night tournament, joining Brian Cage in the previously announced field. This continues the AAA invasion of the US indies this summer. Not sure if it’ll be the last date. The leaked then denied Angelico & Jack Evans versus the Young Bucks match may be back (or still) on. The Bucks said it was off because they weren’t working in PWG, but perhaps they only meant they weren’t working at that specific moment in time – they showed up last night as a surprise.

No real idea where they’re going with the relevos. I can picture CMLL going with Rush versus Diamante Azul and they did battle in last night’s match, but I’m not sure if that’s meant ot be a thing.

Don’t like Gran Guerrero’s chances in the semimain, but then they’ve already pulled the UG/GG switch once. Kamaitachi returns to Arena Mexico; he seems to start up Monday in Puebla again. This match should be a pretty fun.

En Busca de un Idolo has the big Delta/Maya match, which seems like it should’ve been saved for a bigger show. The following Tuesday will have Blue Panther Jr. versus Flyer and Esfinge versus Boby Zavala

  1. Just got back from the “Lucha Libre” show in Palmetto, Fl. It was basically an indie show headlined by Wagner vs. Silver King. Both played tecnico and most of the match was comedy around slapping and shoving the referee. Wagner got the pin. This lead to a run-in by some locals from the opening bout with Hijo de Wagner then running in to make it even. And then they did lots of mic work and challenges with tons of Silver saying “faggot” and other profanities in English on the mic.

    400 in attendance.
