Bucanero keeps his title, FULL taping, Friday preview

CMLL (TUE) 06/16/2015 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Magnum & Virgo b Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
Tecnicos took 1/3
2) Estrellita, Goya Kong, Princesa Sugehit b Amapola, Chik Tormenta Dalys, Zeuxis
Dalys replaced Chik Tormenta (who was there but not allowed to wrestle on the show.)
3) Puma b Hombre Bala Jr., Stigma, Súper Halcón Jr., Tiger, Exterminador, Gallo, Joker, Omar Brunetti, Ráfaga [cibernetico]
Listed on the poster as random sides, listed in the recap as DF vs GDL. Puma beat Gallo for the win with a casita. Puma wins a title shot next weight for his weight division (which is apparently Light Heavyweight.)
4) Rey Bucanero © b Diamante Azul [NWA LH]
Seconds were Exterminador and Brazo de Plata (otherwise not on the card?) Diamante Azul is previous champion, having left (walked out?) of the promotion last fall and CMLL stripping him of the title before his return a week ago. Bucanero took falls 2/3 to keep the title, using a mask pull to win. Bucanero’s first defense.
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Naito b Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
Ingobernables took falls 1/3, Mascara submitting Ultimo Guerrero.

I’m not sure what purpose there is in “Rey Bucanero, singles champion in 2015”, but it’s a pleasant surprise to not see Diamante Azul get the rocket push after coming back (and not being very good to begin with, and still getting protected, and I need to end this before I make this worse.)

If Exterminador is light heavyweight champion, why was he in a match to get a title shot in his division? Why did Brazo de Plata take an eight hour bus trip to Guadalajara without a match???

FULL (THU) 06/18/2015 Carpa Astros, Tlalpan, Distrito Federal [Estrellas del Ring]
1) Saru & Shadow Boy b Fulgor & Pequeño Black Warrior
2) Marabunta Jr. b Charly Madrid, Ángel Del Amor [Copa Novato, final]
Said to be a bad match with blown spots.
3) El Hijo del Medico Asesino & Relámpago b Yuriko & Zumbido [Relevos Increíbles, FULL CHAMP, tournament]
Asesino & Relampago will face off for the title on the 07/02 show.
4) Solar I © b Negro Navarro [FLLM MASTER]
Usual good match.
5) Groon XXX & Pirata Morgan b Silver King & Tinieblas Jr. and Anibal & Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]
Anibal & Wagner were counted out, then the other two teams fell apart. Tinieblas caused Silver King to be eliminated, and Silver King cost Tinieblas the match.

FULL is booking a Tinieblas/Silver King program, has Medico Aseisno & Relampago deciding it’s heavyweight title and Marabunta Jr. is the best youngster they can find. OK.

CMLL’s preview of tonight’s Arena Mexico show hypes the Revolucionarios versus Guerreros and Ingobernables versus TGR. We’re getting to the point where someone has to start teasing a cage match for June or July, or it begins to look like the Anniversary main event. If you figure CMLL will not run a major show after late July to space it out from the Anniversary show. It usually takes 3-4 weeks from challenges to the match happening, which means those challenges need to start happening soon. They have thrown out singles challenges, but not group versus group.

The En Busca de un Idolo has Guerrero Maya & Disturbio and Delta & Esfinge. Disturbio needs to a get judging night tonight, because he’s unlikely to do a better number than against Maya.

CMLL also posted the preview for Saturady as part of an interview with Marcela with her title match. She’d like to face Dark Angel! but she’s not going to face Dark Angel.

AAA posted the Mascara 2000 Jr. mystery admirer vignettes. That link is to where it was posted on Facebook, and you’ll notice most the commentators also think it’s Pimpi or Mamba because it’s an exotico every time this happens. This whole thing remains bizarre. They’ve spent more time on Mascara 2000 Jr.’s mystery admirer than Mesias’ rudo turn or the Alas de Oro tournament. Mascara is back on a TV taping for the first time in exactly a year on July 3rd, so maybe that’s when the mystery will be resolved. Maybe sooner – maybe this whole mystery is tied to the mystery luchadora who’s debut on the next TV show in Orizaba? (It’s more likely just a story line simply to amuse the participants, but I like to hope for a reason.)

Mr. Jack says aerial lucha libre and extreme lucha libre are bad and Leyendas Inmortales is going to bring back traditional lucha libre. I can not think of a less likely promotion to change anything in lucha libre than Leyendas Inmortales. This is a promo so you say what you want people to believe and not what you actually believe, but you have to be grounded in at least a little reality to make a promo work. Mr. Jack is totally delusional. I would enjoy the character the 40+ luchador who just went “yea, I’m not much good any more, but I really like people cheering for me and the little bit of extra money I make, so I’m going to keep on wrestling until they stop booking me.” It would be a interesting different character than the dozens of “cranky old guy who believes everything now sucks” luchador characters running around.

Not that lucha extreme is necessarily good. Apolo Valdes has a column saying it’s not really lucha libre, even though it can be very entertaining.  MedioTiempo also has an article on a lucha libre themed promotion in Australia.

Bengala was announced for NOAH’s GHC Junior Heavywight league tournament. It’s listed as Bengala’s debut in the tournament. Fellow Mexican Ricky Marvin was in the tournament for many years. I’m surprised the Lucha World Cup didn’t lead to more AAA guys going over. The tournament runs from 07/18 to 08/05, and Bengala is currently announced for any show that far in the future. Super Crazy is in the tournament as well.

Lineups

Colosos del Ring (SAT) 07/04/2015 Arena Neza
1) Goya Kong & Lluvia vs Big Mama & Zeuxis
2) Magnetico & Seiya vs Luis Cirio & Tony Cirio
3) Disturbio, Metálico, Soberano Jr. vs Ángel de la Noche, Jhon Crazy, Motocross
4) Negro Casas, Puma, Tiger vs Hijo Del Villano III, Villano III Jr., Villano V Jr.
5) Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Canek, Máscara Año 2000, Thunder (CMLL)
6) Gallo Tapado Jr. vs Rey Guerrero, Inquisidor, Lince Dorado, Fugaz, Flyer, Bengala, Sensei, Artillero, Principe Odin Jr. [cage, hair]

Lots of prelim guys and random people in this cage match. Lince Dorado is not the ex-CHIKARA wrestler, but a Mexican luchador who took the name soon after the US guy started. The most famous Fugaz is now Nitro, but there’s been guys in Mexico State and Xalapa using the name for the last few years. Principe Odin Jr. is the lesser known brother of Bengala, Artillero and Super Comando. There’s a Rey Guerrero in Chihuahua, but I bet this is a random guy from DF and he’s the most likely loser.

This appears to be a new Villano V Jr. (not Kortiz or Kaving) on the poster.
