Recapped: 05/19/2015
Weeks with the Space Cadets are good weeks.
Previously: Fantasma advanced. A trios match was made, and Cage challenged Alberto to a title match.
Match 1: Dinastía, Ludxor, Venum vs Apache, Carta Brava Jr., Mini Psycho Clown

Winner: rudos (Mini Psycho Clown twist senton con giro Dinastia)

Notes: Ludxor (black and red) and Venom (blue and pink) have new outfits. Mini Psycho challenged for a title match, then beat up Dinastía after the match. Maya is referee.
Review: fun trios match between two well matches teams. The Apache/Carta/Ludxor/Venom continue to get better against each other – they’re not close to feeling repetitive – and Dinastía & Mini Psycho are perfect third wheels. Carta & Apache had more combo spots than before. Dinastía was locked in and doing all of his tricky moves without problem. Ludxor struggled a little bit at times, but Venom continues to look great. I would’ve liked to see more time or more of a finishing sequence but wouldn’t argue with people rating this higher.
Texano and Fantasma are happy about Fantasma’s win when they’re interrupted by Mascara Año 2000 Junior! He still exists! He’s got a gift, which none of them know anything about.
Probably only for YouTube and UTDN: a repeat of last week’s qualifier.
Match 2: La Parka vs Texano Jr., Cibernético [Copa Victoria Mexico Team 2 Selection]

Notes: Tirantes is ref. Cibernético stopped an early Texano pin, claiming he wanted to hurt Parka more, but then later tried to get the pin himself. Parka made a comeback about 90 seconds in, laying out Texano with a tope and turning the match into a one on on with Cibernético, and then with Texano. Fantasma wandered out and helped when Texano was in control. Parka got the lasso and took control, but Fantasma turned it around and all three rudos stomped Parka. Tirantes supposed this. Parka made one comeback, but Texano snuck in a foul for the win. Sneaking seemed unnecessary.
Review: [ok] nothing Parka handicap match – he gets beat up, he does some weak offense, repeat every two minutes until there’s a finish. They teased Texano/Cibernetico issues but never went anywhere with it. Fantasma interfering to make it one on four (Tirantes too) seemed like overkill, but it’s also usual with Cibernético & Parka.
A five minute segment on the Lucha World Cup aired here, with Dorian Roldan explaining the structure. The AAA México Team 2 does promos, with Psycho Clown revealed as being a member. Johnny Mundo does a Spanish language /rudo promo for his team
Match 3: Fénix & Myzteziz vs Joe Lider & Pentagón Jr.

Notes: técnicos made belt motions before the match starts and after the win. Maya is referee.
Review: [ok] This match had Myzteziz digging staples out of his skin, so that’s something. He ended up bleeding enough that they stopped the match to fix it, and that contributed to the match dragging at times. Joe Lider is obviously always hurt, but started limping for no obvious reason in the middle of the match and wasn’t moving great the whole way. Myzteziz is better at reacting and building up spots than most here; he got more out of the revenge stapling than just about every other time they’ve done it. The parts with Pentagon were more enjoyable than the parts with Joe Lider, in no surprise, but match never felt like it had a great rhythm to it. Fenix and Myzteyz made it very clear they wanted the tag belts but didn’t feel as much like a tag team here as in their other matches together.
