Review: [ok] Normal boring opener match with Bengala looking professional and the rest looking present, barely. We don’t get to see much Cholo with Terra gone, but he remains the same guy without the mask. He showed a lot of energy, at least. Espanto Jr. seems to have decided he’ll get ahead if he becomes the 28th person in this promotion to use backcrackers and corner strikes. Good luck with that. Finishing stretch seemed well done.

Pequeno Olimpico probably thought he had more apron

Mercurio reacts appropriately

Review: [ok] First fall had the opening matwork, a beatdown and a comeback, so this clearly wasn’t going three falls and wasn’t going long. It’s too bad because the combination seemed to be working. A lot of that may have been Stukita, who’s a joy to watch and had some mat exchanges with Pequeño Olímpico. Shockercito and Pequeño Mercurio started a feud while only barely touching, but it seems like it’ll work. Eléctrico was okay wrestling but his act seems so off in this division.

Review: [ok] a good looking list of names, but it never clicked into a good match for me. They weren’t quite just running thru the motions either, but it didn’t feel special in the work. The match had some of the twists usually only seen in Blue Panther Sr. matches, so either dad helped put together the match or the sons were paying attention. Canelo Casas, wrestling with bigger stars than usual, still looked pretty much like normal. Some of his offense looked better because he had The Panther taking it, but he was in the wrong place when it was his turn to take Panther’s springboard armdrag. Blue Panther and Tiger did three backbreakers in a row in the first fall, and I’m not sure a single one of them landed right. Blue Panther Jr. also fell down when he was supposed to take a Tiger superkick late; Blue Panther Jr. probably should be in the same matches as Canelo Casas as this point.

Match Time: 9:59
Rating: ok

Review: [ok] Invasors worked well as a trio and got in a lot of offense during the second fall, but this was mostly the usual Super Porky show with all the spots form every match. Maximo’s going to do the kiss gun spot in every match.

Kraneo great, don’t miss Morphosis running
Zacarias lives the life

he actually got him up!

Review: [good] There is a tremendous promise in the first fall of this match, an eight minute mostly mat work battle, a purposeful throw back to two decades prior. It’s excellently done and seems a strong start to an easily great match. Until the next fall turns out to be only a minute, and the last only three. There’s been a lot of good work done in short CMLL matches the last few years and they tried in the time they had to work, but this one was so deflating. There’s been plenty of matches with two short falls to start and one long one to end, but those can make the claim of building to a climax. This was a super build with not much to follow. If they could only handle doing twelve minutes, they really should’ve done one fall – it’s really the promise of more like the first fall and inability to deliver which is the problem here. This feels like a match that should be on the outer reaches of a MOTYC list, but it’s tough to recommend a match that disappoints in the end.

always love this spot

who did it better?

Match L: Titan vs Gran Guerrero
Arena México, 05/05/2015

Winner: Titan by DQ (Gran Guerrero mask removal)
Match Time: 6:21
Rating: ok

Review: [ok] Eh. Gran Guerrero is not a great opponent for Titan (his powerbomb on the springboard looked unsafe) and the match felt like it was just starting to get to the end game when Gran Guerrero took off Titan’s mask for no particularly good reason. There are many more useful Titan matches and better Gran Guerrero ones too. Titan’s split mask looked cool.
