Syuri © vs Marcela for the CMLL World Women’s Championship: [good] Crowd reacted very strongly to the match, but it didn’t come thru as strong on TV and just barely made it to the good level for me. TV editing probably didn’t help, with the match being cut down to about 10 minutes of what was clearly something longer. Syuri is hit or miss, very literally – sometimes it seemed like she’s leaving great distances on her kicks, sometimes it looks like she’s going for the knockout. Marcela botched a spot pretty notciably in a big match, which is strange for her. She’s cut down what she’s doing in this matches (and the TV cuts it down more) and this was more just the highlights of a better match. Syuri working ruda helped the crowd get into it and the last few minutes were dramatic despite the crowd really not having much idea of what moves were supposed to be the important ones (and Syuri didn’t seem to go back to the cross armbreaker.) Kamaitachi was an enthusiastic corner man.

La Sombra, Marco Corleone, Máximo vs Rey Escorpión, Thunder, Último Guerrero: [ok] the Rey Escorpion/Ultimo Guerrero angle ended up being the big focus after the match but came out of nowhere during the match. That was probably the intention, but it was also a bit random. Match itself seemed built around Marco vs Thunder, where Marco trusted Thunder to catch his dive more than I would. Rey Escorpion/Sombra was very good, as long as not having a técnico is not a problem. Máximo had a great tope.
Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Bárbaro Cavernario, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas: [ok] there were some really good moments and some moments sloppy ones. No idea why anyone thought it’d be a good idea to have Mr. Niebla catch Mistico’s tough high flying headscissors in the second fall, but he could not do it and Místico got dumped on his head. He seemed shook up from it. Cavernario looked awesome early, but seemed to reinjure his knee on his springboard splash and that might have contributed to him and Místico completely botching the La Mistica. Crowd hated seeing the spot coming. The rudos beating up the técnicos and the Sky Team comeback in the third fall worked well, match just had some very obvious flaws.
Titan vs Polvora in a lightning match: [good] Titan destroying himself for a six minute match that I forget even aired is probably not the way to go, but he’s Titan and that’s what he does. Titan seemed pretty banged up by the end of the match, left neither man moving for a while. They got as much out of six and half minutes as they could before it, though the finish itself came very abruptly and followed Pólvora not selling a headscissors, so things were clearly going wrong. Maybe a few less crashes in to the barricade would be in order.
