Acero & Aéreo vs Pequeño Olímpico & Pequeño Universo 2000: [ok] A library match, because there it was so quiet. You could hear everyone noise the guys in the ring made because no one else was making any. Camera people seemed much more excited by showing people in the crowd between falls. One of the CMLL openers that doesn’t fail in execution of moves, but fails in not executing much that people care about. Acero’s new outfit makes him look like Mini Metatron. That’s a bad way to go. Aereo looked like the best guy here.
Magnus, Robin, Sensei vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Hijo del Signo, Nitro: [ok] Magnus looked very good. Everyone tried for at least one fall here. Nitro and Robin’s had a couple fun exchanges in the third fall. The match eventually came to an end. Sensei did not hurt himself on any of the dozen bicycle kicks he did. These are the good things I could think to say.
Hombre Bala Jr., Soberano Jr., Súper Halcón Jr. vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Sangre Azteca: [ok] disappointing for a Soberano/Bala match. It was a lot of Sangre Azteca action and Raziel & Cancerbero are exactly bringing their A game of late. The story telling was better than the work, with Soberano pulling a rare surprise pinfall outside of a Panther match and everyone actually playing off that a little bit in the third fall. Like all these matches, the third fall is much energetic than the two which preceded it, kind of making the case that having three falls is dumb.
Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., The Panther vs Misterioso Jr., Pierroth, Sagrado: [ok] a silly nothing match which didn’t last long, didn’t do much while it was here, and didn’t finish well. It didn’t really make any sense for Sagrado to come back in for the DQ, when he did or at any time, but that he did because reasons. Choking someone with food would seem to be a DQ, but not here.
Atlantis, Dragon Lee, La Máscara vs Kamaitachi, Rey Bucanero, Terrible: [ok] Teaming up the three winners and three losers from H2L would’ve been a nice hook for a match, but this is just random placement of the Dragon Lee/Kamaitachi feud with the new faction. Rudos were nice enough to let in Kamaitachi get in all of his big moves, and Kamaitachi broke out the Young Lion Boston Crab in the third. Terrible/Dragon were good in the third fall, then Terrible did a fake knockout spot in the third fall. It’s so wrestling that the only thing that will come from Perro Aguayo Jr. death is people mimicking his death for heat. Dragon Lee appears to be suffering from the same never healing thigh injury as Dragon Rojo. Maybe it’s endemic to Dragons?
Fuego vs Virus in a lightning match: Blurb: [good] Virus is in a bit of a slump record wise but not quality wise. This was a usual lightning match from him, which is a level better than the usual lightning match from everyone. Virus gets Fuego to do more mat work than usual, and Fuego was inspired enough to break out a different plancha after his usual run of offense. Fuego’s Flashina cradle is unbreakerable even for the Pequeño Maestro.
