CMLL (FRI) 05/22/2015 Arena México [CMLL, R de Rudo, Terra]
1) Demus 3:16 & Pequeño Violencia b Shockercito & Último Dragoncito
Ultimo Dragonctio took the stretcher ride after the Demus Driver.
2) Pegasso, Stigma, Tritón b Artillero, Disturbio, Súper Comando
3) Amapola, Dalys, La Seductora b Goya Kong, Lluvia, Silueta
Rudos took 2/3. Silueta’s head bounced off the mat badly from a Dalys powerbomb at the end of the match, and she needed medical aid.
4) Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión b Gran Guerrero, Mephisto, Niebla Roja
Straight falls for Los Revolucionarios
5) Negro Casas b Dragon Lee [Leyenda de Plata, final]
Casas took falls 1/3 to retain the title. He’s now a 3 time champion, matching Mistico I for the record. Casas saluted Dragon Lee for his quality even in the loss.
6) Euforia, Thunder, Último Guerrero b Marco Corleone, Máximo, Volador Jr.
Marco & Thunder are still feuding.

Negro Casas was happy with his victory, saying he still enjoys measuring himself against the CMLL youth. This feels like the right outcome; Dragon Lee needs to have goals till to reach. There’s also an interview with Maximo, who has a billion ideas CMLL is not going to run.

Terra says they’ll be airing the En Busca de un Idolo tournament again this year. This will be the first matches they’ve shown since January. They’ll start coverage with the En Busca de un Idolo cibernetico on Tuesday. The article actually says the broadcast at 7pm, which would mean airing the entire first half of the show.

No Lucha World Cup matchups announced yesterday. That was the original plan when they announced the field. I’m not sure if that means they’ll announce it today, or if they just won’t announce it at all. I will remind you that you should purchase the iPPV ASAP if you plan on buying it, just in case they raise the price tomorrow.

Instead, it looks like most of the foreigners were in Mexico yesterday, doing copious interviews at the AAA office and going on TV studios to promote the press conference. The mainstream Mexico press appears to have bought into this World Cup concept, treating it like a important sporting contest. This is already a success for AAA on a marketing/branding level.

ESPN Deportes talked to Fantasma, Masasume and ACH, who declared Rey Mysterio was his favorite luchador but of course he and his team would beat them.

Dark Angel says she’s still on the 05/31 Arena Neza show and is working the Arena Coliseo show the night prior.

PWTorch has a breakdown of Lucha Underground ratings patterns on El Rey. (This does not include the larger Unimas numbers.) 62,000 people watch the show on audience, and they’ve reached 102,000 viewers for three episodes (Alberto’s first match, Alberto’s second match, trios tournament final). The audience has trended younger as the season has gone on, but the average number of viewers is still not a lot greater than reruns of old shows.

+LuchaTV has a lot of Chilanga Mask videos, including highlights of Aeroboy vs Caifan, Keira vs Silueta, Latin Dragon vs Psycho Kid, and Rey Horus vs Flamita. It looks like they have a new episode this weekend, as they’re promoting a sit down with Rey Mysterio.

Segunda Caida reviews Rey Hechicero vs Caifan from the LuchaMania show.

SuperLuchas looks back at Ring Fujinami vs El Solitario and Toscano vs Heavy Metal vs Perro Aguayo Jr.

Maldito Jr. hypes a mask match he’s in Saturday by saying he has no idea why the promoter booked him in this mask match.

The Gladiatores celebrates 9 years of publishing.

Tzuki is in the area today and I have tickets to be somewhere else.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 05/29/2015 Arena México
1) Leono & Soberano Jr. vs Espanto Jr. & Inquisidor
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Shockercito vs Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pequeño Violencia
3) Fuego vs Misterioso Jr. [lightning]
4) Ángel de Oro, Guerrero Maya Jr., Stuka Jr. vs Boby Zavala, Puma, Tiger
5) Gran Guerrero, Negro Casas, Niebla Roja vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
6) La Sombra, Naito, Rush vs Euforia, Thunder, Último Guerrero

Rush is back, so whatever happened this time is over already. Naito continues to team with the Ingobernables. Revolucionarios continue to fight other rudos, but not actually ultimo Guerrero. Fourth match looks fun. Minis match includes Shockercito and Mercurio, who had a feud on Tuesday’s that suddenly ended. Astral handles the video promo.

  1. Comments are closed in the LWC post. Posted my predictions in Fredo’s board yesterday… I got the brackets right!! :p

Basically, I think DT wins, all other 3 home teams lose, it would look bad for both Japanese teams to lose (unless they agree to job in the 1st round so no one looks to be over the other team, dunno). I could see Canek jumping in, or crawling in from the judges panel to the ring to low blow Wagner so that All Japan advances.

Although if TNA beats Leyendas in the semis, it would get a ton of heat, ROH beating them in the third place match would also get a ton of heat, but who knows if they’re intending to work with ROH (or with TNA), there’s always Cage and Mundo there to get the heat (and take the falls when needed).

The biggest news would be if the event is also aired on Univision -they got several options, heck, maybe even Univision Deportes, being like a 180 from LU in which is treated as a legit event, which fits the coverage it’s getting by the sports media in Mexico. Get it on Univision with English SAP and then start having the regular AAA show, also with SAP… on Lucha Lunes…

  2. Dream Team over ROH in the semis and then winning it all seem like a given.

The other bracket is more interesting. AJPW and RTW going over the in the second round would give each country a spot in the semis. Rest of the World winning would mean the Dream Team gets to beat everyone. ROH probably picks up third then?

Surprised by the first round pairings. Galloway pinning one of the TNA guys makes sense if there are politics there or Mesias over Mundo. I don’t know enough of the AJPW team to know how the interaction the Legends will go. Something screwy with Demon and him being rewarded with something at TripleMania seems like the most probable unless Solar is there to take the loss.
