Champs took falls 2/3 clean to keep the titles. Shocker & Casas’ 6th defense

That seems like they’re setting up Mercurio/Shockercito in a hair match sometime soon. Main event is said to be a good techinical match.

Lucha Underground

Today’s Lucha Underground episode is #26, “The Best in the Business.” The title comes from an Alberto, Mundo and Cueto segment that’s already up. (As chui noted, that segment is one hat away from accidentally referencing a luchablog injoke.) Matches on the show

  • Texano vs DelAvar Daivari
  • Son of Havoc & Angelico vs Mr. Cisco & Cortez Castro
  • Prince Puma & Hernandez vs Cage & King Cuerno
  • Alberto El Patron vs Johnny Mundo

DelAvar is the man in the crowd who attacked Texano. There’s a shorter clip of his meeting with Dario. There’s also a clip of Black Lotus’ continued training, and an extra on Johnny Mundo’s parkour skills.

Main event is a pivotal moment in this season. It’s also said to be very good.

Other News

No news on the remaining empty spots on the Lucha World Cup today. There’s six spots left to reveal (the other Mexico indy guy, the ROH team, the non-Galloway Rest of the World members.) I’ve heard educated rumors about all the spots, nothing strong enough to confirm names, but also nothing that would also be big news if revealed either. All “names that make sense but aren’t going to change your impression on the tournament one way or another.

There will be a male luchador dance show on Sunday’s show in Arena Mexico as part of Mother’s Day celebrations.

Esfinge was interviewed in Puebla about his debut in that arena. It reads as if he’s training under Ultimo Guerrero in Mexico City now. (Maybe that answers Alexis’ question?) Esfinge says he wants to be part of two big competitions which are coming up, doesn’t name either one.

Aerostar reveals he dreamed of being a football player or a rock star as a kid until fell in love with lucha. I can not imagine rock star Aerostar.

Black Terry Jr. has highlights of last week’s Gym Zeuz vs Gym IWRG match. Doesn’t look like that one’s going to air on TV.

+LuchaTV talked to Hijo de Dr. Wagner about his injury.

Enrique and Oscar recapped the AAA show in Aguascalientes.

Segunda Caida watches Damiancito el Guerrero vs Cicloncito Ramirez and and more random CMLL, is excited to see Pierroth.

SuperLuchas writes about the opening of Arena Poza Rica and an El Toreo show.

A story on lucha libre in Portland.

Lucha Libre in Japan

05/05 REINA: Princesa Sugehit b Narumiya [CMLL-REINA INTL] via La Mistica.
First defense. Unclear if she’s staying for more shows.

I’ve read the NJPW Best of Super Juniors is going to be announced tomorrow. I don’t see anything officially saying that, but it would make sense with NJPW’s tour ending earlier today. My original, way back in January, guess was Triton would end up in this year but that was thinking they’d bring back Cavernario at some other time. They haven’t brought back Cavernario, so maybe they were saving him fro this – but maybe Cavernario’s knee injury will put a wrench in those plans. Maybe it’ll just be only Mascara Dorada as the CMLL representative.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 05/12/2015 Arena México
1) Bengala & Leono vs Apocalipsis & Inquisidor
2) Fantasy, Shockercito, Stukita vs Mercurio, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia
3) Oro Jr., Pegasso, Stigma vs Boby Zavala, Sangre Azteca, Tiger
4) Ángel de Oro vs Ripper [lightning]
5) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Valiente vs Ephesto, Hechicero, Vangellys
6) Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible

TGR vs Ingobernables, sort of. Shockercito and Mercurio face off again in the segunda.

CMLL (TUE) 05/12/2015 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Magnum & Metatrón vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
2) Goya Kong, Lluvia, Silueta vs Amapola, Dalys, Reyna Isis
3) Esfinge & Gallo © vs Misterioso Jr. & Sagrado [OCCIDENTE TAG]
first defense for Gallo & Esfinge
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Super Porky vs Euforia, Kráneo, Thunder
5) Atlantis, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Mephisto, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

That semifinal is a weird combination of people. Tercera is both sets of secondary tag team champions with only the local titles on the line. Lluvia’s been working random spot shows but this is her first main CMLL show since February.

2 thoughts to “Casas & Shocker keep tag titles, Lucha Underground, Puebla”

  1. at least Dave won’t have to watch the male strippers on Terra this year.

  2. Maybe CMLL would not have had low rating on Televisa if they had kept airing their top matches from Friday instead of airing the meaningless matches only. Combine that with ridiculously long commercial breaks and guess what, people won’t want to watch.
