06/01 AAA TV Lineup (Nuevo Laredo)

AAA TV (MON) 06/01/2015 Polyforum La Fe, Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas
1) El Elegido, Faby Apache, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Parka Negra, Taya Valkyrie
2) Angélico, Jack Evans, Laredo Kid vs Dark Cuervo, Dark Scoria, Mocho Cota Jr.
3) Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs El Mesías, Electroshock, Pentagón Jr.
4) Blue Demon Jr., La Parka, Myzteziz vs Averno, Chessman, Cibernético
5) El Patrón Alberto & Fénix vs Brian Cage & Texano Jr.

Air Date: 06/13.

Almost the exact same talent list as the show two days prior, with only locals Laredo Kid & Mocho Cota different. This card was posted by Cantu promotions, who uses those two regularly on their Nuevo Laredo AAA shows. This would be Laredo Kid’s first TV appearance since 2011; he’d been in AAA for about six years but was allegedly fired for working on a show across the border with CMLL wrestlers. This probably doesn’t tell us a lot about Laredo’s status with WWE, since AAA also have used Eita and Flamita when they were imminently headed to other places.

Mocho Cota Jr. is believed to be ex-Tigre Cota (it’s his picture they’re using on local posters, neither he or Laredo is on this one) and was last in AAA as part of the Milicia in 2012, disappearing when they dropped that group. Like Laredo, his inclusion here is probably a deal thru the local promoters.

Alberto/Cage didn’t happen in Reynosa, did happen here. Hellbrothers were split among two matches on last week’s show, are together here. Opener is exactly the same people, and the segunda is only changed by those locals being included. Both shows appear to be one week tapings, and maybe they’ll try to mix it up a bit by choosing a unaired match for each show.

The current schedule would mean Verano de Escandalo would air within five days of taking place, which is quicker than usual for a major show of late. Maybe something with the World Cup bumps everything back a little bit, maybe a unlisted dark match ends up on TV to stretch one of these shows a second week

Next taping is unofficially 06/15 in Monterrey, if Copetes can be trusted.

Super Mega wants a rematch for one of Epydemius’ title.

Impulso’s birthday. Arez suffered a knee injury, was stretchered out after the match. Good match. Belial wants matches with Keira and Black Terry.
6) Black Terry b Juana La Loca
good match
7) Solar I b Aero Boy
Solar had to go deep into the vault of moves to defeat Aeroboy, and gave him credit for his quality in post match.

attendance doesn’t seem as strong as previous shows; maybe too many in a short time or a weaker lineup this time around.

IWRG (SUN) 04/26/2015 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Atomic Star b Magnum 44
No Alfa or Omega, so the scheduled partners faced each other. Atomic won in straight falls.
2) Diosa Atenea & Dowki b Lady Maravilla & Yakuza
Diosa Atenea made her debut, replaced Vanely.
3) Dr. Cerebro, Golden Magic, Hijo de Mascara Sagrada b Imposible, Rayan, Spector
Dr. Cerbero replaced Freyser and fought Imposible well.
4) Black Terry, Chicano, Veneno b Canis Lupus, Eterno, Hijo del Fishman
Black Terry replaced X-Fly. Eterno was annoyed, since he wanted revenge on X-Fly , and took it out on Terry. Tecnicos took 1/3 anyway.
5) Ricky Cruz © b Pirata Morgan [IWRG Rey del Ring]
Cruz took 1/3 to beat Pirata, submitting him in a anklelock for the win. First defense.

Should air tonight on AYM. Busy day for Black Terry.

Pagano won a multiman hardcore match in the main event of hte Ichiban show. Marcela beat Ludark in the semimain of a three match show that was part of a bigger festival.

Casandro, who suffered a minor stroke which led to a minor car accident last week, wrestled this past Sunday anyway in El Paso. (Casandro won the main event trios.) Magno’s NWA championship was announced as vacant, with the post match challenges hinting at a Hijo del Impostor/Boby Zavala title match.

There are reports Rudy Reyna has passed away. I haven’t seen an article on it yet

Legend Lucha Libre announced they’d be running a Fan Fest on May 23rd. That’s the evening of the DragonMania show and the night before the Lucha World Cup.

Segunda Caida recaps the Fire in the Cosmos Lucha Underground episode.

+LuchaTV has this week’s Leyendas Inmortales, which turns out to be the second episode which aired last week. I didn’t get anything this week – it disappeared from the schedule so my TiVo just didn’t record anything.

Super Libre interviews Flash & Magnum. Magnum acknowledged he’s one of the Arena Coliseo Guadalajara programmers, and says he’s unsure if CMLL DF wrestlers will be back on Sunday shows.

Long interview with Guatemalan luchador Zohar.

Mosco Negro talks up his match on the 05/08 Crash show.

2) Capitan Cobra & Mr. Apolo vs Mercenario & Mr. Brisa

5) El Cuatrero, Joker, Sansón vs Furia Roja, Mr. Trueno, Rey Trueno [OCCIDENTE TRIOS, tournament]
may not actually turn out to be the main event

On Super Libre, Magnum explained that even though a match is listed at the top of the poster, where the main event has been listed for decardes, that doesn’t mean it’s the main event. Because reasons. At any rate, this match could actually be the main event this time because this seems like it might be the final in a strange five team tournament. Either that, or they’re doing league style and haven’t told anyone. Magnum also indicated unhappiness with the guys working the first few matches, which is probably why there’s a bunch of new guys working the opening matches.

Maybe Magnum should have checked with his son to see if he was already booked elsewhere?

New trios champions, Marco wins on heavily attended Arena Mexico Anniversary show

CMLL (SUN) 04/26/2015 Arena México [CMLL]
Arena Mexico 59th Anniversary
1) Molotov & Sensei b Apocalipsis & Cholo
2) Acero, Fantasy, Shockercito b Mercurio, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia
Pequeno Violencia’s return from a knee injury (the third time it’s been advertised)
3) Nitro, Okumura, Virus b Pegasso, Stigma, Stuka Jr.
Okumura replaced Arkangel on Monday
4) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas © [MEX TRIOS]
Tecnicos took falls 2/3 to win the titles for the 3rd time as a team (Atlantis’ fourth time overall.) Peste Negra falls on their fourth defense.
5) Marco Corleone b La Sombra, Pólvora, Bárbaro Cavernario, Dragon Lee, Kamaitachi, La Máscara, Ripper, Titán, Morphosis [cibernetico]
Polvora replaced Mr. Aguila on Monday. Battle royal set teams. Order of elimination: Dragon Lee (Kamitachi), Morphosis (Barbaro Cavernario), Kamiatachi (La Mascara), Ripper (Titan), Titan & La Mascara DDQ, Polvora (Sombra), Barbaro (Marco Corleone), Sombra (Marco Corleone) leaving Marco as the winner

Huge crowd, the kind of show where CMLL cameraman are allowed to pan around the building (so they can use the footage for all the other shows.) 10K easy, maybe 13K? I dunno. It’s a huge number.

I kept thinking Marco won Reyes del Aire, which would’ve been great, only this is just another random cibernetico on a week where they’re running another big cibernetico because no one really plans these things too well. Hooray for Marco. Hooray for the new trios champs, who may have been in the right place at the right time when CMLL wanted to get the titles off another team at least two times now.

There’s no reported tension between Marco & Sombra over the result, but it seems like something to watch.

CMLL’s Facebook picked the five biggest Arena Mexico Anniversary matches:
5: April 22, 1966 – Mil Mascaras vs Benny Galant in mask vs hair.
4: April 19, 1996 – Rambo vs Humberto Garza in hair vs hair.
3: April 26, 1974 – Rene Guajardo & Tigre Colombiano vs Anibal & Steve Wright in hair/mask vs hair/mask
2: April 29, 1988 – Kung Fu vs Kato Kung Lee, mask vs hair.
1: April 26, 1968 – Huracan Ramirez vs El Enfermero, mask vs mask
Extra: April 23, 1976 – Fishman vs El Faraon, mask vs mask

Not sure how they got six. Should be concerning that there’s not an entrant in this list from the last 20 years (though much of that is all the Mistico I main events no longer existing.) SuperLuchas has more detailed articles about the 1970 show and the 1963 one that don’t even make the list.

No Saturday show due to boxing.

LA Park says he’s not working the Lucha World Cup.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and the newest edition of the podcast with no singing.

AAA posted their show for this week. I hear it’s a strong show for Hijo del Tirantes fans.

The Last Real Heels interviewed Eric Van Wagenen, Lucha Underground executive producer. I haven’t listened to it yet but I’m sure it’s good.

Fuerza Guerrera and Lady Apache talk about the Octagon situation, vaguely or not so. Fuerza blames AAA, Lady Apache says luchador (and luchadoras) need to look out for themselves better.

Segunda Caida watched Black Terry vs Psycho Kid.

Cronicas y Leyendas looks back at UWA champion El Dandy, circa 1987

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 05/03/2015 Arena México
1) Leono & Sensei vs Akuma & Inquisidor
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Oro Jr., Súper Halcón Jr. vs Artillero, Cholo, Súper Comando
3) Esfinge, Starman, Stigma vs Cancerbero, Okumura, Sangre Azteca
4) Delta, Fuego, Valiente vs Luciferno, Ripper, Vangellys
5) Titán © vs Bárbaro Cavernario [MEX WELTER]
Titan’s 8th defense, second straight against the caveman
6) La Sombra, Marco Corleone, Rush vs Mr. Niebla, Shocker, Thunder

I have no idea why this match is happening here – they actually seemed to be building towards it in Puebla instead – but not complaining (except for fretting over the ClaroSports feed being down forever and having no sure way of getting this.) Titan and Cavernario didn’t even eliminate each other in the cibernetico. It should be La Mascara vs Titan, but no one’s complaining about missing that.

Marco teaming with Sombra (and Rush) one week after beating Sombra is interesting. CMLL doing interesting things on Sundays about a month in front of AAA’s World Cup on a Sunday is interesting. Would they do a cage match with just about everyone in that match plus a few extras as counter programming? Would they just do a Morphosis main event? Who can say.

I’ll post the Guadalajara lineup tomorrow because who cares, but Esfinge is booked on both shows. GOOD WORK.

Chilanga Mask (SAT) 05/30/2015 Gimnasio GFL, San Mateo Atenco, Estado de México
1) Casanova vs Meteoro, Puereza Guerrera
2) Alas de Acero & Aramis vs Dragon De Fuego & Resplandor Negro
3) Arez, Belial, Impulso vs Iron Kid, Principe Pantera, Voltail
4) Fulgor I © vs Psycko Kid, Astro Rey Jr. [MEX WELTER]
5) Black Terry & El Resplandor vs Boomerang & Negro Navarro
6) Trauma I & Trauma II vs Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II

Another Chilanga Mask card, though this is more the style of the Arena Coliseo San Ramon shows – some of the regulars and a lot of locals. Probably mostly Gemelo trainees.

05/30 AAA TV Lineup (Reynosa)

AAA (SAT) 05/30/2015 Parque Adolfo Lopez Mateos, Reynosa, Tamaulipas
1) El Elegido, Faby Apache, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Parka Negra, Taya Valkyrie
2) Angélico & Jack Evans vs Dark Cuervo & Dark Scoria
3) Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Brian Cage, Pentagón Jr., Texano Jr.
4) Blue Demon Jr., Fénix, Myzteziz vs Averno, Chessman, Electroshock
5) El Patrón Alberto & La Parka vs Cibernético & El Mesías

Air Date: 06/06 – opener looks to be internet only. First one taping show since January.

AAA’s TV announced this show and a Nuevo Laredo 06/01 taping this evening. KrisZ found the lineup, and RobViper points out the other show is likely to be about the same. That may explain why Cage isn’t facing Alberto on this show, the first time that’s happened since he’s been in, since that’ll be the hook on the other one. First tapings in these towns since the early 2000s.

Parque Adolfo Lopez Mateos is a baseball stadium. It’s got a 7,000 capacity for baseball, who knows for lucha libre.

Important note: AAA promoted their next four TV tapings in their upcoming TV schedule without mentioning the World Cup. I haven’t watched the entire show and am unsure if it was mentioned elsewhere, but it doesn’t appear to be a conventional TV taping. That’s a surprising choice. I assume it’s still got a very good chance of being on iPPV, but it may affect how they book the show: is there a point to running a big angle to set up a TripleMania match if it’s not going to air on TV? (Maybe there is, if you’re running TripleMania in the same venue.)

(It’s also here where we have to note this show is not 100% guarantee to take place given the violence in Reynosa and maybe having a World Cup show to air might just be a solid backup plan. I hope it goes well, but probably good to have options.)

Not a lot to say about this taping. Cuervo & Scoria face again Angelico & Jack, and will probably face again at Verano de Escandalo in some sort of stipulation match. Cage/Alberto and Psycho/Texano look like likely matches as well.
