Guadalajara results, AULL taping, Santo’s plans

CMLL (FRI) 04/17/2015 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Cuatrero, Jocker, Sansón b Frezzer, Metatrón, Reycko [OCCIDENTE TRIOS, tournament]
First match in tournament, no known brackets or format. Scheduled as the semimain, listed as the opener on the recap?
2) Forastero, Hijo del Calavera, Magnum b Dragol, Évola, Exterminador
Billed as tercera, listed in recap as 2nd? Dragol debuted, replacing Furia Roja. Magnum led the tecnicos to a 1/3 fall win.
3) Mr. Trueno, Ráfaga, Rey Trueno b Linterna Verde Jr., Nube Roja, Toro Negro
originally the opener. Toro Negro has changed sides since the last time he was here.
4) Gran Eku, Pitbull I, Pitbull II b Flash I, Flash II, Pepe Aguayo
Originally the second match. Rudos jumped the tecnicos. Tecnicos took 2/3, the last after Kenut & Flash I accidentally swapped masks and the rudo attacked their partner.
5) Virgo b Demonio Maya © [OCCIDENTE MIDDLE]
Only match not to move around. Virgo took 2/3, the last with a moonsault, to win the title. Maya’s falls on first defense. Five straight matches for this title here have ended in a title change.

I don’t know what’s going on here, but I know I’ve never seen a CMLL card order changed like that. Maybe the recap was posted wrong. (Maybe I really just need to stop thinking of them as CMLL cards, even though they’re still posted on CMLL’s site.) The order they ended up with is a strict order by experience outside of the title match.

AULL (SUN) 04/19/2015 Arena Lopez Mateos[Estrellas del Ring, Mano a Mano]
1) Sky Fly & Super Terry b Rey Inmortal & Rey Profeta
2) Holkan © b Ironía [AULL Light]
Holkan’s first defense. He won the title back in 2013. Ironia had a lot of fan support.
3) Yakuza b Ángel Del Amor © [AULL WELTER]
New champion. Angel del Amor’s falls on first defense.
4) Terry 2000 b Leviatham © [AULL LH]
New champion. Leviatham’s falls on first defense.
5) Herejía © b Judas el Traidor [AULL HEAVY]
Herejia’s first defense.
6) Samael & Tormento © b Decadente &Psicópata [AULL TAG]
Second defense (though Epitafio filled in for Samael on the first one) Someone controversy on the finish with bad refereeing, and the challengers wanted a masks vs masks match.
7) Gallego, Rocky Santana, Romano Garcia © b Dante, Euro, Filder [AULL TRIOS]
Diabolicos 3rd defense. Challengers (Los Incontenibles) were outnumbered when one suffered an injury on a knee injury – reports differ if it was Dante or Filder.

The Lucha Libre Boom/DTU combo show here on Saturday looked close to a full house. This looked close to an empty house. (See: titles don’t mean much digression from last night.) They were taping this, so it might be the first show to air on Efekto TV next weekend.

No IWRG results today, but the pictures are good.

I was a guest yesterday on Alan4L’s show, talking about everything we love about Lucha Underground. It’s a free show and a good time.

+LuchaTV has highlights of the CaraLucha second round tryouts in it’s Bestiario I contest. They did matches in an empty in San Juan Pantitlan. That seemed odd to me, but then that’s also what US indy Beyond Wrestling started out doing and I’d bet that inspired this idea. (Beyond had a plan to do something with those matches, though.)

Hijo del Santo continues to do interviews about lucha libre regulations. His end goal is a bit clearer in this one: the World Boxing Council already regulates combat sports beyond boxing (Muay Thai), so Santo would like to see the senate appoint the WBC in charge of regulating lucha libre. Which, of course, would mean WBC’s favorite wrestler Hijo del Santo would essentially become king of wrestling in Mexico. I thought Hijo del Santo wanted to influence the law, but WBC in charge would make him the law. There’s something admirable about this grasp for power. This would be so bad if it happened but it’d be a great movie plot.

Black Terry Jr. has highlights of Black Terry vs Paranoiko vs Rocky Santa vs Makabre vs Tony Rivera from the DTU/Boom show.

This week’s Fuego en el Ring and Super Libre are up.

LLF’s show Friday was promoted around Estrellita – who did not make the show. They did announce it about 3 hours ahead of time. Estrellita seems very busy with the dance show she’s on.
