Flyer, Oro Jr., Star Jr. vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Artillero, Súper Comando: [good] fun opener – that’s been rare on this show of late except for the minis. Star Jr. & Flyer worked well as a tag team, but this was even more the Super Comando & Artillero show. The Milica had all sort of double team spots to try and Arkangel helped where he could. Oro looked awkward at times, though not enough to really hurt the match. I’m not sure if the tag team moves and matching outfits mean Star Jr. has switched partners, hopefully it’s meant to be a trio and Soberano is still involved.
Dark Angel, Estrellita, Princesa Sugehit vs Amapola, La Comandante, Tiffany: [ok] eh women’s match which seemed to be a struggle in the last three minutes. Everything from Dark Angel and La Comandante working near falls to the finish looked very sloppy – kickouts were a problem. Match wasn’t anything super before than, and there’s nothing here to make Sugehit/Tiffany worth seeing. Not that you could actually see it here, since they built to the match they don’t actually show on TV.
Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Tritón vs Kamaitachi, Luciferno, Pólvora: [ok] Another match that was just a match. Kamaitachi/Triton seems like a fun idea but they were going at Tuesday speeds here. One of the frustrating things about delta is he pulls off the same moves in every match. It’s not just that he’s doing the same moves, because a lot of people try the same moves, but that those people try those moves and they just forever work for Delta. What I’m saying is I really need someone to turn the headscissors to the floor into a big powerbomb soon.
Fuego, La Máscara, Titán vs Kráneo, Negro Casas, Olímpico: [ok] another ordinary Tuesday level match. It’s noticable short too, only twelve minutes, but it didn’t seem like anything was going to develop with a bit more time. Olímpico in new Egyptian gear is still Olímpico. Negro Casas and Kraneo worked well together and Kraneo took big bumps for Titan during the match. It feels like the crowd is cheering for Mascara’s stripping act because they know that’s how they’re supposed to react, not that they care – definitely the woman they put on the TV was kind of just playing along. Amazing Mascara still hasn’t figure out how to pull the pants off in one tug after all these months.
Volador Jr. vs Último Guerrero: [good] maybe as high a recommendation as I’m going to give Ultimo Guerrero and Volador doing their usual matches at this point, which is really still not that high of a recommendation. It’s filled with the ticks that bug me, including a third fall simply of move kickout rest repeat. The drama there was Ultimo Guerrero kicking out of the usual big match finishers (Spanish Fly, top rope huracanrana) only to lose to the backcracker. Even prior to that, the match was filled with random changes of momentum and casual interest in selling. It sometimes produced some cool spots but it all took me out of a good match. It’s still a good match, but it’s a shame because Ultimo Guerrero threw himself into the physical portions of the match but they didn’t really throw themselves into the mental portions.
Ultimo Guerrero getting disqualified before he could finish the senton de la muerte and going right back to it to start the next fall is among the most Ultimo Guerrero moments ever. Moves must be checked off!
