CMLL on Fox Sports (Mexico): 2015-01-17

this is all they need to show to build up the mask match

taped 2015-01-09 @ Arena México

why are you laying there Pierroth

Ángel de Oro, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Misterioso Jr., Pierroth, Sagrado: [OK] CMLL production is just awful. I don’t know any other way to describe a match where they go to break as someone is doing their finish. This isn’t even live, they edit in the breaks in post production and could put them wherever they wanted, and they decided putting them right in the middle of a move that was going to end the fall anyway was the way to go. If I had been watching this live, I would have turned it off and gone to watch to do something. It’s almost intentionally horrible, as if they want to kill their own TV show.

Misterioso, still not good

Anyway, Comando Caribeno debut with a name here and promptly lose totally clean. That’s kind of fine with me and kind of makes me wonder why I should care about any of this.

Maya tope con giro ride
Dorada goes out spinning

Atlantis, Máscara Dorada, Máximo vs Mr. Águila, Rey Bucanero, Terrible: [ok] Mascara Dorada’s last match in CMLL for the time being and he worked it like completely normal (which means flying in and out of the ring when you’re here.) Máximo really was the star of the match, including his nice springboard dive. They’ve flipped a switch with TRT, from doing nothing with them to doing every random thing with them – you’d get the sense they were feuding with Máximo again from this match, though I’m not sure it was the case. The randomness of the finish and the shortness of the match made it hard for me to recommend this match but there were good spots while it lasted.

ropes like stairs
Dorada holds a strong record against gravity
power man Shocker

La Máscara, La Sombra, Marco Corleone vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Shocker: [ok] I’m so far behind in posting these that – whenever you read this – there was also a chance this was Mr. Niebla’s last Friday night match for CMLL too. He went out with another Peste Negra/Ingobernable match. A bit different for having Marco in it and punching Shocker in the face repeatedly, but one that’ll quickly blend in with the others. Both the second and third fall finishes were disconnected from the matches preceding them, both sides suddenly accelerating into big moves and near falls after a lot fooling around prior.

just walk away, Zac
Sombra folded in half
these gifs have talked me into wanting to see Sombra vs Shocker again
Sombra has had enough of the harrasment
Dragon Lee as javellin

Kamaitachi vs Dragon Lee [lightning]: [great] This was a war from the start, both guys fully into it and playing off each other perfectly. They did a lot of countering each other’s expected spots, with Kamaitachi frustrating Dragon Lee a few times, and already giving a feel of a long term feud. They were also both insane, with Dragon Lee in particular taking some crazy bumps even for him. Some of the stuff looked sloppy, but there was so much good stuff here that it’s an easy recommendation.

Dragon Lee boot to the face to Dragon Lee!
Dragon Lee’s head is just going to detach one day
Kamaitachi really regrets grabbing the ropes
