Caverman takes flight

Valiente vs Bárbaro Cavernario in a lightning match: [OK] better than average lightning match with a hurried finish; they got the nine minute warning and immediately went to it, as if they had lost track of time up to that point. It felt like they were just scratching the surface of what they could’ve done in this match even by taking up all that time (the first two of which were clipped up.) Valiente’s topes looked great, Barbaro Cavernario is a good target for those kind of things.

two straight Valiente topes; Cavernario lived

the finish

Atlantis, Máximo, Volador Jr. vs Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Terrible: [OK] Standard feud build up match, with Bucanero attacking Volador early (which the cameras miss), Bucanero running from Volador most of the match, and cheating him out of the win the same. There’s a sameness to much of CMLL – I’ve seen the same finish with Máximo, Atlantis and a rudo on many shows – and even when a match is well done, it’s fatiguing to keep seeing the same thing. This was professionally done without being very interesting.

Sombra double knee smash

La Máscara, La Sombra, Marco Corleone vs Shocker, Thunder, Último Guerrero: [OK] Ingobernables working as rudos against the rudos. That was good for everyone forearming Thunder in the face a billion times as if it was a hazing for all of Thunder’s crimes, and not good for a lot else. Otherwise, this was a lot the same as the last match, with Sombra as Rey Bucanero and Ultimo Guerrero as Volador, only UG didn’t need to obey the rules and could chase Sombra around whenever he wanted. The match came to a stop for a couple minute as Sombra stalled before coming in, but they did end up going longer than Volador and Bucanero.

unending forearms for Thunder
