caveman goes from taking a bump off the ropes into catching a dive position so fast

opening match team work

Metatrón & Robin vs Apocalipsis & Camorra: [below average] A match so boring and forgettable that no one noticed I had Akuma in here instead of Apocalipsis. Not even on YouTube, which is usually pretty strong on those things, but that’s because someone would have to watch it to know and there’s no reason to do that. I’m not sure if “Camorra isn’t even trying any more” is a possible sentence, but he isn’t bothering with the mohawk anymore. Second fall finishing bit was nice and Robin’s outfit looks nice.

Olimpico almost falls one way, falls hard the other way

Fantasy, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito: [GOOD] An energetic minis match with more twists in the final moments of each fall than usual. The action was good through the whole way and while there were a lot of the usual spots (Shockercito and Demus did the headscissors!) and the normal segunda limits, they shook things up enough to make this feel different. The veteran rudos are a good time and it’d be nice to get Pierrothito in a big match again at some point. Demus seems to be growing out his hair for some match that shows no sign of coming, and must look like a crazy wildman at all times.

Hombre Bala Jr., Pegasso, Súper Halcón Jr. vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Canelo Casas, Okumura: [OK] A match mildly built around Pegasso versus Okumura, so it was going to be a tough sell. Combinations of these two teams have faced each other so many times that they’re playing against the best way of doing this just to do change things up – so the Bala/Halcon tag work fails and Canelo’s doing dives, but it’s not like you really want Canelo Casas dives. Canelo Casas’ finisher looked worse than ever but at least it’s not another piledriver.

Kamaitaichi flying squirrel dropkick

Triton vs Kamaitachi: [OK] Slow starting match, as they did a couple minutes of mat work without actually doing much on the mat. It progressed into big moves from there, which seemed to flow better with Dragon Lee (who has a lot of big moves) than Triton (who has more complicated moves, if that distinction makes any sense.) It got better than just a lightning match but didn’t standout to me. A bit of a surprise Kamaitachi won. Kamaitachi’s offense being built around incredible dangerous dropkicks makes it a good healthy thing he won’t be Kamaitachi forever.

Ángel de Oro, Dragon Lee, Stuka Jr. vs Hombre sin Nombre, Sangre Azteca, Virus: [GOOD] Dragon Lee and Virus being really sharp together, especially in the third fall, pushed this match just over the line for me. There are other parts of this match that weren’t as good but it was generally a strong match. Those two are going to have a great title match. Zombie Azteca was a good look and looks great compared to the guy wresting in the generic black suit for months. There are many reasons I’d be a terrible professional wrestler, but a particular problem is I’d be going out of my way to screw up Angel de Oro’s sequence of moves at this point, just to force him not to do the same seven spots in a row.

be careful spinning of Dragon Lee

Hechicero takes flight

Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Bárbaro Cavernario, Hechicero, Mephisto: [GOOD] Good match that really could’ve used more time to really hit it out of the park. Just good news that this is the start of things. Maya and Cavernario feuded heavily and were such a great matchup, Cavernario playing off Maya as good as anyone here. Even just those two chasing each other around was a fun time. Hechiceoro and Cavernario also did excellent work stooging around for Atlantis too. Hechicero was Hechicero generally and Atlantis is much better than someone his age should be.
