CMLL on CadenaTres: 2014-11-15

recap

taped 2014-11-11 @ Arena México

Mercurio clears out Aereo

Acero & Aéreo vs Mercurio & Pequeño Universo 2000: [OK] They looked generally professional for the length is lasted, but this was just a practice run for some actual good match in the distant future. Not much time – unsure if they edited the first fall or if they just didn’t a lot for it. Pequeño Universo makes one wonder if you can have a finishing move if you only win falls about once a year. (You can’t if you keep changing it). Acero’s near finish in the third fall would’ve been really neat if there wasn’t a giant graphic in the way.

Oro springboard tope

Magnus, Oro Jr., Soberano Jr. vs Artillero, Hijo del Signo, Súper Comando: [GOOD] So fun. Nothing but the young guys doing moves, but that’s not seen a lot in CMLL and the young guys had actual plans to do their moves. Artillero & Super Comando went with them and it produced some good action. Magnus fits in much better in this mix than teaming with Robin or Sensei or whoever in openers; he got to team with guys who wanted to go and brought ideas on how they could fit their stuff together. Soberano looked the best out of everyone here, especially during the sequence on the outside with Super Comando with nifty escapes and headscissors. Signo was unusually coherent, though that wasn’t enough to reign in Oro’s finisher. They need to do this match every week.

Soberano 619 to the outside on Super Comando
teamwork!

Zeuxis double knee smash

Estrellita, Goya Kong, Lluvia vs Dalys, Tiffany, Zeuxis: [OK] Active for a women’s match and with a few memorable moments (Dalys randomly piledriving Lluvia, Estrellita getting a busted lip by taking the whip into the barricade badly) and Goya bringing energy. Finish makes no sense where they’re going (and they knew enough to do it the other way in the lightning match, so there are other factors here.) Someone’s got to have told Estrellita that her bridging cradle doesn’t look good. I understand she’s using so certain parts of her anatomy are showcased but there’s got to be a better way to get that same goal.

Dalys sit down piledriver, non injury causing version

Titan sends Polvora downstairs

Titan vs Pólvora: [GOOD] Interesting story of Pólvora having countering Titan spots – the ramp dive, whatever he was setting up with the small package -to build to the idea that Pólvora might be able to change things up this time. (And that we should expect a slightly different match on Sunday.) Announcers and post match promo even promoted Sunday’s match. This was like something a smart promotion would do. Action also was good and flew by for the time they had. You were left wanting more, which was the idea. Titan’s landing on his moonsault looked rough on both guys, though it was Pólvora who ended up cut.

Polvora finally moves out of the way!

Tiger almost knocked silly by stop sign

Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr., Super Porky vs Niebla Roja, Puma, Tiger: [OK] Rey Cometa’s face partially covered in blood is an unusual sight for a CMLL match. The rudos and Cometa made good use of the accident to create some drama. Either because of it or because it was the plan, this turned into a match focusing on Stuka and Cometa’s athleticism against the rudos, with Porky almost an after thought and they made good of it for the time they had. The end sequence of the first fall was amusing, though it required some people freezing in time for it to come together.

we all fall down

Kraneo is just leaving

Felino, Kráneo, Shocker vs Blue Panther, Diamante Azul, Dragón Rojo Jr.: [below average] Long textureless main event which existed and may or may not have set up a cage match down the line. Finish was underwhelming and the action prior to it was not a lot better. Dragon Rojo was woefully out of position on Felino’s dive. Diamante Azul doesn’t sell well but his no-selling isn’t good either. Zacarias seemed to wander off bored during this match and he was justified.

far too excited about this show
