Esfinge, Hombre Bala Jr., Súper Halcón Jr. vs Canelo Casas, Hijo del Signo, Metálico: [OK] Not a super interesting match, with a bleh group of rudos and the técnicos doing a shorter version of their usual match. Halcón & Bala really need a feud to keep things interesting but are at too low of a level to get into one. Esfinge seemed more confident. He also somehow escape the dive ban to get in a springboard moonsault.
Estrellita, Goya Kong, Princesa Sugehit vs La Seductora, Tiffany, Zeuxis: [OK] First fall was so boring that I went and took a nap instead of watching the rest. The rest of the usual Estrellita/Goya match. Seductora may want to get an outfit that doesn’t ride up all match, but that’s obviously the design. (It did seem smaller here.) Zeuxis spent a lot of this match being squashed by Goya for someone who ended it up challenging for a title.
Triton vs Raziel: [OK] Disappointingly generic lightning match which really didn’t maximize the talents of either guy. Triton was mostly grounded, spending most of the first half of the match falling on his back, and might still be battling the knee injury based on what he did (or didn’t do). We didn’t get to see Raziel do any great mat work or aggressive take over the match, he just did his finisher for a kickout for the dozen of us who know Raziel’s finish. Missed chance.
Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Stuka Jr. vs Ephesto, Hechicero, Vangellys: [OK] fine for where it was positioned but mostly the usual and unmmerable so. I’m pretty sure Maya & Hechicero could have a really good 40 minute match. There’s not that many people I’d like to see for forty minutes, but their exchanges here convinced me they would make the list. Important Ephesto developments: he’s getting so fat that his t-shirt is not covering up his stomach anymore, and he seems to becoming even better friends with Hechicero. Mephisto should be concerned.
Blue Panther, Dragón Rojo Jr., La Sombra vs Mephisto, Rey Bucanero, Terrible: [OK] Nothing main event, with a totally random Rey Bucanero/Blue Panther feud and Sombra doing the Ingobernable act (and doing a pescado as a dive.) Not the Blue Panther create falls, though eh was the first guy to expose a turnbuckle here in forever. The Bucanero/Panther stuff would’ve worked a lot better if this wasn’t day 1 of the feud and were weren’t expected to take it seriously so quick. Bucanero trying (and failing) at a Panther chant right before the finish was a pretty clear illustration on how little it was working. Dragon Rojo seemed to be here solely to see if he could get thru a match in one piece. He was kind of limping in the third fall, so the jury’s still out on that. Rey Bucanero, like Ephesto, could use a shirt in a slight bigger size.
