Even with the late day change, attendance looked to be about normal.

Guerrero WMC unmasked/photo by Black Terry Jr.

Violento Jack & Drastick Boy beat Makabre & Tony Rodriguez in the main event of DTU’s stop in Arena Roberto Paz. Sunday, Joven Maravilla & Maremoto Jr. took Juventud Rebelde & Perro Callejero II’s hair in Irapuato.

Vince Russo says this week’s Lucha Underground had it’s biggest audience this week. There’s no one who’s less accurate about television ratings than Vince Russo, but it sure sounds good. (And, again, Lucha Underground’s biggest ever viewership would’ve happened on a Saturday, though he could mean the El Rey number.)

RobViper has a music video of 08/12 & 08/19/14 CMLL.

Lineup

IWRG (WED) 12/17/2014 Arena Naucalpan
1) Vampiro Metálico vs Atomic Star
2) Galaxy & Sky Ángel vs Araña de Plata & Hip Hop Man
3) Imposible © vs Metaleón [IWRG IC Light]
Imposible 7th defense
4) Canis Lupus © vs Eterno [IWRG IC WELTER]
Canis 1st defense, against usual partner Eterno.
5) Apolo Estrada Jr., Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo © vs Chicano, Danny Casas, X-Fly [EdM Trios]
Gringos 6th defense

Imposible/Metaleon should be good, Canis Lupus/Eterno will probably end up a brawl, but I have no idea how that main event is going to go.

CMLL (FRI) 12/19/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Tapatío & Explosivo vs Relampago & Thunder Boy
2) Dr. Frezzer & Virgo vs El Chakal & Furia Nazi
3) Leo & Omar Brunetti vs Évola & Ráfaga
4) Gallo, Hombre Bala Jr., Súper Halcón Jr. vs Kamaitachi, Maléfico, Okumura
5) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Super Porky vs Ephesto, Kráneo, Mephisto

With an extra week to prepare, the Friday night shows have actual main event wrestlers. Or what passes for main event wrestlers in CMLL at the moment. CMLL’s roster is deep enough that they should have enough for two quality main events every Friday – it’s kind of what they’re trying to do on Tuesdays. It’s going to be tricker on those rare occasions someone in Tijuana uses CMLL wrestlers.

The Okumura/Gallo feud will not die. For some reason.

Dragon Rojo Jr. replaces Mascara Dorada on the start of Saturday Coliseo shows. Those show start at 7:30pm local, so people going to them will be wandering out into a bad neighborhood around 10pm at night. Cheap tickets though, gives you more reason not to bring much money.

CMLL (SUN) 12/21/2014 Arena México
1) Molotov & Robin vs Akuma & Inquisidor
Molotov’s first appeareance since August 26
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Starman, Súper Halcón Jr. vs Hijo del Signo, Metálico, Nitro
3) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Pegasso vs Boby Zavala, Puma, Tiger
4) Fuego vs Pólvora [lightning]
5) Blue Panther, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. vs Ephesto, Hombre sin Nombre, Vangellys
6) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Thunder vs Máscara Dorada, Valiente, Volador Jr.

No sign of any program here during the holiday season (The Cholo/Ramstein vs Star Jr./Soberano Jr. one seems permanently moved to Tuesdays.) At least the tercera and fourth should be good.

Rey Bucanero steals one from Volador, Angelito okay

CMLL (FRI) 12/12/2014 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Acero & Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Olímpico & Pequeño Universo 2000
Universo replaced Nitro on Monday.
2) Cancerbero, Nitro, Raziel b Hombre Bala Jr., Súper Halcón Jr., Tritón
3) Ephesto, Mephisto, Pólvora b Dragón Rojo Jr., Super Porky, Titán
Kraneo beat Porky
4) Valiente DQ Bárbaro Cavernario [lightning]
Babraro pulled Valiente’s mask off at 9:16 for the DQ
5) Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Terrible b Atlantis, Máximo, Volador Jr.
Bucanero snuck in a foul on Volador Jr.
6) La Máscara, La Sombra, Marco Corleone b Shocker, Thunder, Último Guerrero
Marco is an unofficial Ingobernable and got along with his partners.

CMLL is finally doing something with a TRT member, just the wrong one.

Angelito was cleared by a doctor and was back training on Friday. The belief is his small size saved him from being paralysis on that scary fall on his head.

Mr. Niebla and Puma are wrestling in Costa Rica today.

Volador/Rey Bucanero is officially a thing. Ingobernables continue to face Ultimo Guerrero for some reason. Same applies to Babraro being in the lightning match.

Syuri wins CMLL women’s championship, IWRG cheats to win revenge match, Dandy stays retired

Lucha Libre in Japan
12/12 REINA
3) Goya Kong [O] & Muneca de Plata b Haruka Kato [X], Erin [X], Koyuki Hayashi [X], Miyako Matsumoto [X]
4) Syuri b Marcela (c) [CMLL WOMEN]
Syuri took falls 1/3 to win the title, the last with a Buzzsaw kick. Syuri is the 16th champion, and 6th Japanese champion (Nakano, Jubuki, Yoshida, Hiroka, Kurihara). Marcela loses attempting her 13th known defense. She held the title for 2.5 years. Both are the second longest marks. Bull Nakano, the first person to hold this champion, was a special guest for the match and put the belt on Syuri after the win. Syuri already holds the REINA championship and it’s possible they’ve unified those two titles.

This came as a surprise, but it shouldn’t have been looking back. Marcela previously beat Syuri in Japan in August, and it doesn’t make sense to do this twice in such short time for the same outcome. Syuri making a return trip to Mexico seems likely. A similar situation took place with Ayumi Kurihara in 2011-12, which lead to Kurihara defending it in Japan a couple times before losing it back in Mexico.  (Here, they set up Kana as a challenger in the post match.) Last time, got a couple very good matches out of it, hoping for the same this time. Marcela hadn’t defended the belt in Mexico all year and they have two other women’s championships, so this shouldn’t chance much for the short term.

Twitter account @batt20110528 has a ton of picture of the complete match, which looks hard hitting.

CMLL (TUE) 12/09/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Martes de Glamour]
1) Évola & Infierno b El Divino & El Tapatío
2) Esfinge & Leo b Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
3) Zeuxis b Dark Angel, Amapola, Princesa Sugehit, Tiffany, Lluvia, La Vaquerita, Dalys [cibernetico]
Zeuxis beat Sugehit, setting up a rematch.
4) Ángel de Oro, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. b Boby Zavala, Okumura, Vangellys
Stuka splash on Zavala for the win
5) Máscara Dorada, Máximo, Super Porky b Ephesto, Kráneo, Mephisto
Porky beat Kraneo
6) Volador Jr. b Último Guerrero
Ultimo Guerrero got in the Guerrero Special – in the second fall, which meant Volador was able to pull off the Spanish fly in the third fall. Hair match challenges followed.

Zeuxis and Sugehit have a lightning match next week. Nothing special in the two unannounced openers, just didn’t have room on the poster for them.

IWRG (WED) 12/10/2014 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (Flickr), The Gladiatores]
1) Power Bull b Vampiro Metálico II
2) Galaxy & Sky Ángel b Payaso De Plata & Payaso Extremo

4) Black Terry, Dragón Celestial, Metaleón b Danger King, Dr. Cerebro,Orión
FILL vs Sexy Gym (this time called Sexy Gym Arkanos) feud from the FILL shows. FILL team took 1/3, Celestial beating Cerebro with his feet on the ropes.
5) Eterno, Oficial 911, Veneno b Canis Lupus, Chicano, Danny Casas
All the rudos were in a bad mood and there were moments of teammates of fighting each other, as well as the Eterno/Chicago feud resurfacing. 911 beat Casas and said the same would happen Sunday.

Danny Casas has never lost his hair. Neither has 911, but he just lost his mask and the Oficials luck in these things has turned bad.

Today’s CMLL main event is La Mascara, La Sombra and Marco Corleone vs Ultimo Guerrero, Shocker, and Thunder. The CMLL preview emphasizes Marco maybe being an ally of the Ingobernables and maybe facing off with Thunder. The best chance for a memorable match is the Valiente/Barbaro Cavernario lightning match. It seems a pretty unmemorable card overall.

Today is also the first Arena Coliseo Guadalajara show. It’s memorable for how odd the main event is for a move to a new night. Hijo del Signo and Canelo Casas being used as main eventers suggest this wasn’t planned out well, or for long. The semimain, El Dandy returning to team with the Pitbulls against Stanico and the Flashs, was probably actually supposed to be the drawing card but it’ll have to be one without El Dandy. Dandy was quietly pulled from the card this morning for Solar.

It looked like AAA had their annual company Christmas party yesterday, only everyone was dressed for wrestling so it’ll likely be something to be shown on TV. They’ve used that sort of footage as part of past of Best Of episodes and that might be the case here.

AAA’s launched a Soundcloud page, with part 1 of Guerra de Titanes discussion and Super Fly talkipong about losing his mask and starting with Lucha Underground. It seems like they’re recording these on a phone, but making it sound much louder than I was managing.

Rob has a clip of Aerostar’s insanity.

Ring of Honor officially announced Alberto el Patron working for them in 2015. He’s announced for 01/013 in Nashville, 01/30 in Dearborn, 01/31 in Dayton and 03/01 in Las Vegas on their next PPV.  (ROH runs Las Vegas?) Best we know, Lucha Underground will only be taping on Saturday and Sundays, so it’s only that 01/31 date which might be a conflict if Alberto is working for both groups. No idea when AAA is taping in January but that’ll have to be worked around both schedules.

Maybe more notable is Lucha Underground has been getting some level of exclusivity in their contracts and it doesn’t look like they’re getting it here, but the deal with Alberto was already going to be different. The bit we don’t know is if AAA will request Alberto not lose elsewhere while AAA heavyweight champion. The championship is mentioned in press release. It seems like Japanese promotions have requested that in past US indy bookings. AAA seems more flexible about that sort of thing (and they’ve been totally okay with Texano losing on their own non-TV shows), but AAA’s heavyweight champion working dates elsewhere is totally uncharted territory.

Huracan Ramirez talks about the team he won a luchador versus boxer match in Colombia. It’s unclear if this article includes an old interview with a Huracan Ramriez (since, if this actually happened, it’d have to be the deceased Daniel Garcia) or if it’s the current Huracan Ramirez pretending to be an 82 year old man.

a match with no mat

The big show for the DTU tour is at Arena Lopez Mateos. I actually think Black Fire & Slayer Pack are going to get to the finals, since they actually got a tag team name (4×4) and all. That would slide Crazy Boy into the Consagrado match and Nino Hamburuguesa replacing whoever inevitable no-shows. Violento Jack has been doing matches that have turned into no mat matches every since picking that up in his trip to Japan, so this time this mat just gets removed ahead of time.

FOX2: Infierno en el Ring! The trailer has the top 3 matches, which doesn’t say much for the cage match length.

Azteca: a really lackluster show you shouldn’t bother watching

52MX: Rey Cometa vs Sagrado.

Claro: Marco vs Terrible and the top rope

C3: Dragon Lee vs Virus! Also other matches but that should be good enough.

TVC Deportes (Puebla): Rush vs Niebla, if it stays on track. There’s no schedule posted even for tomorrow as I write this, so no idea when/if this will air.

Terra Sunday: Atlantis, Sombra, Marco vs Casas, Shocker, Thunder. Seems like a skippable show.

IWRG (LAS/AYM): It’s possible I’ve found a way to get both shows, but am still figuring that out. At any rate, this should be Danny Casas/Oficial 911 focused.

WWA, Alberto to ROH, Mil wins in Japan

WWA (FRI) 12/05/2014 Auditorio de Tijuana, Tijuana, Baja California [El Mexicano]
1) Black Spider, Extasis, Memo Velasquez b Animaniac, Enfermero Jr., Mr. Maldito
2) Lady Apache b Datura [WWA Women]
Advertised as a WWA Women’s title match, but not mentioned in the news report. Dunno. Would be a vacant title match.
3) Cotton Candy b Perfecto [WWA EXOTICO]
Listed as a title match, but appeared to be for trophy and not a defended championship. Casandro & Rubi Gardenia were listed and didn’t appear, with Perfecto replacing.
4) Octagoncito (original) © b Piratita Morgan [WWA MINI]
Lobito was the last known Minis champion in 2012. Octagoncito lost the title to the previous champion, Mascarita Plateada in 2011 but magically has the belt back. Billed as a title being retained.
5) Bestia 666 & Damián 666 b Rayman & Rey Horuz [WWA TAG]
vacant title. Rayman & Rayo Jr. were the last known champions in 2012, though there was supposed to be a tournament for them on a July show in Tijuana. Rey Hourz turned on his partner.
6) Atlantis b Negro Casas [WWA JLH]
vacant title. Matches were supposed to be Atlantis vs Ultimo Guerrero and Negro Casas vs Diamante Azul, but they were combined into one after UG and Azul were booked on Infierno en el Ring.

Didn’t draw well, probably not helped by the random title matches and people figuring out they weren’t going to deliver on the advertised main event.

No IWRG results from last night but the pictures are cool.

This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter (suscriber only) updated Alberto’s plans. A video introducing Alberto was supposed to air on ROH’s PPV this past weekend, but it did not arrive on time. Alberto will work serval shows for January in ROH. (I read that as he’s working a lot in January but it’s unclear.) Alberto is supposed to work for Lucha Underground but is said not to have signed a contract yet, and Bellator did talk to him on Sunday (after failing to get CM Punk.)

Last night’s CMLL Informa included Soberano & Star pushing for a mask match. Felino talked about his hair loss and Mistico talked about his return, but still would not state a date. That situation is confusing, and my best guess is he’s not cleared yet to return but they wanted to have him to just say something on the Infierno en el Ring show. The Guadalajara move to Sundays was mentioned late in the show; earlier, JCR said Guadalajara would be running on Tuesdays, Fridays and still Sunday, which conflicts with what people in Guadalajara had been saying. Angelito being hurt was mentioned so quick you would’ve missed it (and had no idea what happened.)

Tercera Caida had another highlight heavy edition of the show; they still had to catch up on the All Elite shows. Teelo and Leo of the IWRG Ninja Turtles were the guest hosts and talked more after the show. Dinamic Black and Guerrero WMC were guests late in the show to hype their mask match late in the week, only Guerrero WMC forgot his mask and had to wear a Monje one. I don’t like WMC’s chances of winning.

CaraLuchas announced Negro Navarro vs Hechicero for Navarro’s FLLM Master Championship, which Black Terry Jr. had mentioned was coming a while back. Super Nova also defends his title against Trauma II.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Dinastia talks about his title defense.

Video feature on DTU’s show in Xalapa.

Mascara Sagrada Jr. returned to Arena Aficion wearing his mask, again. He lost it there in 2010 and has just continued wearing whenever he shows up there. It’s more confusing why the promoters use him, since he’s only Mascara Sagrada Jr. and the only people who are dedicate enough to come those shows are the ones who are going to be annoyed by such things (as the recap illustrates.)

Guerrero Maya Jr. wants to face the winner of Monday’s tag title match (Mascara/Maximo vs Casas/Shocker) no matter what happens in his title defense against Hechicero & Cavernario.

LV has reviews of 11/26/14 IWRG and 12/07/14 IWRG.

Marcela and Syuri had a press conference for the title match they’re having tomorrow that you’ve already forgotten about. Also, Goya Kong and Muneca de Plata were eating during the press conference, and demanding their four opponents weight in before facing them to see if they combined measure up to the Mexican pair.
