Dragon Lee vs Kamaitachi in a lightning match: [GOOD] What worked in this match really worked, and what didn’t work really didn’t work. My hunch is Dragon Lee was hurt on one of Kamaitachi’s two big dropkicks, because they really messed up the DDT spot right after and Dragon Lee’s blood was after. I’m giving it a bit of the benefit of the doubt from that because there was a lot of great entertaining stuff when they got it back together. Those dropkicks and Dragon Lee’s dropkick all looked good, and I liked how they set up the finish. The dropkick to start what we saw wasn’t quite as good – maybe come in 30 seconds later next time. This was all spots but was meant to be that way.
Máscara Dorada, Máximo, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Shocker, Thunder: [OK] Thunder regains his invulnerability on Fridays, so at least Mascara Dorada got to look good before he was dropped hard onto the mat. Thunder appeared to think Mascara Dorada was going to travel to Japan by being driven thru the center of the earth. Match was usual semimain filler with the novelty of seeing Stuka beat Shocker in a fall (two guys going in very opposite direction.)
La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush vs Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero: [OK] Best parts of the match were Rush hitting Ultimo Guerrero very hard, which gives some hope for their singles match. UG falling back in his usual spots at the first opportunity takes away that hope. Sombra chopping Niebla Roja very hard and not putting up with the soccer chant spot had some positive value, as does Sombra’s ridiculous genie hoop earring. Ultimo Guerrero’s facial expressions selling the fake foul were great. Tirantes no selling the Ingobernables attack was not so great. Repeated falls with commercial breaks hurt the flow of the match – I can’t imagine it was any fun to watch live. I’m unsure what move Gran Guerrero did to win the first fall and I’m doubtful he knows either.
