rolling murder kick

La Jarochita, Ludxor, Mamba, Pasion Kristal vs Butterfly, Diva Salvaje, Estrella Divina, Polvo de Estrellas: [OK] Just the random match you’d think it would be, complete with cable puller standing in the center of the screen for a minute for no particular reason right before the comeback. Estrella Divina should probably save her absurd wheel kick for her last move instead of her first, though the superbomb on Ludxor was also good. Polvo looks very old nowadays, but could still get around for Ludxor’s armdrags. Tecnica Mamba is strange but he kind of wrestlers that way anyway. Butterfly looked very indy. Jarochita’s dive seemed to have a big edit in the middle of it.

Jennifer Blake & Niño Hamburguesa vs Eterno & Taya Valkyrie: [OK] Basic Niño Hamburugesa match, which is not as good as a basic mixed match. Your enjoyment of Niño Hamburguesa matches is completely depending on you liking the character enough to overlook the really bad headscissors he won’t stop doing. The women got a lot of this match and were generally fine, and Eterno was just there to hold things together.

camera man down!

Monsther Clown vs Chessman: [OK] This appeared to be a test to see if Chessman could make a match completely built around Monsther Clown offense work. Sadly, he could not quite do it, because Monsther Clown doesn’t quite have enough offense for 9 minutes (and occasionally forgets how to do his own finishing hold.) Chessman really tried here and I guess Monsther Clown did too, but crowd mostly treated it like the inexplicable singles match that it was. Maybe Disco Inferno can give Monsther Clown his old cheat sheet before the next match. They did react big for the finish. Averno’s slow walk finally paid off as a distraction tactic. He was really playing the long game on that one!

Monster Clown struggles to put on his submission hold.
Fenix flies a long way even when someone else is shoving him

Blue Demon Jr. & Fénix vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Pentagón Jr.: [Below Average] This was a nothing match, though it wasn’t really anything to do with the wrestlers. The ring was unusable, so we got a little bit of the Perro style brawling on the outside (where it was dry) and just one high spot to set up the immediate técnico finish. Most of the Below Average matches are less than professional ones; this was a professional match in a bad circumstance. It doesn’t make Perro look good when he loses so quickly and cleanly, but they were more focused on giving the crowd a super happy finish to make up for the lacking match they had to do. (For TV purposes, though, they would’ve been better repeating something else.)
