Dragon Rojo retains his title, Lucha Underground signing

CMLL (MON) 12/22/2014 Arena Puebla [Periodico Enfoque, Periodico Enfoque (fotos)]
1) Lestat, Soberano Jr., Star Jr. b Disturbio, Espíritu Maligno, Toro Bill Jr.
2) Amapola, La Comandante, Zeuxis b La Vaquerita, Lluvia, Princesa Sugehit
Estrellita was announced, but announced as still injured and replaced by Princesa Sugehit. Zeuxis had a knee injury during the match.
3) Kráneo, Morphosis, Olímpico b Rey Cometa, Stigma, Valiente
Stigma replaced Titan.
4) Dragón Rojo Jr. © b Pólvora [CMLL MIDDLE]
Seconds were Disturbio & Stigma. Dragon Rojo won via arm submission. Dragon Rojo’s 9th defense.
5) Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Super Porky DQ Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero, Terrible
Niebla fouled Atlantis.

Attendance looks randomly better than usual. Niebla has 6 weeks of feuds he’s doing all at once, for some reason. He does not seem like a guy to build half the shows around.

That knee injury must be serious – the preview now has Dalys facing Marcela in the lightning match.

Today’s CMLL show in Arena Mexico has Terrible, Felino and Kraneo versus Marco Corleone, Maximo and Atlantis, who seems to be working everywhere right now. CMLL’s preview pushes Marco going for the gold versus Terrible. Soberano and Cholo face off in the tercera trios match; CMLL’s got an article out pushing that tag feud, with the tecnicos demanding a mask match. If that’s going to happen on 01/06, which would make the most sense, tonight’s is the optimum point to make it official and give it couple weeks of hype.

Guadalajara has Mascara, Mascara Dorada and Valiente vs Ephesto, Mephsito and Thunder. Thunder’s been facing Dorada & Valiente a lot lately.

AYM, in their infinite wisdom, cut out from Traumas/Navarro/Terry before the post match, but +LuchaTV has it up.  (AYM did manage to show the logo for about 2 minutes straight at least twice during the show.) Trauma II has Fenix level of emotions about this match.

Yahoo! Deportes confirms Satanico is one of the people now in charge in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara. I missed this, but last week’s Fuego en el Ring actually already had this: someone new named Daniel Cruz is the guy in charge in Guadalajara, and Satanico and Magnum are teaching at the school.

Jeff Cobb told an indy crowd that he was signing with Lucha Underground. He was one of the names on the list from last week’s WON. Cobb was born in Hawaii and is of Guam nationality; he was their flag bearer at the 2004 Summer Olympics when he was an amateur. He’s been wrestling Hawaii and on the west coast. I don’t think I’ve seen any of his matches, but Cobb was someone Meltzer was previously pushing as someone WWE should pick up for their developmental group except he’s older than they’d like (he’s 32 now.) There are a few of his matches and those top 10 moves videos on YouTube; Cobb’s nicknamed “Mr. Athletic” and the name seems accurate. He’ll fit in.

LuchaWorld has this week’s Poster-Mania and KrisZ’s news update.

Voices of Wrestling has it’s second lucha libre focused Suicida Slate reviews.

Keira vs Orion is the first first match for ChilangaMask’s Puebla show on 01/17.

Dollar was honored for 20 years of wrestling in Gimnasio Gloria.

DJ Spectro looks back at 2014.

Rey Hechicero and Trauma II face off in Salon Citalali on 01/03. Note that fill in Sky Star Arceus is teaming with Rayo Star, which means Sky Man is still not able to return into 2015.

Lineups

indy (SUN) 12/28/2014 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) ? vs ??
2) ? vs ??
3) ? vs ??
4) ? vs ??
5) El Divo © vs Potro Jr. [FILL MIDDLE]
6) Gato Fantasma vs Desafio [mask, hair]
7) Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Atlantis vs LA Park

The promoters have been pushing the LA Park vs Atlantis fight from this past Sunday pretty hard to a singles match, so it’s a three way instead. I dunno. At another time, Atlantis vs LA Park in a mask match might happen, but it’s hard to believe LA Park (or Wagner) will ever get the payoff they want.

  1. So Cobb was someone Meltzer was previously pushing as someone WWE should pick up for their developmental group……

GREAT, another WWE type in a “Lucha” product. It may be me, but I have not been impressed by Lucha Underground, in that it looks too much like WWE doing a lucha-type show.

Now I wish I could have seen that Super Astros product Vince tried back in the day, so I can compare it to LU.
